Unofficial AOKP - ICS Milestone 6 20 Feb 2013
After a days of work I finally was able to get AOKP ICS working with some tweaks
I have made some changes to the MIlestone 6 release
AOKP
- Romcontrol has been cleanup a bit I have removed the old performance control app in favour of the newer one found in JB
- Updated some of the icons from JB (device options, rom control, performance control and themes)
- Updated nova launcher, added in CM filemanager
Personal
- Added some stuff to the kernel ( frandom module, fake vsync, rgnd) more details here
- More stuff who knows just look at my github can't remember now
Bugs
- Should be the same as Eppy's 2ndboot ics
- If you find any I will try fix what I can just hit me up with a logcat...... Tutorial here
Installation -
Coming from a JB rom
- First you need to either convert to ext3 through the bootmenu--->Tools--->File system or wipe all from the stock recovery
- Once you have done that install the zip as normal and flash gapps if needed.....
Everyone else
- Wipe all (data, cache and dalvik cache)
- Install rom zip and gapps if needed
Reboot and enjoy ^_^
Download from here https://github.com/Kayant/Roms/tags
Download V2
Download as zip then unzip the download look through the folders and you will find a file named aokp_mb526_unofficial_20130220.zip
Congrats you found the rom :cyclops:..... Happy flashing
Mirror - http://www.uncledan.it/android-files/AOKP/
Thanks to UncleDan as usual
Credit and Thanks
Ryuinfern - for his init.d frandom script
Epsylon3 for his device tree which am using as a base and also for his work on some framework stuff and also for his work on the ics kernel
Nadlabak, Quarx and Blechdose for the kernel stuff I used
AOKP for AOKP
Without these Guys this will not be possible so a big THANK YOU to them again.....
Notes
- It's a hybrid build meaning use can use either 2ndinit mode = stock kernel or 2ndboot mode = custom kernel
This all thanks to Epsylon3
You won't get the options like KSM etc as AOKP's settings and performance control don't include it but am looking at a way of porting it ..... look out in the future for an update
- Default boot is 2ndinit and can be changed to 2ndboot which will allow BL7 green users to use the their camera again if am not mistaken

More like tripling them
Wow! run´s very smooth and fast! i love all the "aokp-options"
Some more details... There's no "Go To Sleep" toggle or shortcut of any kind and the "Torch" toggle needs to start the whole camera module to make the LED shine :/
A little things i notice.
_ process rom control is consuming more battery that it should be. I meant, does this process keep in memory doing who knows? May be i ignore that must b be this way.
_ aokp wallpapers don't keep centered. I think the app could be maded for other resolution.
_ navigation bar isn't working.
And one cool thing, is possible to use an image for background of notification area!

Hey Kayant,
Great work with the JB port. Lots of things working, but i need to say a few things
1: When using a custom theme, you have to apply system theme before rebooting. If you
boot while using a custom theme, you will have no statusbar until you apply "System" theme
and reboot.
2: Bootanimation is laggy and temporarily freezes after every cycle.
3: Camera takes a while to load. Will have a black screen or a frozen picture at first, then
resolves after a few seconds.
4: Obviously, navigation bar doesn't work.
Edit: Oh and I forgot this.
5: Screenshot doesn't work; there is no option to turn it on, and it is absent from the power menu.

i even posted some , link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30147301&postcount=75
power button + vol. down for screenshot is universal for ICS and JB ROMs.
Stock clock doesn't work and neither does the installed baseband switcher. It caused a boot loop when switching to T-Mobile.
I installed V.4 switcher and it worked fine but after about a day the 3g disconnects. When I reboot to reconnect it boot loops again till I clear cache and dalvic.
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
Edit: I disabled the boot animation and re-tried the default baseband switcher and no boot loop and so far it is keeping the connection.

oh ok I'll try that for screenshot
but no one has solved the theme problem?
But there is one thing; if you apply custom theme and reboot recovery to wipe cache + dalvik, then the status bar stays until
next reboot. If you don't wipe those two things, then the problem is still there

