Installed fine on mine.
Took me about 10 minutes to realize I didn't want to use it, but it installed and ran fine.
Having this exact same problem on my HOX aswell.
Might I ask what region you're trying to install from? (UK, US, etc?)
And also which region the last poser successfully installed from?
EDIT : It turns out it is only vailable in the US for now, but as a UK user like myself you can actually use the app by downloading it's .APK directly from this site : www (dot) androidpolice.com/2013/04/12/facebook-home-starts-showing-up-on-the-play-store-available-for-select-devices/
It seems to be working fine atm.
I can download and install the app, but Home says that my device is unsupported
I'm using CM 10.1, so that might be related to why it thinks I don't have a One X. Any ideas?

Thanks! It worked =)
I was trying from Mexico (My HOXL is the AT&T version, though)
Running CM 10.1 also and I would imagine thats why it isn't supported. Maybe on a sense based ROM out there it would work.
From what I've seen, it apparently does some checks (build.prop maybe) to ensure it's on an officially supported device. AOSP roms likely interfere with that.
I'm on stock rooted and can't even find it on the store. I have the new play store, so I don't know.

Epically horrible!!!!!! I'm a little surprised how its being received by some as a phenomenal launcher. The reviews in the playstore say it all, though I am glad to see Facebook embracing the Android platform. Too many steps to get to your apps, for me it seems counter productive.

@MAJORTAYLOR, yes i did, i installed the one from playstore, working sms and everything except option for chatheads was missing. so i installed a version of fb messenger with working chatheadsthat floating around XDA, i now have the chatheads option but NO sms option. LOL, I'M GOING NUTS HERE!!!
Looking at official videos, it seems like an overlay on the phone. Kind of like the HTC Facebook phone (cha cha or status, I think). Not a big fan, but if someone has a fully functional app running, can you let us know your thoughts.

I experimented with it a little yesterday and it really does take away a lot of the android feel -- No Widgets or anything its all Facebook. I do like chat-heads I think thats pretty awesome but you can get that with just Messenger so I just stuck with that. I was a little concerned about my privacy with facebook integrating my SMS as well. Call me paranoid but Facebook has been iffy about their privacy policies in the past...then again, I guess many of the web-based services I use aren't known well for protecting user privacy. In any event, I do think the launcher is smooth and is actually a cool concept, but complete removal of the widgets is what got me.

So this is best for Facebook heavy users, not android. You might just want to stick with the app. Question, can you revert on the flip? Like an on/off switch

One day to my surprise there was a new ui on my Netflix, so much better so I looked it up to find out they finally made it tablet friendly
A couple of days later I'm back to the old Netflix
I didn't change anything on my xoom since then

The point was it was from the market, no matter what I did, which version I installed I got old crappy look
A wipe and reinstall of my Tom fixed it tho
Sent from my HTC Mecha using Tapatalk
The one on the market displayed both UI's. It's an HTML5 app so they can change the way it looks without you updating the app. If you were tweaking your build.prop or pixel density it may have thrown the app off so that it displayed the old ui.
For those of you that don't make it out of the One S forums...

Runs fine on the One S! Not sure it will make me switch from Google Currents though, Currents works pretty well since the last update.

Yes, it does run fine on the S but like you prefere Google currents, since new update it runs really smooth on the S
I don't use Currents, but FlipBoard is much better than the official Facebook app, hands down. It actually loads photos, every time. The same can't be said about the FB app.
Although, I cant figure out how to customize my news sources, or types of news (Tech, Stocks, Regional etc.). Any help?

Nor the xda app to be fair.

Anyway it was supposed to release it at the end of 2011/ the beginning of 2012 but apparently they decided to delay it to q4 of this year for improvements.

Also you can install Vaja TTS engine, better voice than google tts that sounds robotic. Its a Thai TTS engine but also works perfectly with english. You could try just dont hate the accent . Im also using it coz its free.
There is a artificial intelligence called iris siri spelled backwards. It's in infant stage now but is available at play store. Hope this helps.

Android: Notification via voice and confirmation prior to read out
Hi Guys:
Can you guide me to any app that currently has the feature of 'speaking' out new notifications received (all notifications received in the notification bar of android: text messages, calls, emails, Viber/Whatsapp messages, calendar appointments, social media updates etc.).
The requirement is firstly to 'speakout' there is a new notification from xyz and then ask a confirmation to read out the actual message. Not just reading out the message directly.
This feature gives more control over the text to speech functionality and the user can make a choice of either just knowing that there is a new notification or go ahead and also hear the message part.
Appreciate suggestions.
Cheers!

Is this the official swype beta that is now working?
My official beta would not work, but a version posted elsewhere in these forums works fine...
Swype Beta worked for me
The swype beta worked for me on my MyTouch 4G (Glacier) I will see if it works on my One S today.
Official Swype beta installed just fine on my one s stock, unrooted.
Ps, we don't have Swype pre installed, that is an HTC keyboard with Swype features.

Does anyone know how to get different colored themes for the new version of swype? I realize there is modded apk's but I read a review on The Verge and it is white. I doubt a tech review site would modify it for a review.
Here's the link to the article I'm talking about, I want that version!:

I never got a message, but have now installed the official beta as well.
About 5 minutes after installing, I got a random reboot on my phone which I have hardly ever had. Hope it is not related....
Downloaded this a few days ago, working great except one problem...
Sometimes when I press the space button it close the keyboard and goes to the home screen (yes I'm sure I wasn't accidentally pressing home button ). Mainly noticed in stock messaging app, and I always get the toast notification "Swype will automatically insert a space for you".
Anyone else?

happens to me sometimes too...thought maybe the home key was a little sensitive or I have fat fingers
I have both the older swype and the one that was offered lately running on the One S.
What i find interesting is that the new Swype seems to be very different. The layout has changed, functions have been reordered, its faster, doesn't have its terrible lag anymore. Also now its offered under the company name of "Nuance" which i never saw before. It's a bit like a new keyboard.
Also, i am not sure it is as good as it used to be. I have ambivalent feelings for it at the moment.
But to answer to the main question of the thread: both versions run perfectly well on the One S and i had never had a reboot. I am on LeeDroid. I have had it on a rooted stock ROM (1.78 base) before.

You can still skin it...sort of. The problem is that unless you know their private key, you can't sign it properly. If you resign it, it will still install and function as a normal keyboard, minus the actual Swype feature. Sucks too because I've skinned it to match the stock keyboard beautifully. Oh well.
can anyone pm
Is there anyone that can PM me the link to get it? Or link to a drop box dl for the apk?

Thought I'd share a little trick I found in the HTC Rezound forum... turns out you can easily peel off the Sense-style lock screen and leave your One X with clean-looking stock ICS lock. You simply need to rename /system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk to something else, reboot, and voila, Sense doesn't skin it. I renamed it using adb shell.
It doesn't work perfectly however... I've already found a couple bugs where incoming calls don't show up on the screen (only in the status bar), and if you use something like Google Music that is supposed to add controls to the lock screen, only a black background is shown. I'm sure these functions are supposed to be handled by the Sense Lock UI which is no longer there. Maybe somebody smarter than me can figure out how to fix, or maybe this is just a useless crippled hack.

I doubt it, most of HTC's other apps are complete replacements of stock, whereas the Sense lockscreen is really just a skin sitting on top of ICS.
So it makes sense why incoming calls, texts, etc. using HTC's stock apps don't show up on the ICS lockscreen (they want to be handled by HTC's skin)....but I'm not sure why Google Music won't show controls since it isn't an HTC app. Curious!
Nice tip! Thanks for the info!
