[Q] Issue with I4g. HTCDev unlocked but now some rom will not boot and others no wifi - HTC Inspire 4G

I am having trouble trying to return my brothers I4G back to stock after it was HTCDev unlocked. Currently it has a rom on it that is able to boot however the wifi setting keeps saying error. I tried to install another rom (specifically sabsa prime) however that would not boot past the white splash screen. since then ive been trying to get back to stock using every method I could find but to no avail. I tried to downgrade my hboot because i read that as the solution but even then I am unable to do anything. The Bootloader info is as follows

Please help me. I really need to either get this phone back to stock or at least get the wifi working.

When you flash a ROM you need to also fastboot flash a boot.img. read my signature for details.

Yes I have tried this. On every build of the Sabsa Prime Rom I am unable to find the boot.img. The other rom I tried managed to boot without the need of flashing the boot.img

Try another ROM?

If Sabsa is a multi device rom you will find it under the kernel / Ace folder. It is not possible to boot a custom rom with an unlock bootloader without flashing the boot.img as HTCDEV does not support the boot flashing by a custom recovery.

I tried another Rom and it worked without problems. For some reason the other 4 or 5 roms I tried did not work at all. Its not my first choice bit the current Rom I'm on seems pretty good. Thanks

[Q] Other possibility to flash my phone to stock ROM?? RUU doesn't work

Hi.
I bought my Sensation few days ago. Updated it to 1.45.401.2, got bored with stock Rom. So I decided to unlock bootloader to use CustomeRoms
I removed SIMCard from Sensation (I needed it in my old phone) and used official bootloader unlocker tool from this site http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader and everything went ok. After unlocking I rebooted my phone to bootloader and saw this:

Good so far.
Installed Recovery 5.0.2.0 (official tool doesn't include this) - no problem.
Downloaded ROM SlimSense, made full wipe (cache, data system, dalvik etc) installed it per Recovery (succesfully), rebooted and.... the problems started.
After rebooting bootloop started. Full wipe, reinstalation (succesful again), reboot and the same - bootloop.I thought that instalation .zip file maybe was broken - let's try different. Downloaded virtuous_sensation-s-pyramid-v3.0.0-beta ROM, full wiped, installed (succesfully), reboot and... the same - bootloop.
I started suspecting something is wrong so decided to cure my phone by flashing stockROM. Downloaded RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.45.401.2_Radio_10.56.9035 .00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_208857_signed from XDA, full wiped with recovery, and tried to flash it -RUU founds my phone, reboot it to start instalation (black screen with white htc- missing percentage info) and try to send files to phone for 15-20 sec - then RUU show message that it cannot update my phone. When I unplug phone from usb, phone goes back to bootloader and show:

RUU
Security fail!
Update fail!
After this "try" i still have fully working Recovery. I tried also 1.35 and 1.73 stock ROMs - the same fail
I tried to unlock super cid 11111111 but it didn'twork - some SMART_IO.CRD file is missing.
Then i tried to use revolutionary way of unlocking, but without system on the phone it doesn't recognize it. And i can't have system cause RUU doesn't work.
Then I remembered that my SIM card is out of phone.
So I put it back but it didn't change anything: full wipe, instalation of SlimSense, reboot and... bootloop again, the same with virtuos.
The same fail with RUU! , the same supercid and revolutionary failure.
So here comes my question:
Is there any other posibility to flash stock ROM? PG58img somehow?
Pls - DON'T TELL me that i should use revolutionary first - i know it now.
Tell me how to solve this problem.

PG58img ??? yes, you can try this : http://goo-inside.me/ruu/pyramid/fu...00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_208857_signed.zip
after download, rename to PG58IMG.zip and move to root of your sd-card, enter to bootloader -> flash this...
i could be wrong (not an expert) but maybe its failing because your phone still says its S-ON

As far as I know Official bootloader unlocker gives only "UNLOCKED" and it's enough to flash custom ROMs.
@ ranggazay
I extracted rom.zip from StockROM 1.45 renamed it to PG58IMG.zip and tried to flash but still nothing. Also tried the same earliers StockRoms (1.35, 1.27 etc).
Unfortunately I can't use your file cause i gave my phone to service.
Any solution?
Hello,
did you find a solution to the problem? I experienced this today and thinking about a repair unless I find something here. Did you get any solution? Thank you.
Try flashing the RUU again whist the phone is on FASTBOOT-USB

S on will not allow you to flash radios. Unlocked bootloader through HTC does not give you s off which is a requirement to flash custom ROMS.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G XE with Beats Audio using xda premium
Htc dev method unlock only few parts of the bootloader.
It doesn't unlock the radio area, it doesn't give you advanced fastboot write command access (that's why you can't change your cid) and I think that the boot.img partition (where there is the kernel) is not flashable from recovery.
You unlocked your bootloader on a 2.3.4 rom (with a 2.3.4 kernel, sense 3.0) and you tried to flash two 2.3.5 roms.
Without the possibility to flash a new kernel your phone was trying to boot with a 2.3.4 stock kernel + a rom that was meant for 2.3.5. This could be the cause of your bootloops.
I would try to install a 2.3.4 rom, like android revolution HD 3.x.x, you could have problems with wifi but it should boot at least.
First of all get S-off then supercid ur phone. You need to have s off to install any custom Rom properly. Ones you do that hopefully solve problem. Try not to messing around u might brick ur phone. You already void ur warranty by unlocking bootloader.

