Hi fellows,
I recently purchased Note 10.1 to use for school and work. Previously have galaxy s2.
Though it is a good phone, thing I hate about android is its terrible battery life compare to iOS devices. It's happening again with the Note 10.1 I think. At full brightness (I really want to use my device at full brightness all the time), power battery widget pro report only 3h30' of screen on and continuous usage time from 100% to 0%. This by no means is enough to serve me a whole day at school constantly drawing and taking notes. I need around 5 to 6 hrs per day use before i bring it back home and charge. Is this average for everyone or should I give my note few more days to charge see if it improves?

Why do you want 100% brightness while you are inside ? I always set my brightness around 25% (. and got 9hr of screen on easily. ) for indoor, and auto when i go outside. 100% all the time just way too much for my eye.
P/s: BTW, i don't think any other tablets will survive any longer than you note 10.1 if you always put full brightness.

I am using N8000 and battery life is normal, it keeps whole day.
You may update your device to the latest patches and updates via official.which android version is installed on your galaxy note?
I also have to ask why you use 100% screen brightness.
My battery lasts all day long with an easy to see screen brightness of 10% -25%.
I use my tab to watch videos, read books & do some word processing. I generally get around 10 hours.
9 hours, average. Indoors, with auto brightness.

Even if ipad at full brightness you barely get 4hrs. So don't cry it's android.

The battery is really managed in gnote 10.1. The main consumer is the screen, mate.
You can clearly see that using GSam Battery Monitor app.

If you're drawing I can understand the desire to have full brightness. But this is how I remedy the situation: when I'm painting (using color), I will keep the screen it full brightness. But when I'm just drawing or sketching (using one or few colors...or B&W), I'll reduce the brightness to 25 percent or so. Now, under bright phosphorescent lights even when I'm sketching I'll increase brightness to 50 percent. I also use a screencast app to record my drawings, which will significantly drain battery life. It is a give-and-take for sure. I also will turn off my screen when I'm not using the device at all, keep my charger on me. I found an extension at Walmart that I can plug into the wall plug base after I remove the slide out plug that comes with the tablet. Just take the slide out plug to hardware stores and theyll help you find an appropriate extension I've added an extra 6 feet of length for just under $10. So, when I'm actually figure drawing in class, I can have the device plugged in, at full brightness and record my drawings, and still be gaining a charge. My tablet battery life never drops below 50 percent throughout the entire day. That's with regular heavy use and keeping the 6 foot charging cable on me. Add a 10 foot extension cord, and youve given yourself a 20 foot range without ANY battery drain. Here's an example of my work and a photo of the charger's extension.

i got 3hrs of screen time and still got 46% of battery left at screen brightness of 30-45%.

"Battery life was excellent--the 7,000mAh battery on the Note 10.1 eked out just over 11 hours of video playback in our test. This was slightly better than the latest iPad, which has a much larger battery (but a more power-hungry display). Our test was conducted with the screen brightness and audio volume set at 50 percent, and with Wi-Fi enabled." - CNET
Battery Life
The key here people is the brightness setting.
I personally get 5 hours 30 mins screen time on Full Brightness with Wi-fi & Mobile active, not using Power Saver.
With 15% battery remaining, never run your lithium-iron battery too low, can shorten the life span.
Here are some other peoples figures:
(8 hours and 15 minutes - Continuous Video Playback, Auto Brightness)
In practice, the slate lasts a bit longer than 8 hours and 15 minutes with continuous video playback, and anywhere from 8 hours to 9 hours and 40 minutes with more varied usage (smaller video games without loads of graphics, web browsing, e-mails, photo editing and some video).

(8 hours plus - Mixed Usage - Power Save Mode)
In a single charge from its proprietary cable, the Galaxy Note 10.1 with its 7,000mAh battery should last you all day. In a mixed scenario of browsing, video and productivity, it lasted us well over eight hours, though that was with the Power Savings setting activated.

