[Q]{Discussion}The CM7 "Monthly" issue. - T-Mobile LG G2x

I started this thread to discuss the issue of our CM7 monthly, or lack there of. Is CM7 officially dead for our device? If not, could we, as a community band together and maybe, register for push updates? Would that help?

Like I said in another thread, I can maintain CM7 nightlies, but it won't be useful at all if the CM team stopped working on this version. The only improvement that I could think of is getting bluetooth call to work on the newer baseband actually.

Lets use this thread as a petition

Eh, petitions work, but Mazouts right. I would have tried building it already, but building on my computer.....well, I had one successful sync with cm10 repo ,but any farther and my comp takes a poo. Satallite no likey.
Anyways, the current release of Cm7, Which would be March's release, is solid. I wasnt, complaining, just curious.
Why fix something that isn't broken.

Here's the changelog, several commits to CM7 source code since the 3/01 build, just no build. So if someone syncs and pushes we'd be ok. I've thought about it. I tore down my Linux VMWare a couple months ago because I was just running the nightlies. I remember it was a complete horrible experience. And my other Linux box is running on a P4 with 1.5 GB RAM.
My Dual's and Quad and running Windows.
http://changelog.bbqdroid.org/#p999/cm7/next

Reason i got rid of the last CM7 nightly was because out of the blue i just started getting stuck on "1x" signal, and i dont even know how because from what i read thats CDMA. Couldnt get it back on high speed, I wish they would just use the traditional signal symbols like 3g/4g etc. Other then that it was pretty stable except for my MMS issues. Used a metric fuk ton less battery then this oem rom which im only getting 12-14 hours out of, and was alot snappier.

I have a regular 4g icon on my cm7 rom

tmobile, i just flashed nightlies and mazouts kernel, per your recommendations all over the board check the baseband version in the attached image

Well the H should be 3G. Im never in an area with 3G just 2G or 4G and when weak enough, GSM or G.
You do need to flash tje newbaseband fix
also download and run GETRIL from playstore and get the 21Y RIL.

I flashed the new baseband fix, and phone wouldnt connect to the network, so i reverted back to the old popcorn band lol phone connected but calls sounded like i had my head in a popcorn machine, so i reflashed the new baseband fix, now its reconnecting and making calls again, then i did the RIL update, which was out of date, and heres what i got now, the date is still the same on the baseband, unless there is a newer one out there im not getting.

Runnin fine right now, once again battery life significantly extended compared to the stock rom, i assume it has something to do with the fact that CM7 turns off everything with the screen off. Sucks because it ruins my weather app lol

Wind Users and MIUI!

Hello fellow Wind Mobile users,
Is anyone here using MIUI? If so, would you be kind enough to post your /system/etc/apns-conf.xml file?
Also, does mms AND data work for you guys? I'm having a hard time getting it working..
I can get you the cm 7 one if you want. Mms working great here. Data too. Almost 6mbps dl and 2 up.

There must be some huge issue with MIUI and Wind, I'm trying the new Dev's port of it now, hopefully this one works!
Works for me
I'm using version 1.11.4 miui port by Whitehawkx and data works great! Only issue i have is it keeps going in to airplane mode randomly and staying there only fix is reboot. Very annoying. But do tell if you can get data to work on the optimized one available on these forums!

Yeah I've seen T-Mobile users using that one no problem. But then for some reason Wind users are having difficulty with it. I think there might be an internal setting making it specific to T-Mobile users. Not 100% sure though.

Basically what I did was flash Weapon G2X, grab the /system/etc/apns-conf.xml file, install MIUI, replace the apns-conf.xml file with the one from Weapon G2X, reboot, reset to factory defaults, then when I rebooted it had the apns setup.

I downloaded the original GB update back in July, just saw this and haven't had a chance to try it. Anyone know if it is an update over the previous "fix". I sure hope it is, just did the daily battery pull about ten minutes ago. It would be nice to get that fixed.

[How To] Fix popping/clicking on new/old baseband

How to Fix Calling on Any Baseband and Any ROM
- For a ROM that doesn't support the new baseband (March 2012), flash this: http://owain.hopto.org/T-Mobile LG G2x (p999)/Domination/new_baseband.zip (Alternate link: http://d-h.st/OkL) Thank you owain94
- Those on the old (March 2011, July 2011) baseband, and want to update: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674901 Thank you Eagl3007
- For a ROM that only supports the new one (but you're on the old one), flash this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1135176&d=1339901539 (Alternate link: http://d-h.st/UlN) Thank you Volk
Note:
This is not my work, I put special thanks to all in this. This is just for those who have the problem and keep asking for a solution.
Caution: Whenever flashing a ROM (after any ROM flash), you must always flash the fix accordingly right after.
Bluetooth calling on the new baseband does not work unless on a stock (2.3.4) ROM.
This does NOT replace your current baseband. It only fixes the problems with calling, keeping your current baseband!
First bump, do a similar for Ppl on old base band and they flash a incompatible ROM.

