Is there a way to change the status bar (where it shows Wifi, 3G/4G, Time) and so on in an HTC-esque look? The reason I picked out the HTC DNA is because I hate hate hate hate the way the Samsung UI looks compared to that of the DNA, I have a 14 day trial and the lack of an external sd card and the battery is killing me and the Galaxy was my 2nd choice but I hate the status bar
ROM or Theme customization certainly has access to the status bar UI.

the status bar is one of the easiest things to theme IMHO, not many .9 files, usually only have to deal with just the SystemUI.apk, unless you are adding MODs that incorporate into settings.apk or something.
anyway, could you be more specific about what you want, because the DNA has no toggles, it's just a plain pull down...
or are you asking for a black status bar, (or HTC colored, either or can be done) and then the signal icons,, like wifi/signal/battery/4g/3g etc..?

ive been searching for some time now and i really cant quite find what im looking for, i have rearranged my statusbar icons layout to match the ios statusbar layout of icons, now my only problem is the notification icons the overlap with the clock, what i want to do is to stop dislplaying the icon of the notification and just show the stat_notify_more icon instead regardless if there is only just one or more notifications, does anyone have an idea how to do this?

dear friends
i am having samsung s7 in which they just gave the nougat update and promplty the notification messages have become microscopic. can you please guide me as to how to increase their font size
my eyes will be relieved
thanks in advance
Can't you do this in settings/display/screen zoom and font?
try screen zoom
try screen zoom option in display settings.
that would be your best option
Thanks but this doesn't effect notifications
Agreed

Did you figure it out? After the latest update I can't read notifications either. Every change to font size, screen size changes everything but the notification dropdown fonts size.
No sorry...still waiting
I read here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s7/764561-nougat-notifications-text-size.html to set your screen zoom to Large. That did increase the size of the notification font for me. At least it isn't SUPER tiny.
Try to keep the zoom at Any position and you will find that it does Not affect notification area

On my Verizon S7 Edge with Nougat, I am able to increase status bar, notification area and font size by changing these settings: display, screen zoom and font - set screen zoom to large - this enlarges everything on screen, including text and notifications. I then reduce text size to small which does not affect the notification and status bar. Be sure to hit the apply button on upper right. Hope that helps.
Thanks. It does change a wee bit! However please share what screen resolution you are keeping
I'm on the same boat, my old eyes are struggling. Is there no simpler solution?

Sir the simpler solution is to load some other launcher like Nova -- that should solve your problem.... but i am looking for a way to increase the stock launcher.....
regards
Same here on a Note 5. Notifications are microscopic. Also, adjusting the zoom up screws up my icon placement on screen pages and all the parts of my custom clock. (ZooperWidget).
- Set zoom to "Large" (all the way to the right).
- Set font size to two positions to the right of "tiny".
- Set the font to Gothic Bold. (Not sure if this made a difference in the notifications but it helps everywhere else.)
Good luck,
Rumple
The problem with setting screen size larger than medium is, it then will not keep any dark (or other, I assume) theme - which I must have - can't stand the bright white!
I may give up too, & install Nova launcher.
I had GoodLock, which was wonderful & allowed all kinds of customization, but which has still not been updated for nougat! ?
The only option that worked to some extent is to maximize zoom in the settings->accessibility->vision->screen zoom and font. Set up your zoom to max. This will increase the size of notification font a bit, not as good as before, but tolerable.
Overall, it looks like Google needs better accessibility/usability team. Very limited ability to adapt, the complexity of the process, and the lack of documentation and help looks very unprofessional.
Try an app called Big Notifications
Yes - I've tried Big Notifications app and it works not as I expected - this app doesn't enlarge font in notifications bar but makes extra notification there - after tapping new notification "BIG FONTS" you are moved to extra app that shows notifications in extra large font.
Better way for me is making screen to large and font to small - it makes enough bigger notification fonts for me
Do you know how to make the status bar transparent fully? Its very annoying..
For the home screen just go in settings and hide all the icons. I would like to know how to hide it in chrome without root. Samsung has full screen mode.

I won't make the icon transparent. I would make the black bar transparent, so that the color is the same like the app
That depends on the app usually, apps can theme the status bar when they launch, you do get very nice transparent substratum themes but they probably wouldn't change the status bar unless they theme that app too.

This is exactly correct. Your at the mercy of the app. Unless the app can be themed, it's what it is.

Samsung has a full screen mode for all apps. I'm surprised oneplus doesn't offer this. I sent in a request on their website.