(5 hours 17 minutes - Continuous Mobile Surfing - Suspect Auto Bright)
(8 hours 57 minutes - Continuous Wi-fi Surfing - Suspect Auto Bright)
The Galaxy Note 10.1 for Verizon lasted just 5 hours and 17 minutes on the LAPTOP Battery Test (continuous Web surfing over 4G LTE). When we switched off LTE and ran the test over the Note 10.1's Wi-Fi connection, battery life increased to 8 hours and 57 minutes.

I have a different question: how is standby time?
I'm measuring 1% discharge per hour when the device is off.
My previous tablet (Archos 10.1 IT) had a 'deep sleep' facility: no measurable discharge but also no alarms and other scheduled tasks (which I consider a nice feature).
10 Hours Average
Mine is 10 Hours Average, with daily routines such as:
1. Constant bluetooth mouse + keyboard all day,
2. 3G - Wifi,
3. chroot Ubuntu on vnc, ksweb server mostly on
4. Bluetooth earpiece constantly on during lunch break/out of office (Keyboard + mouse off)
Oh I wiped clean my rom of touchwiz (even multiwindow/minimode), left only about 300mb on idle, I noticed that also helps my performance (including battery performance a lot)

wow I would need sun glasses
i do not think my note 10.1 brightness goes low enough sometimes. Like reading in bed.. I never have my screen brightness above 30 percent unless in the car or in the sun light.. I also noticed that even if you have it set TO Auto it uses more battery . I would say
Keep auto brightness off
TURN OFF SYNC
TURN OFF GPS
TURN OFF WIFI . (UNLESS YOU NEED IT FOR CLASS)
Do not use Bluetooth devices or other connected stuff.
In the above Situation i can go 12-14 hours. with 30 percent screen brightness. So this should get you at least 7 hours..

NO FACEBOOK OR Twitter allowed on my devices .
But i know it was meant to help the op not me.
I do have one 3rd party sync app . its the DS CLOUD app from the play store. it sync some important Documents i like to have off line.. but it does bit sync so if you update 1 letter in a document then its only one byte sync.
I love my Synology Disk station.

I see people saying rooting added 24 hours to their battery life. With root and CPU tuner i get around 12 hours of battery life no matter what. I woke up and idle/ standby used around 30 percent of my battery. Is that normal?
Usually my display tops the battery list but it drains quicker than I'd expect it to since i run 11% brightness. I run conservative governor and 245-1000mhz with 60 up 33 down. I have a weather widget, 2 battery widgets, and a ram widget.
Can anyone recommend me anything or give me tips top find out why this is happening? I'm running iced glacier 1.1.4 and gr8s 2.3 kernel.
I'm down to 80% in a little over an hour with display at 75% and nothing else over 10%. I do have a screen off profile too which makers me wonder how I lose that much overnight. I have the weather channel widget but its not on the battery screen so I doubt that is the problem or could it be?

Ugh just got 8 hours battery time on a day of moderate use. This is horrible. I'm gonna need a new battery in under a year I'm charging it ever damn day. I check the processor speed a lot too it's usually on ~360 mHz which is extreme underclocking. How is the new Cyno Alpha ROM for battery life? I might have to try that / new kernel and see if that helps anything. This is annoying beyond belief.

Only real things you can do are:
Check widgets and apps for update times and make them update less frequently
Turn brightness down
Use 'conservative' setting on set cpu and setup screen off profile.
Maybe some other people have good ideas. 8 hours seems low.
I dont think thats even close to normal, I have mine set at 1.7ghz and used it here and there through out the day and was trying to run the battery down as I had just bought it that week, it took me into the next day before I recharged it...
Me neither. I have everything that jj had mentioned done and still get between 8-12 hours. I have to charge it like twice a day on some days even running on 350 mhz. I'm about to call tmobile and ask for a new battery.