Same problem but with different unit--- I have a HTC ChaCha.
Any solutions please? I would love to get S-OFF on my ChaCha but I know that is only possible via an XTC Clip.
Why would he have problems with WiFi? I think my stock ROM got broken or one of the stock ROM's kernels got messed up when I installed BusyBox because for some odd reason when I restored to factory settings with stock ROM the WiFi had problems connecting. It couldn't connect to anything at all.
I had same problem and this is how I solved it
Ok here is answer to solve you
Flash any 2.3.5 Rom and open that zip in computer and extract the boot.IMF file and place it to the web folder in c drive and and flash it immediately after installing Rom
Go to bootloader and make sure fastboot USB connected and then flash the boot.IMG file from cmd prompt

With s-on and **unlocked** via htc.dev, you can't flash radio.img or boot.img, nor can you write using fastboot (eg. superCID). RUU will not run with s-on.
You will need to revert and downgrade via this guide, you can then either continue with custom flashing or run the ruu correct for your original software/baseband/carrier/location.

ok here is solution
just after u unlocked your bootloader u have to keep stock rom.....means official 2.3.4 and then u need to flash android revolution rom "3.6.x"
then after that rom boots...........just open the revolutionary.exe and try to root it and i am sure u will get s-off
this is what i did to get out of this problem.......after this super cid your phone and u will be able to flash any ruu.....
if u think this helped press thanks button

Flashing a custom ROM does not give you s off. Which part of you can't flash radios and kernels with s on do you not get?. You cannot flash Android Revolution ROM with s on. Read the OP of the thread, requires s off.

You're wrong. You can flash ARHD with s-on. The only requisite is to flash the kernel (boot.img) by "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and voila. You need to have the unlocked bootloader with htcdev too.
My Sensation came with HBOOT 1.21, so no revolutionary at all. I unlocked by htcdev, installed 4ext recovery and ARHD 4.1.3 this way.

i read that HBOOT 1.21 can be S-OFFed " reported done by a member " in [S-OFF] Juopunutbear S-OFF or [Finally Here!] HTC Unbricking Project threads , i don't remember if the device on GB or ICS
i think it is Juopunutbear S-OFF search inside it [S-OFF] Juopunutbear S-OFF , it is done using the wire trick , link http://unlimited.io/
the only comment i have , is to verify the S-OFF type , is it like hardware S-OFF " i.e can't be S-ON again for warranty reasons ? " or it Software S-OFF

Just reflash your unlock code from HTC dev install twrp then flash away

Don't panic, this should be an easy fix.
Once you relock, you have to run a ruu or unlock again. But you're trying to run a ruu for older firmware, which is why it's failing.
Just push the unlock token again, and you should be able to boot to recovery. If not, push the recovery image again. I don't recommend CWM, even though it's been ported to this phone. That version of TWRP should work, just confirm that you've got the Evita version.
OK i have unlocked again and re pushed recovery TWRP 2.4.1.0

did you verify you are unlocked now, or did you just assume since you pushed the token again?
Also, are you certain you're using the right version of TWRP and not one for another phone (like the endeavour/Tegra One X)?
I pushed the same token and rebooted the device at the top its now says unlocked

Here is my accomplishments so far:
- Unlocked with HTC Dec, therefore it says unlocked as mentioned above
- Installed TWRP v2.5.0.0, and can successfully boot into recovery
Yet to be done and do not know how to:
- S-OFF
- Super CID
- Permanent Root
Problems installing ROM:
- unable to install. Various errors with different roms, such as:
1) unable to mount sdcard
2) assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device")
3) error executing updater binary in zip
Please advise. Thank you for your time.
Note: the device is locked to Rogers. It is currently in bootloop. I do not know what I did but before installing TWRP, the device went in bootloop after unlocking bootloader and it would simply not start. Although, as mentioned I can successfully boot into the recovery and mount the sdcard from there to transfer files to the phone.

Why are you relocked?
Unlock again and update TWRP, then try to flash a ROM again. What ROM(s) are you trying to flash.
Be aware that since you are s-off, you will need to extract boot.img from the ROM you are trying to flash, and manually flash with fastboot. You will need to do this every time you flash a ROM, unless you get s-off.
Also, I don't know why you posted to this old thread. Aside from the OP also having the Rogers version, it has nothing to do with your issue. Should have started your own thread.
I'll just clarify that when Redpoint said you need to update TWRP you should update it to TWRP 2.6, your current version (2.5) is very buggy. Also, he means since you are s-on you need to flash the boot.img, when you get s-off this will no longer be required.