Have no idea why it bootloops, but wouldn't it be easier to toggle "Airplane Mode" for connection restoring? :cyclops:
And what do you mean by "stock clock doesn't work", which one? I've tried both analog clock widgets and ended up using the digital one, they were all fine, and so was the clock in the status bar..!
Been trying to find some news on the JP AOKP, but no luck... Did find one more interesting ROM, though, some people comment it as better than AOKP - BAMF Paradigm

I just flashed this rom and the aroma installer is not used.
Running very smooth on my SR! :good:
Seems to be running very smoothly for me. I especially like the lack of bloat. I think this is the first ROM I've run in a long time where I didn't have to freeze/remove 8-10 apps I never use.
Odd that it doesn't come with a default music player.
The only other oddity that I've seen is "USB Connected" stays on, even after I disconnect the cable. more
Neither are, of course, deal breakers.
Nicely done and much appreciation for your work!
Issues I have with this ROM:
Developer Mode will not turn off resulting in a less than stable USB connection.
Nibbles 0.1.3 Kernel soft bricks with this ROM. Yes I know what I'm doing, and YES, it happened twice (not such a fluke, huh?). OC and AOSP should go hand and hand.
These two features alone killed it for me for this current release, but I'm sure I'll be back for more once this is fixed.
Peace.

Nibbles kernel on a 4.2.2 ROM? You sure you know what your doing? That kernel will soft brick on anything 4.2 and up. You need to be on CvD Moretz kernel for it to boot. If you read the thread you'll find all the info you need.

Edit: It appears recorded video doesn't save. Recorded a short video, went to view it in gallery, not there. Changed storage location to external, tried again, same thing. Pictures save to the gallery just fine. Anyone else?

I just checked and on 720 it wouldn't save and 1080 it saved a mess. I replaced the gallery2.apk with the one from my AOKP and cleared cache, fixed permissions in twrp and all is working good now.

Sweet, do you mind uploading just the gallery2 apk? Not a big deal if you can't, I'll just download the aokp ROM and pull it.
Thanks

Thanks, Toyes. That worked great.
Here's a link to his AOKP Gallery2.apk:

Copy to system/app, overwrite the existing one.
Reboot into recovery, clear cache, fix permissions, reboot.
Nice ROM. How can I add a data toggle to statusbar toggle? Also, can I add a CM statusbar toggle?
Re: [ROM][PORT][JB][4.2.2] -- Vanilla Rootbox -- [FEB-19] -- Per App Dpi
I have no idea how this happened our why, but after I flashed I had no pictures on my external hard drive but I did have 3 copies of ever other file on NY sdcard1...thank God for drop box syncing lol

Can we use Rogers Radio (UXUMA7) on this rom? I thought I read on some ROM's we need to stick to UCMC1, that why I ask.
So, I flashed the rom and gapp, while the apps were being downloaded the phone went into a deep sleep and would not turn back on. Had to do a battery pull to restart it.
Also, I must be blind or something but is there no performance setting section to change the I/O and Governor?
Update:
Had a few deep sleeps and pressing the power would not bring it back. Holding the power would reboot the phone to say Samsung but would not load the ROM, had to pull the battery to start it up again.
Has anyone had any problems with the camera ? I keep getting gallery stopped working tried fixing permissions tried clearing data but no bueno for me.

Battery % indicator in notification bar, choosable style

CM Superuser controls
Double-tap status bar or lockscreen slider to sleep
Notification light controls (including custom lights for individual apps)
Codec enhancements
Option not to have the screen wake on plug

Thanks for this. You are right, not a lot of features yet, but interesting. I am trying it out now on my Nexus 7. The advanced reboot menu made it worth looking at for me. I know that I can do that with an external app, but this is a bit cleaner. I will have to see if I can live without the stock launcher though. I am running Nova on the N7.

I don't see it, either. It's usually enabled in the developer options and it isn't there.