I had major battery life issues, I don't think the phone was sleeping properly (it would always randomly turn the screen on, among other weird things).
as soon as I switched to CM7 my problems ceased and I'm getting through an entire day of good use without charging
Battery life for me is very solid.... yesterday took phone fully charge off the charger around 6am, moderate to heavy use throughout the day, mainly emails & web browsing. Came home around 8pm and had about 45% left of battery.
Charged it till full last night before I went to bed, pulled it off the charger around 11 I think. Woke up this morning and it still at 100%, received a few messages & emails. Running CM7
It does sound like either some people have crazy background data they aren't aware of (or wake-lock issues) or there are some bad batteries.
I did a test yesterday to find out how well the battery would hold up as I see a lot of complaints regarding battery life.
I am running a stock rom that I rooted and removed the crap I didn't want / use (including the News and Stocks app). I do have setCPU scaling down the CPU when the screen is off, that's really it though. Scaling is ondemand.
I run 3 push email accounts (1x Exchange and 2x Gmail) and weather updates every 3 hours.
I took it off of the charger when I went to bed the previous night at 11 pm. It was off of the charger for 20 hours. I spent about 13 of the 20 hours on wifi, the rest on 3G. It had moderate use (web browsing, XDA, some photos and videos of the kids, about 25 text messages).
At the end of the 20 hours I had a 35% charge still.
For the people only getting 8 hrs out of the battery I am curious how the use/background data differs.
I don't have any email linked besides gmail. I never use wifi or blue tooth. A normal day consists of mobile network only on low processor speeds with 11% brightness. I do haves screen off profile too.
I'll check facebook/twitter here and there (both have background update turned off). I text more than anything, browse the web a bit, and use the xda app a bit. The only thing i can think of is the battery monitor widget monitoring my but before that the battery life was bad too.
I literally have most things turned off and what I have on is at its minimum. I do have transition animations on but I doubt that would kill a battery that fast. There's never apps or widgets above like 2% on the battery usage screen. It's always display above 70% then idle/standby and android OS. I do think it is a battery problem cause I have low brightness but it still leads my usage by a lot.

Hmm, that's weird - I do think 8 hours is pretty low. I'm a typically light-moderate user: few phone calls, text messages, google chatting, light browsing, some gaming. And usually what amounts to about an hour a day of just playing with my phone without actually doing anything . My routine is generally to charge it overnight while I sleep. I take it off the charger around 8am, and it easily lasts until bed later that night. On the days when I've used it on the heavy side, it gets down to 10% or less by bedtime, but still - always makes it well past 8 hours! Plus, I keep it on automatic brightness. BTW, I'm running stock (no need to root it IMO).
For you to be getting 8 hours with the settings you describe doesn't seem right. Might want to contact TMO about getting a replacement battery or something.

I'm terribly disappointed in this phone's battery! If HTC comes out with a phone that has all these features, it should be able to handle the the power needed! I read all these threads ... turn down screen, turn of this and that. So basically to make the phone ... usable you have to turn everything down and off. Just pisses me off. If i can have sync on for 24 hours something is wrong. if i can't have my gps on and listen to the radio for maybe 20 minutes a day, watch tv for half our, check my email send text without carrying an extension cord ... then htc should have just mentioned that. Instead they give you a battery llife that isn't accurate. I'm just so pissed! it's like me telling you that your new bmw sports car is pretty fast but you have to change the tires, don't listen to the radio and keep your lights off or you'll need to recharge battery and gas every hour.
Anyhow ... i get 11 hours on my battery. I have ADW launcher and fancy widget. I have my tmobile and facebook contacts sync'd. I don't check face book more than twice a day so I don't have the refresh on. The weather is every 6 hours i think. 11 Hours 50 minutes is the longest my phone survived with 11% screen brightness wifi / blue tooth / gps / etc off. I do have vibrate and sound off. I haven't made any phone calls on it yet. I send and received about 25 text. 5-10 min web page surfing. I would probably go mad if i had to make a call. I would definitely go mad if i used this phone normally.
I noticed my weather widget in sense and fancy widget was running when checking running tab in applications. Since sense runs in the background, does this mean i'm using battery running it or is it disabled? What else could I turn off in sense when using a different launcher?
Before rooted I got around 12-13 hours of moderate use, so I think your battery is not functioning well. You may call T-Mo for a replacement. Anyway, after rooted and flashed Iced Glacier (Stock launcher, bloatware removed), I always get 18 hours or more. You may wanna try.

