Front Camera not responding - Nokia Lumia 820

My Nokia Lumia 820's front facing camera just stopped working. I tried a soft reset and hard reset, that still doesn't solve the problem. I cannot access it in the camera app or any other third party application. Attached is a pic of what happens when i switch to front camera, it just stays like that and in the third party apps, it just keeps loading. Please help

[Q] Front facing camera not working on Android M

Hello,
I installed the developer preview as soon as it came out. Today I noticed my front facing camera is not working. It was working 3 days ago. In the stock camera app, the button to switch to front facing is not present. I installed a couple of other apps and there is no option for the front facing camera there too. So I tried to wipe the stock camera app's data. After that, the app does not start at all, it just crashes. 3rd party apps still work, but just for the rear camera.
I tried to reflash the system image for android m, but still, the problem persists. I happen to have a spare front facing camera from another broken nexus 5 (RIP old friend), and I still have this issue. Anyone got any ideas?

Unfortunately, Camera has stopped. [M Preview]

First off, I have not seen this anywhere else, but appologies if i've missed it!
Even on a completely clean install of the M preview, upon opening camera, and once passed the 'OK, GOT IT' button, camera closes. Every time. Regardless of what i do, clear cache, update, remove updates etc. Happens on Preview 1 and 2. Doesnt happen in 5.0/5.1/5.1.1. I thought it might be the fact the camera was damaged being reported in some new way to the system, forcing the closure (i ripped the cable slightly when repairing another part (i know, dumb, but i slipped)), but have since replaced with a new part and still have issues.
Has anyone else had this, and fixed it? Thanks!
Hello, I have the same problem. Unfortunately, my problem persists on older versions of android. My problem seems to be the front facing camera, because with a third party app, the rear camera works. I replaced the front camera, but it still does not work in any app, and the Camera app still does not start. Tried removing the front camera - app again stops working.
That is the same for me. Snapchat will use the rear camera fine, but doesn't register the phone as even having a front camera

Same here! I can take photos through Tinder, and download them to my phone (although sometimes the Tinder app will crash too). But whenever I open the Camera app I get the "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped" message. I've tried multiple reboots, closing the app, not closing the app, resetting the cache, etc. Nothing works.
I believe this all started when I tried to take a "selfie" one time (I guess that's God's way of telling me never to do that again). When I switched to the front camera all hell broke loose. Now I'm guessing it's "stuck" on the front camera and I can't run the app even to switch it back!

Can't connect to camera (rear). Problem with software or hardware?

Hey guys.
I got a problem with my Mi4 with Lineage 13 (6.0.1).
I tried a couple of camera apps, but my rear camera doesn't work. The app starts for a short time including button for pics etc. but the display stays black (seems like someone had his thumb on the lense). Then I get a message "Can't connect to camera" and the app closes.
One thing, when I start a camera app, the lens make a sound like it would took a photo.
What do you guys think? Camera defect or problem with the custom rom? For notice, I had the same problem with Lineage 14 (7.1.1).
Thanks in advance.
software problem.
Try clean flashing again. Or shift to other ROMs

Change default camera to rear facing instead of front facing

Hi guys,
After the Nougat 7.1.1 update, my front camera seems to have stopped working. At first, when I'm opening the camera app, it says that the application might be in use by other applications so I forced close it, clear data, and even restarted the phone. But none if it did work, however, when I'm opening 3rd party camera applications it shows up fine but no option of changing to front facing.
I would like to ask if there's a line of code so I can change the initial startup of the camera to rear? I knew that my front facing camera is not working when I tried to check the diagnostics and it says that it doesn't support this function. Hope you guys help me out with this one. Thanks guys

camera not working

hello everybody
today my camera app stopped working, starts and closes immediately. i tried clearing cache, restarting in safe mode etc. but it wont help.
Sometimes the camera app opens but doesn't autofocus.
Please help me
Try other apps like IG, snap, etc. that have access to the cameras. If you get the same results, odds are that, either the front, or the rear sensor has failed.

there seems to be no solution
since you cleanred the cache already have you tried reinstalling the apk? if that doesnt work then just for testing purposes make a backup and then do a factory reset and test. this will hopefully help determine if its hardware related or software.
same issue did everything, thinking of rooting device and try other things. any suggestions? please help
Same problem, I even replaced the camera with a used good one from ebay. Same issue, so definitely software related.
