[Q] Nothing boots! - HTC Inspire 4G

Ok, I used the Ace Root tool successfully. The hboot screen showed *unlocked*, the stock rom (GB) booted fine, has SU working perfectly, also CWM is working fine. However, all the ROMs I've tried flashing leave me stuck on the white htc screen forever. YES, I follow the OP directions to the T, this is my 4th device, and I'm familiar with flashing. Any suggestions?

[GUIDE] How to PermaRoot your Desire HD

I have just complied this Step-by-Step guide on how to root your Desire HD.
I by no means created the root, I simply used my own and others knowledge to put this guide together to help everyone.
Hopefully this is more of a beginners guide so we can ease new Android users into a bit of coding rather than relying on Apps to do the work

hey evostance
why do we have two post? i mean adwinp already wrote one?
not saying your works unapperciated lol
could they not be merged to keep it all tidy? two posts that do the exact same thing in the exact same way?
anyways back to trying CWM

There was a lot of people asking how to do it since they couldn't figure it out from adwinp's post and any advice was getting lost in the thread.
I just put my own work into a new thread so it was easy for people to find
And this method avoids terminal or adb so is a bit more beginner friendly I was going to wait for the visionary update tomorrow but now thanks to evostance's guide I have permaroot on the day it was found/exploited/invented.

Yes and No.
I don't know if VISIONary will just be able to root one Kernel Version, or if it will be able to modify the wpx.ko file depending on your Kernel Version.
awesome recap of how to permaroot!
Made a mirror of it here http://www.logarie.nl/android/Desire_HD_Root.zip
UNROOT ?
Excellent guide
Before I permanently root my DHD I want to know who would I UNROOT if needed (just in case if I want to send it off for repair)?

I got to the step where I have to run wpx from the Gscript home screen and when I do run it I do not get the function error, all I get is a blue screen with the option to close it, Any idea what this means?
Thanks.

Are we supposed to have run VISIONary before we run the scripts? The guide PDF doesn't say to run it until after, but the original forum topic says run it before... because I'm getting that blue screen that does nothing.
Edit: Okay I got it, maybe prefix the part about running the Gscrips with "Open VISIONary, tick "Run on Boot" and then click "Root Now!" before you continue to running the GScript actions.
You need sudo access before running GScripts.
I have longed for this day for 8 days now
Thank you so much.
Does this mean we can now push/pull to /system/app?
worked like a charm
many thanks to all involved

Clockworkmod won't load..

I installed the clockworkmod touch 5.8.4.0 on my rooted and unlocked 1.85 One X, and whenever I boot into recovery it shows the loading screen then boots back into my OS. Even if I use rom manager I can't install the custom rom. Trying to install the cyanogenmod but can't do nothing. Any help? Tried posting in the other subforum they told me to come here so I'm not double posting! Tried fastboot erase cache
I don't think CWM Touch works on this phone. Try flashing the CWM that is in the Development subforum, or TWRP.
Will try, thanks!
Got the 5.8.3.1 to work, thanks again!

I'm trying to install a custom rom but when I get into installing it, it says formatting cache then stays there and at the bottom says next, if I click it, it says it has been installed when really it hasn't. Trying to install the jdroid exodized. any help?

I have tried a lot of tutorials, but none work.
I have managed to instal SU but it seems that is not working, because i have no root access. :silly:
I own a AT&T version, with 1.85
Did u install superuser and busybox installer after you followed the rooting tutorial?

[Q] Black Screen after new rom on safestrap

I just rooted my xt926 using the new root method (bootloader is still locked) and used safestrap to install a new rom. Followed directions (as far as I can tell) and installed rom successfully. But when I reboot and choose continue on the safestrap boot screen it goes black and freezes there. Only way I can get out is to hard reset. Anyone know if I'm doing anything wrong specifically?

Specifically? You're probably installing a ROM that is not compatible with SS.

Hey guys. I had flashed gpe edition on my XT1032 to get lollipop and everythign was fine. Yesterday I decided to get back to stock in order to wait for 5.1 but since then i have messed up everything in my phone. The point in wich i am now is that the phone wont boot and will be stuck in bootloader warning screen and when in fastboot adb wont recognize my phone which means i can do nothing to flash a new rom or anything. Guys please help i really am desperate and i have tried everything.

If it says AP Fastboot Flash Mode at the very top, you need to work with fastboot tool, not adb. They're not the same.

The lines are due to the fact that you have a lollipop bootloader with a Kit Kat ROM. Upgrade to stock 5.02 or the latest CM12 and the lines will go away, except possibly in custom recovery. No lines if running stock recovery.

If you're running Kit Kat, it will stop if you lock and unlock the phone using the power button. If you restart the phone or your boot into recovery, the lines will reappear until your lock and re-lock again.