33% after 5 hours, but taking into account:
1. Phone set to GSM Auto (PRL), BT off
2. Screen brightness set to max, note how long the screen was on during the 5 hours from the screenshot
3. Three hours spent going in and out of signal/bad coverage areas
4. Music on headphones + DSP Manager enabled about three hours
5. Watched 1 hour of video (max brightness)
6. Heavy internet use and messaging for approx 4 hours
7. 15 minutes of phone calls
so 33%... does that seem normal after the above?
Looks quite typical to me. Music on for several hours? You're taxing the processor a bit there. You'll want to recharge the phone nightly (as all of us do...)

I end up having to charge it halfway through the day then again at night, as I use it quite a bit. But I was having concerns about battery life as my power usage readings were always higher than everyone elses when idle.
I use my phone as my music player while I commute, although that doesn't seem to be very taxing, I let the music play overnight with the battery at 100%, ten hours later it was still at 65%. But I was not sure about during use, I always felt the percentage went down too quickly.
I'm a Nexus S user, so I can't comment on what battery life is considered "normal" for Desire S.
What I do know is that:
With your usage, that would be normal for Nexus S. In fact, better than my setup (which is stock 2.3.4 ROM). Three hours of music + 1 hour of video and your phone's still alive?
Amazing.
What ROM are you on?
Now I want me a Desire S!!
Edit: I missed the fact that during the 3-hour music, the screen is mostly off. Well, no longer *that* amazing (sorry ), but still considerably better than my Nexus S!
The point to note is the angle of the graph when the screen is on compared to that when the screen is off
Without stating the obvious screen usage kills the battery, so I'd suggest keeping the screen bright ness to a minimum and I'd recommend against using the auto setting as it defaults way to high, you'll only need high brightness in direct sunlight
I get similar numbers, I'd consider your usage as heavy and undercut consider taking a spare charger with you so that you can top up during day after periods of heavy usage
Instal an application like battery monitor widget to log your battery usage while the device is sleeping (screen off and not playing music) to determine if you are suffering from a battery drain

Good tips. I just tried turning the brightness down (it was at max) and I barely noticed the difference until it got below 50%! This may significantly increase battery life, we'll see.

I've already tried using battery monitors - and I was constantly getting higher readings than other users (i.e. Battery Monitor Widget would never go below 14mA on sleep, when other users were getting 6-9 mA) so I was thinking maybe the readings are false. Hence the reason for this thread - rather than using mA readings, I thought I'd post this and compare the actual battery life with other users.

The screen wasn't off for the whole time while listening to music, I was using Whatsapp for most of the time along side. I'm on the 1.1 beta Superkid CM7 ROM.
Whoa! That's not normal battery life. Please see my guide thread, and especially see the last post I made this morning.
Ben is right though, screen brightness at 100% won't be helping your cause. I leave mine at 45% when indoors.
PM me if you need help.

Thanks, your guide was very handy. I've considered all the things there, but as I have been crying about for the last couple of weeks, no matter what ROM I use, my power consumption (according to Battery Monitor Widget) never went below 14mA. In CM7 (the ROM I use), the one item always eating most battery (whether phone is idle or heavily used), is "Mobile Standby". In other ROMs, "Mobile Standby" is much further down the list as it should be, but my usage is still never lower than 14mA.
I figured perhaps there was something wrong in the readings, or in the information displayed, so decided to just do a subjective test by using the device very heavily just to see what the battery drain would be like.
So my case above, was a 5 hour period of heavy internet browsing, internet messaging (Whatsapp), 3 hour music playback (continuous, while messaging/browsing), 1 hour video playback, with a combination of 2G, 3G, no signal, and bad coverage areas, a bit of GPS usage, and the screen was on for a large portion of the time, on 100% brightness.
As you said in your guide - when you do a second charge in the middle of the day, the battery life for that charge is lower than an overnight charge. Although I haven't really taken notice of this, the above took place in the afternoon, after being charged from around 50% to 100%. I kept it plugged into a USB charger until around 3pm, then conducted the above drainage test.
When you say this is not normal battery life, what do you mean? Should I have still had a lot more remaining charge after all that heavy drainage + screen on (at max brightness) for most of the time?

