Hello i cannot find it anymore. I am looking for the group messaging mod or APK for a TW rom that enables group messaging on TW roms. I would prefer the AOSP messaging but it still has low quality MMS even though it claims to be fixed.

Hi,
I hate the look of some of the official ICS apps..can someone help to port the 'old' ICS apps so that they can work on this? For example:
1. Messages (it was white and clean and beautiful, now ugly)
2. Dialer (i enjoyed swiping panes, and the dpi scaled right...now at 280 dpi it's distorted)
3. Calendar (the app was beautiful and ESPECIALLY the widget..lovely)
Nobody shares my sentiment??

remedy
1)Remove stock sms app
or
2)disable default app sms notification
Please let me know if this works
Just removed stock ics due to the warning about the moded cwm stock kernel

Ok working great now after I removed stock sms and am using the market version. HOWEVER...the screen doesn't turn on when I receive a message, notification works and everything but I have to hit the home button to look at it. Any ideas??

Edit: Temporary solution found! I'm now using the market messaging app, with SMS POPUP as my notification source, and the screen turns on for the popup! Better than nothing, though I would much prefer the stock way of turning the lockscreen on and have the message in the status/notification bar. Thanks for your help all.
Just to reiterate: problem with the market ICS messaging app (otherwise perfect) is that when message is received screen doesn't turn on. Notification arrives normally and I get the ping, but I have manually turn screen on to see it. Tried making it system app but didn't help. Any other ideas appreciated, thanks!

Hey all, running CM10 4.1.1 and the AOSP texting app is nice, but not a huge fan of the look/theme. Would like something dark, like ICS blue/black. What kinds of SMS/MMS apps are you guys using? Any 3rd party apps or themed apk's worth trying? Thanks!

go sms was themeable and customizable.
i just didntlike the app
I've used handcent sms for a while because you can customize the look of it. It's had popup notifications for a while too!

I use GO SMS in Normal Mode. I like the way their message popup works for easy replies. You can customize the look or use one of their themes.
Lots of great options out there, comes down to personal choice a lot of times. I tried several and settled on Go SMS. Pretty straight forward and I like the theming options.
How do I get it to work? I am reading alot of different threads mainly talking about EMOJI support, but I just want group MMS.
It's a setting in Messaging (Settings->Group conversations).
Real group messaging combines all messages into one thread which the stock tw messaging app does not.

I really want to use chompSMS because it's pretty without any themes and has easily accessible emoji BUT it force closes when I try to send an MMS. Help?

I really don't like Handent's GUI.
I'm just looking for alternatives to GO SMS PRO
I like being stock but I wanna go back rooted cause I want the real note 2 cam and gallery and I wanna to know if I could use the aosp messaging cause I really like the quick reply and how it just pops up on my screen and don't always got to go in my texts messages if this is possible can I have the zip files please

Some ROMs have add ons for AOSP messaging interfaces. They're out there. There is one on the Darthstalker thread I believe, though I haven't tried it.
EDIT: There isn't an AOSP messaging app, but there are mods for the note 2 gallery and camera on that thread in the OP.
