When "if" the gingerbread update comes will you update?

Just curious to see how many people would go back to stock to update. Personally I wouldn't.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA Premium App
I will as I'm still stock. I will root if one of the following 2 conditions are met. We are told we won't get ICS through "official" channels, or I upgrade to the rumored Holiday when my upgrade hits in December. I'm confident we will get an official upgrade to gingerbread. HTC did say something earlier this year about it arriving sometime this summer. However, I'm not gonna get anxious about it until we see a leaked ROM for it.

I ran the Asian WWE, from about a month or more ago, then the telus update from last week. It's no big deal to manually mod the package to install like a normal update. When the official AT$T update comes out, you probably won't have to go back to stock, just wait a day or less and someone will have modded it to install cleanly from clockwork. If it takes more than 24 hours, then I'll certainly post one.
Note that if you do revert to stock just to get the update, you'll probably lose the ability to root your phone afterwards. See:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140104
What's going to happen is people are going to go back to stock, hate it then realize that they can no longer root.
So far anything with the build number 2.37 and up cannot be downgraded and rooted/soff. There is quite a few threads of this in the dhd forum.
Plus well get alot of posts of I'm rooted why doesn't the Ota's work again.
I'm happily running gingerbeast and wont plan on going stock again

As I recall, from the same time, ATT did reiterate what HTC said regarding the update. That it will be upgraded this summer. With HTC working to unlock the bootloader on the Evo 3D and Sensation, it is possible they would they would unlock ours as well. However, I just wouldn't count on it. For those that are rooted, I would recommend staying rooted until these [email protected] devs here on XDA finally get root on the official gingerbread update.

Yeah, unfortunately these newer phones have been shipping with locked bootloaders. Still, HTC said that the bootloaders will be unlocked and that will come via those phones first OTA updates. We, on the other hand, would have to wait till the devs obtain root on the update before nonrooted users can root and those users who went back stock to obtain the update can go back to being rooted. As we all know, our bootloader was locked to begin with. The Desire HDs haven't got their bootloader officially unlocked, and I doubt they ever will. Same goes for us, since thet Inspire and Desire HD both came out before HTC said they would unlock the bootloaders on their devices.

Why would anyone unroot just to get an update you can get right now? And if you are going to lose the option to go back to root, then definitely forget it. If it's true the bootloader will be locked it should be announced so we can make a stink with HTC again.

It's not the bootloader per se; those have always been locked. HTC just plugged the holes that allowed us to get temproot which is the first step needed to do the rest.

Technically, you can't get it now, since it hasn't been released or leaked. All the current custom gingerbread roms here are actually DHD roms. I have rooted in anticipation of a leaked US Inspire gingerbread rom. Once we get that, we should start to see some more stable roms that don't require apn and gps fixes and require far less updating. Thanks to all the great devs that will make this happen.

Ask ATT as it is there call. We may see one update but that's about it.
Once it's officially released, just wait a few days and all the major ROMs will be updated. Absolutely no reason to go back to stock.

Sim Problem

Hello all. My friend just bought a sensation from a guy and he claimed it to be unlocked and was working with at&t. when he got it home it did have an at&t sim card in it but wasn't picking up signal. My friend popped in his t-mobile sim card, nothing picking up either. It appears to be in almost brand new condition but is this a hardware problem?
Well if it don't ask for a code for att its unlocked but my be blacklisted and I know there making a new law that you can't flash a stolen phone over now
Not sure if att tmob working together already or not
Best thing call tmob tell them u buy phone ask I'd imi blacklisted if so can't use on tmob but att should work for now
If not reflash everything from from to radio sending a pm as well
Sent from my Sensation using xda premium
Well I just called T-Mobile and guess what, phone has been blacklisted for fraud.
So trying to flash stock RUU isn't gonna help any?
Nope only can use it on att if anything
I seen a diffent poster say he kept calling and got it off the list but not sure how or what he did
Sent from my Sensation using xda premium

Oh man your a savior thanks so much!! It works again!
Lol now try getting att sim to work try a new sim but like I said there going to make it blocked sooner or later if it work could be a year to three years IRS going to law!
Sent from my Sensation using xda premium
Or blow tmob up call and call and call ***** and yell ask for supervisers tell them truth be firm maybe u can like other guy
Sent from my Sensation using xda premium
Well I put the at&t sim card the guy had in it and it just says No SIM card "emergency calls only". Idk if it's just because he canceled his at&t or what.
It might not even be unlocked. I mean the guy said nothing about it being blacklisted so I'm sure he'd lie about it being unlocked. Oh well this is my brother's phone not mine, mine works great lol
You can try to unlock again

Quick question regarding root from stock 1.85

Hey everybody, coming from a Atrix, loving the phone so far. I've been doing some reading and want to confirm what I believe I'm seeing: if the OneX I bought from AT&T has 1.85 already on it, I can't root or flash any ROMS yet? All of the root/CWM stuff is just got users on earlier versions, or who are on 1.85 AFTER rooting/unlocking, is that correct? Am I stuck for now?
Thanks!
That is correct if it is for sure 1.85. I think I read somewhere they have a root, but weren't releasing it till after official release.
Someone said at&t hasn't released an update yet, check and see if you bootloader is unlocked, someone did say you may have got a returned phone.
You could also try the one click root and see what happens.

Man I really hope your right that there is an exploit in waiting! I moved to 1.85 by accident and lost root, and I keep hoping a developer gets a break!

What happens if we try the one click root? Any damage or bricking?

Sensation does not ask for unlock code

Hi all. I've been using my second-hand bought sensation for a week now. But i have one problem. I have to unlock it to actually be able to use it as a phone.
Why is this a problem? Well, i have followed a guide here on xda to unlock it and have acquired the unlock code. Thing is, the sensation does not ask for the unlock code.
The guy i got it from tried to unlock it himself using "diag" and "s65/s85" but he failed.
So my question is, how do i get it to ask for the unlock code?
Thanks

So there is no way to relock it to unlock it the right way?
Sent from my HTC Sensation
How about a complete reset back to stock?
I don't know enough about the unlocking process to know if a complete stock reset would wipe the unlock and leave the phone relocked. But hopefully by me stating the possibility you'll see 3 answers shortly from people who do know nad you can either try it or rule it out.
Never seen a similar relock I have ruu flashed every way on here if u put a att similar card in and it don't ask for code it unlocked
Now if you see x and not a signal then your blocked call tmoble and ask if it can be unblocked most likly not
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
Well, I don't see x, but I get no reception

Would changing the mainboard solve the problem? (Yes, I'm willing to go that far....)

I think i'm just suffering from bad esn.
What model is the phone and what provider are you trying to use? You might need to change the modem to do that look in the radio thread. The modem basically changes the frequency so you can use it on providers who uses a different one.