I suppose if you have bad signal coverage AND heavy use AND screen at 100% brightness then maybe over 5 hours its to be expected. I must admit I've never tried recreating this. What do you get with more normal use typically? Or is this normal for you? I have found those current monitor apps/widgets to be so inconsistent I've stopped using them. Instead, I've started looking at apps that monitor CPU and Wake Lock times. I've found it much more helpful in tracking down battery drain.

Due to my long daily commute, this is almost my normal use (although not this excessive).
What app would you recommend to monitor CPU and Wake Lock times?
Thanks.

Having a look at the app, I don't see how it helps determining causes of battery drain? Could anyone shed a bit more light?
For example these are my top entry in "Wakelocks" and "Since charged":
android.media.MediaPlayer
com.tbig.playerpro.PlayerPro
3 h 51 m 1 s (13861 s) Count:180 44.1%
GTALK_CONN
Google Services
3 m 34 s (214 s) Count:1669 0.7
What do all those figures actually mean?
That's quite normal for a heavy usage with max brightness. But i also noticed that between 100% and 50% brightness there's not much difference. So i just set it around 50% outdoor and 30% indoor.
I think those figures mean that the music player is keeping your device awake for those 3 hours you played the music. Which probably explains the earlier part of your graph where it's awake but screen is not on. I think.

On my tf300 the screen used about 90% of the battery, while my tf700 says wifi uses about 55% and screen is only about 40% Is this normal?
Could people post some screenshots of their properly functioning battery usage? Maybe this will help us figure out if our batteries are acting normally.
Its so frustrating... after going through 6 devices exchanged... i think i got a good one but my previous experience has me scrutinizing this one while i worry about the 2 remaining days on my store return policy.
Normal
You've got a normal unit in terms of battery life. This is my third unit and I too had concern with battery life in the past so ended up taking some poll on this forum. Also I compared my original and second unit with battery life and they were identical.
So anyways, my conclusion which seems to be agreed (or at least noone said different) is followings:
1. You have about 10+%/hr drain if reading ebook or watching video in low brightness setting (even wifi on).
2. Active browsing drains battery significantly and goes up to 20%/hr hence only 5 hours or so of battery.
3. Power save mode can get us additional 1+ hours.
ASUS advertized 9.5 hours are in power save mode, video watching (with WIFI on but not active browsing).
*These are screen on time.
Some of us are hoping, this doubling of battery use with active browsing is fixed by software in the future but most likely hardware related so chance is slim here. But I now got docking station, which I use more like portable charger than the actual keyboard, and with it I am fine with battery life on infinity.

Wi-Fi is way to high, my Nexus 7 has been on all day with Wi-Fi enabled, I've only used it for a few minutes so far today with the screen on and Wi-Fi is 8.6% and the screen 48%, the same ratio is seen with my mobile phone HTC One X.
With a tablet with a 10" screen, that is by the far the biggest consumer of power even if only used for a handful of minutes, nothing should be above the screen in terms of power usage. I've pointed this out before here with other similar screen shots of power usage, there is definitely a problem there.
This is either a hardware issue affecting many TF700's, or a software issue. It might be worth checking that the Wi-Fi isn't set to high performance mode as that will prevent it entering low power mode and can increase power consumption considerably.
Regards
Phil
There is no faulty hardware, its just bad hardware design. This tablet has a high res screen but a tiny battery. The same exact battery that the Prime had.
Battery life cannot be improved, gotta live with it.
Docking isnt a real charger because dont charge tablet batterty. That is good because dont spend power on convertors up/down or down/up is more like a second battery.
I used to buy a 3200mAh Extender Battery for my note except the heat who means losing energy inside was only a 2800mAh battery at 3.6V and from this get up to 5V to charge via usb the SGN and from usb 5V phone go down till 4.2V another 0.8V or close lost on heat.
So docking works ok as second battery w/o pull up the internal one what is ok for some and not ok for others

