Got Zinio working on the Galaxy tab and downloaded the latest issue of Rolling Stone. I can read the mag in text mode but the full visual mode is showing blank screens. Anyone else having this issue?
I don't know about this particular issue, but it seems that the content being pushed to the Android Zinio client is not the same as the one available online. There is a clear disclaimer in the apps' FAQ about Zinio content currently being converted to meet the requirements of the phone app. That's why there are books and magazines missing in my Android library, compared to what I can read online or using the desktop application.

How do you get it in Text mode? I did find that double-tapping the blank screen, or using two fingers to stretch to "zoom in" will reveal the image properly. Just a little zoomed in. Still a hassle.
When you tap the screen you will see a box on the bottom of the screen with straight white lines. Click on that, it will change to text mode.
Can someone post the zinio app I seem to have messed mine up
edit got it working
Would anyone mind posting a link to a working APK please? Tried the one from here but Zinio freezes on downloading the mag. Read that there is a new version that Zinio pushed right after the Tab release but can't find it for the life of me.
Thanks in advance.

Seems that that's the one you are searching for Zinio
i get the same thing, when you zoom in...even a little it shows the magazine in its full glory...
still its useless if you cant keep swiping to see the screen and you haev to pinch to zoom in a little for the magazine to show...pretty disappointing.
I wanted to use my tab a lot for this and the Ipad one works fine...kind of a deal breaker
Same here. ! I think we all confused !! Why Zinio is not showing up on US first but in others country. I thought Zinio is biggest US online megazine. @@ !!
*BUMP*
Has anyone gotten this to work on the Tab properly? - i.e. full screen
If you have the Beta version I was having same problem. Found the full version of Readers Hub here somewhere pulled from the latest JMA firmware I believe. The problem I am having is that the region seems to be set to where ever this Hub was pulled from dont have access to all us magazines in Zinio. Works fine for Press Reader and Kobo but no go on Zinio.
Anyone know how to hcnage region on Zinio?
Here are the files I used. Still can not change region. Any ideas?

Are you able to get full screen magazine images? Even with the apk you linked to, I canonly see the image if I zoom in.
Js4tda, Thanks Man. Copied this over to the /system/app. Fixed the Zinio issues. I can now flip pages from the image view and don't have to do the zoom out thing any more.

All I did was rename the Readerhub and Zinio .apk to .bak in /system/app. Then copied over the new apk's and set permissions.
Thanks for the help. I needed to uninstall all the old versions then install the ones posted by js4tda.
Thank you so much! I've finally got all three programs of the Readers Hub working as intended!
I am on the US T-Mo Tab and just uninstalled old versions and installed the new files from this post.

I think this would be a great launcher to have on our Tabs. Tried to install and it completes in CWM but does not show up as an option. Then I moved it all into place using Root Explorer but it force closes and will not start. Here is the link to the original thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907551

Seems to be a modified version of ADW Launcher. You are able to put more icons on lower dock.
Also seems to be really laggy, will play for a bit and see how it goes, thnx for link.
Anybody know of any other tablet optimized launchers?
[EDIT] App drawer seems to be screwed, Its to narrow and changing the margin just do anything.

The OP is discussing a different lanucher but the user who posted the apk file is indeed referring to the VTL launcher.
PS. I was wrong about the app drawer, it was because I hadnt put anything in the side docks yet

Yeah, this thread is about a 3D launcher port from a tablet.

Just an update. Picked up a Viewsonic GTablet this weekend and tried the 3D launcher. Its nice but slow and needs alot of work, the project has been put on hold by the original poster and not sure if it will pick back up or not.
Yeah sorry, was late and posted wrong. This is from same company and is for tabs. Best used in landscape mode.

I just searched the forum for this but came up empty. I am constantly getting a system message saying "refesh failed". I tried uninstalling some likely apps and disabling auto update on others to no avail. I asssume something is wasting system resources and i would like to correct it. Is anyone else getting this or have an idea of what app or service I should suspect?
Thanks
Same here. No idea what causes it.
In my case it has been caused by the Asus Weather Widget

Same here. Its when, for some reason, the widget isnt able to connect to update. Lose the widget and it goes away.
Same thing here. I can't figure out what makes the widget not be able to update (it happens when I have a great wifi signal), but once it does, it's like the TF decides never to update again -- I'll get the error midday, and by dinner it still has not updated.
So wait, that would mean that its trying to update even when not being used because I'm not even using it and I get the same message. I use Beautiful Weather instead. Are you sure its not something else that's causing it?

