HardBrick or Soft Brick - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

my galaxy SL suddenly getting boot loop.then i tried flash with odin.i dont know what going wrong.now i just can enter download mode.but i cant go to recovery mode.my phone is rooted with jellybean install.so what should i do to recover the phone back ?
galaxy SL i9003
country malaysia
android Jellybean 4.1.1 (forgot already but sure its jellybean)
i saw alot people said XXKPE Gingerbread Firmware.
i scared to try.so i hope u guys can explain for me.

To flash kpe first you have to flash (latona) with odin in pit, then pull the battery and enter download mode again and flash the other 3 files incuded in the firmware. Here is the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004647
Read carefully and dont get nervous if you can access download mode you are able to recover the phone.
Good luck.

Don't bother replacing, go get yourself a new phone. No budget? Get s2, it's still quite usable with CarbonRom. Got budget, get anything better.. You'll be happier. With Jellybean, i9003's already struggling so hard. Honestly, don't put hope on key lime pie. The i9003 development currently happening here are for the remaining surviving daredevils who have yet brick their i9003. Anyway for repair, you can always walk into their service centre and ask for quote.. I've hard bricked my 1st i9003 around 3 years back and they quoted RM4/5XX for the motherboard and I don't think they have got stock now too.

phone bricked, samsung said lolsufail

I was doing a odin one click restore from continuum rom, and it went through and said successfull but blackscreen brick on reboot...
so after trying every trick in the book, i got it to come on in download mode using a jig but of course odin didnt see it so i had no choice but to try again..
well after days of trying to get it back into DL mode, i contact samsung, and find out my phone is under warantee. so i send it in, and then a week later get an email saying: "Oh hai we r dun with ur phonez and sendin it bak to u"
of course im thinking sweet my phone will work... nope they put on the work order that my phone was beyond repair, and then put a little purple square piece of paper in the box with it that said "=P warantee void for unauthorized updates"
So unfortunately now i have no choice but to use my stupid iphone

There is a member floating around the forum who might be able to help you out with a JTAG flash for your phone, or you could look into trying your hand at it yourself. Just search for JTAG and I'm sure you'll find some help.

Okay first of all you posted in the wrong section. Next time please post in the Q&A if you have any problems/questions .
Does your phone turn on at all? Like to the Phone+!+PC screen?
my bad it was more of a comment than a question, hence the absence of question marks, I know what needs to be done to fix it, jtag, unless one of these new things theyre discovering with the uart, etc... happens to perform a miracle..
but no its black screen bricked, and that after a "successful" odin flash. The phone does turn on though cuz it gets warm.
Everyone knows flashing voids your warranty. Time to buy a new phone.
yea except for the flash that bricked the phone was a stock rom so i was hoping they wouldnt say it was void because of it
There are a million warnings on this site that flashing voids your warranty and may brick your phone.
When you decided to mess around with flashing you should have known this could happen.
dude im not stupid, i know that flashing voids your warranty. There is also a million people who have gotten new phones from bricks after flashing under warranty replacement.
Trying to get samsung to fix it under warranty is fraud and is illegal. Posting about it on here is evidence of the crime.
If you wanted your phone to have a warranty you shouldn't have flashed it.
I told them i flashed it... as i said, i was flashing it to stock anyway when it died. Either way no fraud was committed, i called them trying to see if i could just buy a new motherboard, theyre the ones that told me the phone was under warranty and to send it in.
So sorry mr lawyerpants for doing what i was told.
Well enjoy your brick just the same.

Personally the fun illegal warranty claim on a bricked phone is to open it up loosen the heatsink and take a soldering iron to the CPU well the phone is stuck on boot...
I of course have never done this as my phones CPU exploded for legitimate reasons... ;-P

Shouldve just said that your were updating to the offical froyo via kies. And kies told you to put you're phone into download mode (It does say that in the instructions somewhere as a second option.) And that you were doing the offical flash and the phone fell off your table and caused the usb to disconnect. Then the phone wouldn't boot...

I would like you to try something for me. I was having an issue very similar to this. remove your battery and then reinsert it without turning the phone on. plug the phone in as if to charge. Leave it on the charger for several hours. Then try to use odin 3 click, and post your results. May be a lost cause but if it has the slightest chance to save your phone, it deserves a shot.
You fail, should have read the instructions correctly on how to flash.

Thats actually what i told them i was flashing, i guess they figured out i was lying since it was the stock odin flash.
or maybe since it was the stock odin flash and we arent supposed to have odin?

[Q] (Help!) Hard bricked skyrocket?

Hey guys,
So I have the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket with AT&T and I have it rooted etc. Today I tried flashing the MIUI rom, but was unsuccessful due to a message saying "Installation aborted". So I did as I read to do and wiped cache, Delvik or w/e, and then I reformatted the SDcard to redownload the ROM, however when I rebooted the next time it did not boot back up. Now I have the phone completely dead it would seem, I have tried the button combinations, etc to no avail.
What happened and is there anything I can do?
How can my phone be bricked if I never got to install a new ROM? I can't be without it for too long so any answers would be appreciated
Thanks,
Smernst

Sometimes download mode can work even if the screen isn't turning on. You should follow the instructions for download mode and see if Odin recognizes the phone.