Honestly the last time i buy an asus mobile product thats for sure. Im not rich and cant afford to be spending 500$ on broken alpha-test level equipment. Maybe ill just return it anyways and experiment with them that way, but i think thats a rather dickish thing to do and would prefer to avoid it, especilly after going through 6 legitimately broken units in a row

Wi-Fi using more than the screen isn't normal on any other device!
My Nexus 7 is currently on 3d 6h 39m on battery, screen is 60%, Tablet idle 22%, Wi-Fi 5%, Media server 5%, FireFox 3%, Android System 3%
Screen on time is 2 hours 48 minutes, and Wi-Fi on time is 22 hours and 22 minutes, I have 53% battery life left, now that's normal

Yup. Again actual statistics to calculate they use is probably based on the hours it is on i.e. for wifi even during the sleep/screen off. So % is not really accurate though WIFI does drain battery.
Just go with 10%/hr (without browse) and 20%/hr (with browse) and see if your unit meet this.

You simply cannot rely on the stat that transformer infinity is showing. Because I can basically flip the stat by using straight 3 hours from 100% with screen on time in which case WIFI is on only for 3 hours as well as screen. Then % is signficantly different.
So yes. WIFI draining more than screen is abnormal; however, the method of calculation that ASUS is using is simply inaccurate.
However, I still do believe WIFI module that Infinity using is problematic in sense that suddenly with browsing the battery drain rate almost doubles, which is simply too much of battery drain but definitely not as much as the stat shows.

If you really dislike it so much, then return it and move on already! It sounds like you are very unhappy with the device. After trying 7 different TF700's and still not being happy, why are you even thinking of keeping the device? Regardless of what others believe and have experienced it's pretty simple - you don't like it and you obviously can't enjoy it, so why does it even matter what others think?? I just don't get it... Geez...
Please, return it and get something else already!

Once in a while, when your significant other yells at you, you might use your phone a bit less. Rate this thread to express how the Google Pixel 2 XL's battery performs under light use. A higher rating indicates that the device goes a long time when you're using the phone sparingly: no gaming or video/audio streaming, light web browsing, some calling and texts, etc.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Out and about (LTE/cell service only) - 13%/hour
At home on Wifi - 6-7%/hour
21h with 4h screen on, 40% left
With what I would consider light usage (email, web browsing, messaging, lots of YouTube) I have really been impressed with the battery life! Over 8hrs screen on time with my first few cycles so far. Based on this, I'm guessing that even with heavier usage (games, etc.) that I would still be pretty happy with the longevity. With very similar usage I was getting around 4-5hrs SOT on my original Pixel XL and was happy with it. Interested to hear how the battery has been for others as well.
I've been very happy. Last night I forgot to charge so I woke up with 48% battery. I plugged in for 25 minutes while getting ready for work. Left the house with 87%. Now, 9 hours later, I have had 2 hours screen on time of mixed wifi/LTE, browsing, email, Facebook, texting, a few pictures and a little YouTube. 20% brightness. Location set to high accuracy, Now Playing turned on, AOD off, Google account sync on. I am at 65%. That's a drain of 22%. Under the same conditions and usage my Nexus 5X would have drained over 40%.
This is the first smartphone I've had (I've had a Nexus One, Galaxy SII, Nexus 5, Nexus 5X and now Pixel 2 XL) that I can say that the battery life is GREAT.

