Hello guys, i am having trouble porting roms to ot992d.
I followed the guide in mt65xx rom porting thread but it seems like roms need additional modifying because of Alcatel's /custpack partition.
Everytime i try to flash a ported rom i mess up that partition and i have to completely reflash firmware. It would be great if someone could help me

Hello Sh0m1, I've been in the same part than you and haven't found a solution... I've seen a possible solution with 3 "thanks" so, maybe it would work... I can't say if it does because I just found it with your own thread. Other possible way to work this is to consult with other ROM developers that have been working with alcatel phones, I was thinking maybe the guys from Ewra project.
I'm citing that so thanked possible solution by yuweng:
i don't think any other ROM will ever boot on Alcatel except for Stock ROM b'cos it uses a totally different partition layout & format...
Further more, /custpack partition contains app, framework, JRD_custres, modem, usr & etc which is totally different from standard MT6577...
If you are adventurous enough, delete /custpack & /mobile_info from your scatter.txt, edit it with reference to standard MT6577 scatter, download it, port CWM/ TWRP to standard MT6577 format then you can port any MT6577 ROM to it, theoretically...
If you don't understand a word i'm saying then don't do it or you will end up like them here...

In my experience, Chinese android phones are very fragile and easy to be bricked. Those recovery are tailored for popular models only. You need to learn how to port them for your device if you really wanna install them. Otherwise, I would not suggest trying anything on impulse (speaking of own experience )
The brand of the phone is Qcom huh, and the android is stock Google right? i mean there are no customisations like in Sony, Samsung or HTC.
As my fellow member said, the process is risky and you may brick your phone(just a warning).
You have to flash recovery into phone using Odin, but i am not sure the device will be compatible with Odin.
These threads may help. but make sure you know what you are doing. Proceed only if you are 100% sure of what you are doing as the risk of bricking your phone is very high.

Hi I am facing the same problem...
I have a Spice stellar Jazz [Spice MI 353] low end phone running Android 2.3.5
Its an small Indian company phone so I am unable to find rooting guide/tut to root it. I need to root it primarily to share its internal memory with SDcard.

It is a very good terminal with a very bad rom , it is not being utilized at all its power... no available roms :crying:

Hello I'm new to this forum and I'd like to ask some questions.
I have one of the most unknown phone on the market I guess, it's a Nuu Z8.
I believe there isn't a single thread about the Nuu Z8. Anyway to my point I was looking for a custom ROM (like CyanogenMod) but of course it doesn't support my phone.
Then I started to ask myself and now you guys, could it be that I can use a CyanogenMod ROM that isn't meant to be for my phone but possibly could work because it is made for the same architecture and stuff? (I found a few ROMS made for my architecture)

I believe this also means that when I brick my phone I can't install the default ROM because I don't have an custom recovery menu.

CyanogemMod as well as every ROM, Custom Recoveries and Root scripts are developed regarding each targeted device. It would be difficult (dangerous indeed) to use other devices development onto your device.