Place the asus weather widget on your desktop, then open it and from the options put the update frequenzy on manual and delete the widget. After that I havent received any error messages anymore.
I get his message as well. Very annoying, especially when you're reading an ebook. Will remove the weather widget.

I'm guessing it is built into the rom so will have to be rooted to remove it. I'm not rooted yet but I system panel lite and don't see it active in there. Maybe if you put it back, disable all automatic behaviour, and then remove the widget the process will stop.

Hi guys,
As the title says,
Is there any way to downgrade the Jelly Bean 4.1.3 Calendar App to the ICS 4.0.3 Calendar App?
I downloaded the Calendar.apk from somewhere that somebody submitted for ICS, but cannot implement it into JB.
Trying to work out how to strip out the JB Calendar App first though, so can anybody suggest, is this possible?
If so, or if it is possible to do or cannot do this, anysuggestions or info on how to go about this is much appreciated.
ps:
I am using Galaxy Tab 2 P5100 currently running JB v4.1.3

The JB calendar is a systemapp. You can downgrade, but it isn't recommended though. Downloadig/restoring a systemapp can caus your device to crash (had it myself once, alsu due a calendar systemapp).
PS: good alternative for the calendar is Business Calendar, which is way better than any other stock calendar.

Thanks for the advice Endie, I will check it out.
My other thought was, maybe I also asked the wrong question.
Question also should have been, is there also any way to actually make the calendar the full page size.
So when I flip pages, the calendar takes up the whole page type of thing?
Would have thought it was possible at least but so far, no cigar.
Cheers again~!

I do add the Calendar Widget yes. The largest size in the widgets panel is 6x4 and in the 10.1" screen, its still way to small.

Hold the widget for 2 secs so you can move it around, put it in the upper left corner and you should be able to enlarge the widget. :good:

As my note is running 4.1.2 I need to click the pen marker to edit anything on the page.
When I do that and hold for 2 seconds as you say, I can move the calendar widget.
But dragging it to the left corner only adds it to another page.
Or just holding it will not select or re-size the widget at all, so its like not editable in 4.1.2
Any other suggestions?
Soon after I bought the fire HD6 I quickly realized that upon installing an alternative launcher, the device would not allow you to set that launcher as default. Today I figured out a way around this issue and put together a quick video showing all the steps. This tutorial should work for all Fire devices spanning from the Fire HD6 and HD7. Before going through the tutorial I suggest you get ADB set up and working on the computer for your Fire device. Enjoy!

Following this guide will make it so you cannot use the Amazon Book app. A way around this issue would be to side-load the Kindle app. But not any Kindle app, a hacked version I made with a different signature and package name. That way your device will allow the installation and will not downgrade each boot. Download the APK below to get your books working:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bx_94ujbh0qobVBJbWFyVzNzeUU/view?usp=sharing
Now you will be able to access your books.
You're awesome! Thanks! :laugh::good:

I basically just changed the package name and resigned it so that it will think it is a different app so it allows you to install it. I used apktool to decompile but had problems compiling till I removed some services from the Manifest file. I tried newer versions but could not get them to run without force closing.

I use Apex and I can not get it to rotate either.
The best solution I've found so far is the app "Ultimate Rotation Control". It will allow you to manipulate the display as you see fit and even set parameters per app.

I forgot to revert to the stock dash before the last update (yesterday) and now I don't have ADB access. It just shows the device as 'offline' so I can't get it back to the stock dash and it's stuck at the Fire loading screen. It's the same in Windows/Ubuntu. Just a notice for anyone else to undo the custom dash before proceeding with the update.

oh god, you scared the **** out of me for a second - I had gotten the update but had never used adb since then. tried just now, and ... nothing.
but! then I remembered, I had turned adb off on the HD, lol. turned it on and all is well.
I am running Nova launcher, and have the real launcher permanently blocked, along with a few other things:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58360063&postcount=5
maybe your problem is something else? (or hopefully, maybe like me, just pilot error and usb debugging was turned off.)
I don't remember turning debugging off. I wouldn't have had any reason to disable it. I just assumed it was reset by the update. Either way, I had to do a factory reset to get it working again. To be honest, the custom dash was mostly a novelty. I'm happy enough with stock. Being able to use Google apps is all I'm worried about.
No body else appears to have mention having problems making widgets on your home screen. Every time I place a new widget it, just takes me to the main setting screen and on going back home there is no new widget.
I have been assuming that this is something else that requires root, but I thought I'd better check.
Thanks for kindlehack.apkill give it a try, ps use nova beta for wallpaper