This phone is ridiculous. I haven't charged it since Monday...
I won't pretend I'm a "heavy usage" person with my phone. But I've never been able to get 2 full days of usage from any of my previous phones. Most of them barely lasted 24 hours. This one is going to reach 48+ hours, easy.
I work from home full time so I'm connected to my home wifi almost all the time, which helps. I get out of the house a total of 2-3 hours a day to walk the dog, go to the gym, or meet clients for lunch. So during that time it's on full LTE with no wifi. I tend to use the phone for 2-3 client calls per day (30-60 minutes each while paired with my bluetooth headphones), listening to music at the gym (~60 minutes while paired with my bluetooth headphones), some light usage of social networking apps and Youtube videos throughout the day.
I know battery life consists of a large amount of factors but it's safe to say that with the same usage, this phone outlasts all my previous phones by at least 1.5x. It's fantastic.
Battery life sucks now compared to pre-February security patch.
Light endurance usage: 15% brightness w/auto brightness off just browsing, Facebook and a little texting on wifi. That's no games, Bluetooth off, Location on high accuracy but not doing much (ie no Maps navigation), no video, no music, no camera, no phone calls etc.
Pre February security update:
Screen on: ~10%/hr
Stand by: ~0.3333%/hr
Best battery life: 9 hours SOT over 1 day, 16 hours off the charger
Now (after February and March security updates):
Screen on: ~15%/hr
Stand by: ~0.5%/hr
Best battery life: 6 hours SOT over 1 day off the charger
Stand by battery drain up like 60% and SOT battery drain up like 50%. Very disappointing for a phone that is only 5 months old. If I break it down to a per mAh it's now no better than my Nexus 5X.
After first charge I am getting 2%/h standby drain, hope things will improve
SOT and idle drain still holding strong for my usage patterns. April update + root + Flash kernel. Not a social media user, and don't use many power/ram intensive apps :good:

Not me. I stream my music and play over Bluetooth. But for reference, the Nexus 6P was rated at 100 hours. So I doubt the Pixel 2 XL would be any worse.

I listen to music offline. For the first several months of having the phone I could play over Bluetooth and I'd use about 7% per hour. Playing over a wired connection used 4% per hour. Now it's like 8% per hour over a wired connection and 12% per hour over Bluetooth. Damn monthly updates.

Compared to what it was for the 1st 3 months, yeah, that's bad. Maybe he never experienced how good battery life was before several of the updates so he doesn't really have a basis for comparison. Like I said, with the same time off the charger and screen on time I have about the same 20% battery left as well but for the first few months that same off the charger and screen on time left me with about 50% left. Draining almost 30% battery for the same use just a few months later is a big deal. Oh, and that's after trying a factory reset which at first (about a half a day) seemed like it helped but quickly showed that it didn't help at all.
What you were getting for the first three months was remarkable for sure but wasn't what everyone gets. Like a lot of things battery life has a bell curve and you were just on the extreme right of it. Now you're "only" getting what the majority, middle part of the bell is getting and unhappy with it. Still doesn't mean it's bad. Now it's just average.

Hi. I've pre ordered the moto one vision yesterday, basicly out of curiosity about a moto running on Samsung Exynos 9609 soc.
I have a motorola one already which is built on Qualcomm msm8953 and battery is great on that device.
How's the battery holding up on Moto One Vision, concidering it only has a 3500 mAh battery and a 6"+ screen, 48MP cam etc?
I kind of feel like the battery is a bit undersized for this device, but I may be wrong.
Please comment about your battery experience below, or fill in with questions about battery.
Fully charged yesterday, today still i have 81%
After the first charging: 5,5h SOT and still about 22% was avalible. Not bad.
i bought it last Friday, charged twice since then, i have an impression of battery drain, but i think it's because i just use it more often, just like every phone while it's new
Thanks everyone for your replies. Maybe it's not as bad as I thought after all.
Please continue with replies and / or questions about battery.
I read somewhere that Motorola One has great battery back-up!
today, here confirmed !
For me, 1,5 days
As it's said... a picture worth a thousand words...
Here's what AccuBattery says about my One Vision.
I use it mainly to Instagram and some youtube (light usage on that one). Whatsapp and Google Maps.
(#1 - @81% it would last: 19h and half combined use, 7h with screen on, 24h on standby)

