[Q] Should I use regular or s version for CM10.1? - General Questions and Answers

Hello!
I'm running Cyanogenmod10.1 Nightlies on my SGS and I am not quite sure which version of Semaphore kernel I should use with it.
Are there any major differences between the regular and the s version or can I use whichever I feel suits my needs?

I know what the kernel itself does, I just don't know the differences between the two versions except for the hugemem tweak. I can't find any info on that anywhere else either.

[Q] Kernel? Radio? What does it all mean?

Hello all.
I'm currently running SuperAosp 6.4 (and I'm very satisfied)
Some of the settings crash and I can glean from the forums that it might be connected with what kernel I'm using.
(current kernel is 2.6.35.7-SuperAosp-S-UV) what are the benefits of using another?
Which is good for me? (build is GRI54 - a europhone)
Also, radio? I've tried flashing different ones with varying results, I'm currently on 19023XXKB1 - is there a newer one?
How do I figure out what kernels and radios are meant for my phone?
Edit: Also, I'd love to update to 2.3.4 but keep my lovely drop-down-menu-power-control-thing.
If anyone answers maybe this could become a how-wat-sticky

[Q] TW JB Kernel for Verizon SGS3?

I am rooted and unlocked and was hoping someone could offer an opinion on which kernel would be best to run with stock JB rom. I would like the option to OC and as far as I can tell there are 2 main kernels; KToonsez and Leankernel. Are there any more? Either way, which would be most highly recommended? I realize what one thinks works best might not be the case for another, but I am open to suggestions. I also found the Siyah kernel but I think it only works on international versions.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
There is another TW JB kernel in the original development section here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2063058. There is also Faux kernel for TW JB here:http://faux.androidro.ms/d2tmo/beta/d2tmoatt-faux123-kernel-tw-015b03.zip. Here is the homepage for it: https://plus.google.com/u/0/109078966818501160423/posts/ahiHu35k2p5, and the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785466. It is supposed to work fine on Verizon. I haven't used any of them to be able to offer any experiences.

[Q] Help with JB version

Hi,
I am currently using a customised Samsung Gingerbread Build with some personal modifications, I wanted to shift to an JB build, and wanted to know which build is best for Daily use? (Wifi and calling working.).
Which one should I go with? Just confused which one should I use. and unresponsiveness at times and other small bugs are ok as on my last device (Apollo), I am used to new and/or buggy builds.
Again: Only requrments are basic Wifi and Calling,

[Q] Stock like rom with OC kernel, SGT2 P3110?

Title says it all really, i'm trying to find a stock like ROM (with all the stock features) but with an OC'd kernel for the GPU and CPU.
If someone could point me in the right direction that would help a lot - looking at all the threads that exist for custom ROM's and kernels is overwhelming for a beginner.
Thanks.

i've seen that one, but it says you need 4.1.1. the latest for my tablet is 4.0.3 according to KIES.
also its for the 10.1" model, is that compatible?

nope that isn't , my bad, don't try
i guess i should clarify the question better:
my 7" 3110 has 4.0.3 as its stock ROM, kies says nothing newer out there. Thats whats making it harder to find a 'stock' OC'd kernel/ROM for it
since i cant find anything, i'll assume it doesnt exist.
will just go to the CM nightlies and deal with whatever official samsung apps i lose.
just wanted to let people know that hte latest CM10.1 nightly is working well, with this kernel

Best custom rom right now for GT-P5100

I just found my old galaxy tab 2 10.1 today and I'm planning to install a custom rom in it but what is the custom rom for my device? I'm thinking on installing Slim7 but is it the best one and stable rom to install?
They're all similar as they use same device and kernel configuration and sources. Some ROMs are lighter than others.
They've all their own features, find a ROM which fits your needs.
You only also might want to give Android 4.4.4 or 6.0.1 ROMs a try, imo they run a little bit smoother.

Ok I"ll look into those and does GApps can also be the culprit of slowing down the tab? I also found that using L Speed and set it to performance or something really helps but I've never head of that app though
