Apps pop ups - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone ,
This is my first time here so hopefully I can get some help.
Every time I turn on my tab I get app pop ups on my home screen and also automatically apps are saving to my pages, I've gone through my settings and checked to see if I have anything turned on that shouldn't be, if someone could point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated as it's really starting to annoy me.
Cheers Headman

It's a rogue app the causes that. It contains adware and spyware by changing your homepage (monitor what you search), constantly adds search icon on homescreen and comes up with annoying ads in both the notification bar and by pop ups.
Run this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brosmike.airpushdetector&hl=en
And remove those apps.

Agreed, my fiance had one in her phone and it would push notifications, pop-ups, all sorts of invasive stuff. I wanna say she used an app "installer" ( like the ones found in 4shared), which was what installed the "rouge" app.

[Q] Lost phone app that can hide itself?

Is there any apps that are like "wheres my droid" but able to hide themselves from the UI "i would assume its not possible to hide it 100%" since other tools can see the process. but like just to hide it from the average user?
You could run another launcher and hide it from the app drawer that way. I'd say most people around here customize their launchers anyway.

decent start, how would one go about hiding it from the built in uninstaller? if this is possible. the main concern is someone uninstalling it. the average user would just use the default installer/launcher hiding from those 2 specific thing would ensure a much higher success rate of recovery.
seekdroid, you can hide it from the website, after a reboot, it's gone, other than under uninstall. But it takes a couple steps to uninstall it.
thanks ill check it out.
works flawlessly and exactly what i needed. i sent a request asking for the hide feature to relabel the APK with a new icon and rename the process. that would ensure true stealth if the phone enters the wrong hands unless they perform a complete wipe.
Avast anti virus has the feature your looking for. Anti theft that hides itself. Its free in the play store.

I know you tried a detector. Did you try Airpush Detector? That one had never failed me.
Tried that one, shows nothing.

Bump, also getting same ad. Tried every detector out there... Not picking up a thing!
Can you show us a list of installed apps?

Also, the ads are for apps from the playstore - "sexy cutie (live)" and "run run bear" (both of which appear to be made by the same developer).
Thanks for your help!
It may be widgetlocker, try to uninstall it and see if you get it again

Same here, intermittent but annoying.
choosing the notification takes you to the Google play app page
Edit:
Might be GoKeyboard, I think it started after i turned it on.

Are you sure? I have widget locker on my Droid x and my kindle fire and I don't get spam.
sexy cutie - spam
I don't have that widgetlocker, but I receive this spam,
Did anyone solve the issue??? I have uninstalled GO SMS Pro, but seems like something else making it appear in the notification bar...
Go to the Play Store and download Lookout's Ad Detector. It should scan your apps and tell you.

I am guessing the same, could be Go Launcher or Go Keyboard. Coz i also have them installed.
Absolutely Go Keyboard. I used Addons Detector - Notification Monitor, and it showed:
GO Keyboard

Random Menu Bar appeared on phone?

Hi just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this random menu bar that's appeared on my phone? I've closed all applications with es task manager and it's still there. I'm running Jellybeans on a galaxy note 2
If anyone can direct me where to get rid of it would be most appreciated.
Cheers guys!
Do you mean the bar on the side with the icons?
I think the phone has TSF shell launcher, try a launcher like apex or nova

If that doesn't work you can try this app
I had a app popup as the playstore, and it was a spam type popup from an app i installed a long time ago, DOWNLOAD AIRPUSH detector also as a double check if experience any abnormal popups to your GUI . it found the app and i uninstalled it ASAP (it was a workout app)
That popup is not abnormal, it is a feature of the last update. It's called multi-card, and allows you to manage 2 or more applications simultaneously on the screen; if you drag one of the icons on the desktop it opens the corresponding application, and if you drag another will open the new application under the one that is opened before
That's amazing cheers guys! It was properly bothering me becaues it would pop up every now and then and I didn't know why!
Is it possible to add other applications to the selection to use in multi windows?

[Quick Pro Tip] How to Quickly Uninstall Apps Like iOS

Whether you know it or will learn it now, having knowledge of this tip will greatly enhance your android experience.
On your home screen, press and hold the app you wish to uninstall. Then drag it over the "X Remove" at the top of the screen and hover over it. A few seconds later you will notice it will switch from Remove to Uninstall. Voila!
This is the quickest native way that I know of to uninstall an app. The same method works when you view all apps (on the home screen, not the settings).

In depth:
To explain the difference to new Android adopters, take a look at below.
Remove: This will simply remove the SHORTCUT to the app. It will not uninstall anything. Your data for the app will be kept safe.
Uninstall: If you want to completely uninstall the app (as in you do NOT want it on your device anymore), this is what you want.
It's a little unclear at first glance but that's just the way it is. It would have been easier if it said "Remove shortcut" instead of the ambiguous "Remove" which tends to confuse everyone at first.
If you find your device is starting to run a little slower than it used to, cleaning up by removing applications can help bring some of that performance and even battery life back. It's an old and common tip but a very reliable and effective tip that shouldn't be overlooked!
Happy cleaning!

The thread title confused me
sent from the state where marijuana is NOT illegal !
Having come from an iPod Touch, I was used to how users uninstall apps on iOS devices. The user would press and hold on an app and a red X would appear to give the user the option of deleting the app. I found it pretty useful when cleaning up the device.
On Android however, I was frustrated with how one had to uninstall apps until I realized I have been doing it wrong all along. I used to do the tedious method of going to settings, then viewing all the apps, waiting for the list to load, then hunting down the app, then uninstall. Per app. This simple tip tends to be forgotten or unknown because it isn't so obvious to the user.

Also if you use Go Launcher or SPB shell pro etc you can uninstall apps with more ease... just press a x symbol and select the app you want to uninstall and you are done.

Delete SMS from Pop Up

Hi Guys,
Huaewi's messaging app is really bad and not customizable at all. I look for only 1 feature in a messaging app and I.e. An option to delete sms from the pop up itself. This saves me the trouble of opening the sms manually and lon pressing it to delete.
This exact feature is there in Go SMS pro but it proves to be a battery hog more than often and I tend to delete it every time I install it.
I tried and I couldn't find any other app which gives a pop on the screen and has the option to delete in embedded.
I would really appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.

This is a rare feature. Even Google Messenger don't have this.

I found evolve sms. It has the option to delete the message from status bar notification similar to gmail. Will use till I find an option in the pop up with some other app.

As adriansticoid it's really rare feature.
Evolve SMS is capable of deleting messages from popup window, but when you're in conversation, you cannot jump back to overview all messages that's really annoy me a lot.