Battery Life Opinion
I just bought Motorola One Vision, but I´m concerned about battery life (while waiting for the cell phone to be delivered for me). I saw some reviews tellign that battery life is poor , and some telling that battery life is OK (1 day - 20 hours - normal use). Can anyone tell me if for a normal user like me that don´t play games in the cell phone, just use social networks, and a little of youtube the battery lasts at least from 6 AM to 11 PM? (my normal daily use)? I´m in doubt since there are people telling the battery life is good (one day and a half) and some people are telling that battery lasts only 6 to 10 hours. Which one is true? If someone have a trusted review, please share.
Thanks!
I've had the One Vision for 3 weeks now and have no problems with battery life.
I get around 6-7 hours of SOT.
I 'm what you would call a normal user like yourself.
Battery seems drain fast took of charger 100% 6:45am took couple photos in garden checked FB/ Twitter emails 7:10am 93% , this could boil down to fact it's had one full charge over night since getting and may settle etc in few days this is with latest update with June security , hope future updates can improve battery and camera

Just got a Vision One, after sporting a G5s + for the past 3years.
Wheras i could still get 2days of use out of my G5s+ , i have the impression the Vision just drains really fast. Maybe i'm just using it more because it's new ? I don't really have that impression though.

Just like you - sort've...
I'm considering getting either the 'Moto G7 plus' or 'Moto One vision' .
At first I thought I was going down the 'Vision' route due to 'better specs' - until I started reading about 'poor battery drain' despite having a 3500mAh battery
My current phone 'only' has a 3000Mah with 5.2" screen that with my [very] light usage it'll last the day with still ~35-50% battery left over (depending if I get bored @ work & play a game or 2)
I mainly only have phone for emergency, some occasional game playing (subway surfer etc - no 3d intensive gaming) & music listening (not into watching videos on a phone or social media usually) - so 'screen on' time is usually pretty low - & would also like to hear 'real life' reviews of how long the battery does last

I've it for one month and for me the battery usage is ok. I go to work at 7 am, and I put it on charge at 10 pm with 40~30% of battery which for my use is ok. I noticed that if I play a game for 40 min or play a video for around 30~40 minutes the battery is at 10% at 10 pm. So my verdict is that for a user that don't play games/watch videos a lot, the battery can stand a day and ends up with 40%, but if you like to play then maybe you should consider another option.. My guess is that the battery drain is due to the screen... The good points are the screen is very good and Android is very fast and good (I had a Samsung A50 before).

Yeah sort of guessed the screen may play a big part in battery drain... Larger Screen needs more power to display,
Those that check their Twitbook accounts ever few minutes may be the ones that complain about fast battery drain the most, although I have seen some personnal reviews about battery loss overnight when left alone
Some have said that it's 99% when they go to bed but when they wake up it's down to ~80% (I assume it's like 10pm to 7am), which surely can't be because of the screen .. I assume this is because of overnight syncing issues from social apps running in background etc.
Since (I'm led to believe) the vision is 'pure android' - no bloat (apart from a couple of additional moto apps - I think) I guess as long as I disable all auto sync apps & not have too many app installed running in background (I mainly only have Sophos Security [Antivirus etc] & Tasker [For 'While in zone change volumes etc]) I should get less drain overnight.... In theory
It's a mostly pure android experience. I'm not a heavy social media user. Here are some screen shots. I unhook at 545am and I'm on 20% at 10pmView attachment 4803617

For me it's ok drive regardless of the battery % at night I always charge it overnight, so it's fine for my use.
Hi, my moto on vision after two weeks...
https://imgur.com/gallery/vPlsqyI
50hs total and 4hs 37min sot
My phone has SOT (at 63% birghtness) around 5-6 hours and with normal usage it lasts about two days.
But I'd recommend having a charger nearby. After 40-ish hours I still had 25-30% battery.

Yeah Im having a same experience as you ,5 to 6 hours of SOT is typically what I get when using wifi, lop off an hour when using LTE though.