If you arent getting a popping/clicking noise then you havent did anything wrong, certain factors for what your problem is, could be in call volume is low, bad reception, or bad reception on the other persons end, but there's also other factors I'm not entirely sure.

Incorrect.
If you are on the March 2012 baseband, BT CALL AUDIO does NOT work. Media audio does. This applies to ANY ROM that's not stock LG 2.3.4. There is the option to run a "modded" stock ROM such as BuRom & kewes (sp?) rooted, modded stock 2.3.4. Pair up with faux's GB specfic kernel and it's not terribly bad
You can also attempt to downgrade to an older baseband via kdz method.
As for G2Xer's question, I have not used it, I'll take a look at it, but I think it's more of a driver issue or something like that causing the problem.

Let's try comparing logcats from a g2x with v21y baseband and stock gingerbread connecting to a Bluetooth device and making a call, to a cm7 device doing the same thing. We should be able to find some sort of discrepancy correlation in the logs if we look hard enough.

I don't think it will get fixed though.
The story I've always been told is LG needed to release something, maybe code, and it's something they didn't have to under open source.
Something like that.
Sent from...I can't tell you, the Nazi XDA Moderators will shut it down.
lol i have been following googles code site pertaining to this problem and it seems like even the CM team has ignored it since cm7 came out right after the v21y baseband release by LG that "fixed gps signal"....well it also broke radio usage until owain92 fixed it. but still nobody has solved the cell over bluetooth issue. media plays just fine, just not phone calls. im hoping that by mazout360 and king-nai compiling themselves and incorporating hard fixes into their rom, that they will not overlook the bluetooth issue. i have a feeling that their rom wil be phenomonal when its finished.

third is that my phone number says unknown and my voicemail number is also not known I have a feeling this is related to my mms erros too.
Thats about all please help.I did have cyanogenmod 7.1 installed before and was having the messaging issue then too.I did switch to another version of hellfire after that and everything was working great except my battery indicator had ? mark in it and the phone shut down and had a hard time rebooting.I used g2x scrubber before I installed the hellsandwich rom and followed directions to the t so I dunno whats wrong
Thanksfor any help,Steve
When you go into settings/about phone what baseband shows up?

Were you originally on 2.3.4? I don't know if it will help or not but if so try flashing the new baseband fix zip file. Its a sticky I believe in the g2x general section. I know its meant to fix problems with calls but it couldn't hurt I guess.

yes I was on 2.3.4 I will give it a shot and let you know how it works out.
Thanks,Steve
No problem. I double checked, its stickied in the general section under “how to fix popping in calls" just download it to SD card and flash in cwm and reboot. Hope it helps!

well it was worth a try but no go,any other suggestions?
I honestly have no idea. I'm currently running an ICS rom (eaglesblood) and have none of those issues. However my voice mail had the same "no voice mail number" error. I'm assuming you're on t-mobile...if so, just put this number in for your voice mail and it will work properly:
+18056377243 This will definitely fix your voice mail...as for your SMS messages...hopefully justjackyl comes in here and can give you some better information
I think you should try reflashing your rom. Or try a different one. You have a lot of weird issues. When you go from gb to ics or vice versa are you wiping /system?
Good call twitch. Make sure you wipe /system under mounts and storage in CWM!

i attached 2 pics
I switched roms to hellfire 2.4.2 everything works except I have a question mark in battery indicator,no chang if plugged into charger either
phone randomly shuts down on me getril still says ril/baseband dont match i tried switching ril's from the drop down list but nothing changes.
under baseband in getril it say recommended march baseband. Any suggestions?
Whats the model number on the label?
We are not quite sure how you have a may baseband, the P999 basebands carry June and March months. I believe June 15 2011 and the last was March 11 2012.
I keep wondering if your not using the Wind G2x model which is an O2x P990 branded as G2x or even using a P990 in general, which this than would be incorrect ROM and could definitely cause all these issues.
In you screenshot it will say P999 because the ROM build states that, not the phone.
Check your model number sticker please.

Can you get a screenshot of GetRIL for me?
You should be able to screenshot by long pressing power key and screenshot should be an option.