Well there are symptoms of Brick See below and find ur category!!!!
appdroid said:
Brick → When used in reference to consumer electronics, "brick" describes a device that cannot function in any capacity (such as a device with damaged firmware). This usage derives from the fact that some electronic devices (and their detachable power supplies) are vaguely brick-shaped, and so those which do not function are useful only as actual bricks. The term can also be used as a verb. For example, "I bricked my phone when I tried to modify its firmware.
Hard Brick → When your phone does not turn on at all. When you can’t get in to CWR/CWM Or Stock recovery. You are basically screwed. If its hard brick Here is thread that will help you!!!
Soft Brick → When your phone bootloops. When you can get into CWR/CWM. When You can use jigtag to get into download mode.

Now, does anyone have a guide to recommend for getting, say, MIUI onto the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket? I don't know enough about the versions, mp5, etc to do it alone, and a safe guide would really help me
Thanks

No att ppl are dumb and they can't even turn on the phone so they won't be able to say that it was rooted. When they ask you anything about rooting just pretend like you don't know what they are talking about.

for noobs like me, android is too complicated.
i don't hate it, i think it's for more advance users.
after using the android for a couple week i still think ios is a lot ez to use.
IOS is garbage plain and simple. Apple forces you to use things THEIR way. With android you can fully customize every aspect of your phone. I've had an iphone and their crap compared to Android, especially this skyrocket.
Restore
Try going into recovery mode (turn phone on while holding both volume buttons) and if u made a backup before restore to it, if not then mount ur usb storage from there and put a new rom on it in the root folder then try to install that but try a clean wipe and all that first to
all this can be done in the recovery menu

It's not android that's complicated.. You could have stay stock and use different launchers to achieve alot of customized looks but you JUMPED in and it sounds like you might have not have been prepared with enough info... I'm going to give you some good advice someone gave me....search is your friend, and YouTube is your friend, and follow the damn instructions... Those words have helped me.. I also say know when your ready to play with the systems. There's nothing wrong with reading all the post and using them for reference material.

[Q] GT-i9003 cannot start after flash

Hi,
I have just flash my GT-i9003 using Odin to GT-I9100_O2U_I9100XWLP3_I9100O2ULP4_I9100XXLPR, but I failed to upgrade, and I am not able to start my phone since then, any help?
can you bring it back to download mode?
hold volume down +home button + power button
coz if you can bring it to download mode ... reflash to XXKPE first
tell us what was your stock rom before you tried flashing?
I cannot even boot up or do anything to it. I have also tried to remove it's battery and put it back, tried to start again, but still nothing happen.
can you try doing this method?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411768
but be very careful
Hi, I have tried several times, but still nth happen. any other idea? Thanks
im just a newbie too and im just trying to refer from topics that i have read
hmmmm probably its not just a soft brick but a hard one
maybe you need to buy a USB jig for i9003 or make one
there are tutorials available about it on google
but as ive heard they wont really work if your phone doesnt turn on at all
or lastly send it to samsung service center if you are still under warranty and tell them that it happened while you updated with kies
then hope and pray they will replace parts or fix it for free
if not under warranty anymore
http://www.jtagbox.com/category/riff-jtag-box-owners-unbrick-your-phone/
sorry mate, this is the farthest i can go
i hope some others can give better ideas
Its an obvious hard brick as you flashed a rom meant for i9100. Service centre you go

Yes I just an international student come to Au for study. it is the result I flash rom trick roid version 7.1( say suitable for s3 and s4). After I cannot do anything after the install rom process I try to lock the bootloader to take repair from the services( hope it work but it not) the phone shut down and no more signal to come normal state
Only trickdroid 1.0.0 is compatible with s3 , there is a separate link for that , if you can boot to recovery just flash that rom , if you can't try to boot to fastboot and reflash a compatible s3 recovery , you will need the compatible s3 twrp recovery ....try this

This sounds like your motherboard is dead. If you have warranty, then I suggest you to take the phone to service and just act dumb . You just make something up, like you were talking and the phone frozen, then you've tried to reboot it, and after that the phone just won't start any more. You've got nothing to loose.
thanks for your suggestion. but I have do it and they know that not in the warranty. they say replace the main board need 350$AUD. that why I take my phone back cause I can buy another just 500$ now. I try to find other solution to this issue here

I have encountered a problem before where my battery was totally dead, wouldn't charge nothing. I would plug it into the charger and the orange light would come on to indicate that it was charging but only for a few seconds and then go off again. I'm just wondering if you have the same problem as I know a possible workaround for this.
Thanks for you suggest but I get the problem by bootloader not because the battery( my phone is 1 month new)
Could anyone help me with this problem please
Is there anyone know this??? Please help me
I think it's save to say, that you need a new phone/mainboard for it. I would've read more about the S3 ROMs before flashing anything.