[Q] Stupid mistake - now stuck in boot loop

I'm not sure what I did wrong but I'm sure it's my fault.
Here goes.
I had an HTC One S (that I rooted using Hassoon's tool ver. 3.3.1). I go rid of it.
Now I got another one for my cousin. We decided to root it and flash a custom ROM.
I followed the steps in the tool up to where you flash your own recovery (which I did; TeamWin latest version from site).
While the phone rebooted we went and got CM10 (the monthly) and GAPPS.
The phone then started up but for some reason a warning came up saying we didn't have root and we had to finish installing SuperUser. We did. The phone rebooted. We put the new ROM and GAPPS in the internal storage.
Rebooted to recovery. Wiped everything except the internal memory (we did not back up) and installed the new rom. Now the phone is stuck on the HTC splash screen.
I tried following another thread here and fear I may have made things worse for myself. I downloaded the latest tool from Hassoon and ran the command "fastboot oem lock" in an attempt to maybe return back to a stock rom or something where we can UN-brick this phone.
Anyway I'm in over my head.. please help.
Here's the info.

You needed to flash the kernel for the new rom you installed.

Forgive me for being "slow" but..
Doesn't CyanogenMod 10.1 come with it's own Kernel?
If not then I may need a link directly to a kernel that I can download and then flash (I looked on the cyanogenmod website and the only thing I could find was how to build the Kernel in Linux).

S-ON devices with HBOOT version of 1.13 or higher do not allow kernels to be flashed through recovery. So even though you have flashed the ROM, the kernel will not have been flashed. You'll need to extract the boot.img from the ROM zip file manually, boot the phone into fastboot mode then use the command:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
This will flash the kernel manually.

[Q] Recently rooted Inspire 4g

Hey all. Recently used AAHK (yes, I know now) to root this phone. Bootloader reports the following:
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.85.0024
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.09.04.11_M2
.eMMC-boot
Question: In order to flash ROMS while "S-ON" I need to extract and separately flash boot.img included in ROMs after flashing ROM? If so, can boot.img be flashed from sdcard, or just via PC using adb?
Question: Can I get "S-OFF" after the fact, thus eliminating additional boot.img flashing.
This is my second Inspire/DHD. With my first, AAHK worked fine and I think I was "S-OFF" when rooted. I know I was able to flash ROMs to my hearts content (w/o ever flashing boot.img), until I bricked it (after flashing quite a few ROMS, figured procedure was same for last one I grabbed; silly me for not reading install instructions. Recovery help post for that issue forthcoming)
TIA

IF your bootloader says S-ON you can unlock it and flash a custom recovery. Then, yes you need to flash the boot.img of the rom each time you flash a rom in fastboot.
For further help use the guide on my signature...you also have an script to unlock, flash recovery and root.
Thanks for the response.
I just ran the tool that is no longer supported again and all is well.
As for the original, mucked-up unit, using adb I am able to get to bootloader, recovery and can flash, but phone never boots. Tried appropriate PD98IMG on root of SD; tried applying same file as "update.zip and tried straight custom ROM. Right now stuck at CM10's animated boot screen. Guess I have to do some more skim....uh...reading.

Both units are S-OFF.
Issue resolved with effed-up unit. I flashed latest CM nightly, then flashed boot.img from that release, and (as Kelly Bundy would say) vy-o-la, working phone.
Initially found with my previous attempts at flashing (w/o flashing boot img) that phone stayed on ROMs boot spalsh. Also, found at times that phone would boot straight into recovery, but with blank screen. Only way to tell phone was powered was by the illuminated keys (Home, Menu, etc). And with no VOL- key, only way to move and select items was by using the Menu key, with screen blanking out after each key press.
BTW, how I initially effed-up this unit was by flashing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2204384 without reading install instructions. I'd just flashed the zip same as I've been doing with previous ROMs I've tried. :silly: :

If it's S-Off, you shouldn't need to flash the boot.img.

It is s-off; was when initially rooted way back when AAHK was still active and still is. However, after multiple attempts at recovery flashing ROMs, this last time I flashed boot.img as well and it booted correctly. Note that ROMs I tried were stock, rooted stock and most recently CM7 and CM10 based.

After S-ON system won't boot to OS. Please Help!

Hi guys
I've looked everywhere for a solution. Maybe someone know another post that I might've missed.
My phone won't start, it keeps rebooting to the white HTC screen.
Right, now to the problem. Before this problem I had a custom ROM installed (Carbon 4.3) which was getting a few errors so I decided to restore it with clockworkmod from a previous backup. Now what this did is turned the device to ****Locked**** and S-ON .
So what I did next is use HTCDEV to unlock it. Well that bit worked but it's still S-ON.
Now it shows

*** UNLOCKED ***
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.29.0000

OpenADSP-v05.6.0.2226.00.0418

I can still go in to Recovery and use the 4EXT recovery Touch (v1.0.0.4 RC3) and i managed to wipe everything including the SD as I already backed it up. After I installed a custom ROM (Blitz 4.0). Everything went well, finished installing successfully. After a reboot the phone won't start to the OS. It keeps looping to the White HTC screen (without even vibrating every time it reboots). So I can install any ROM but can't boot into it.
I even re-partitioned my SD thinking that the mSD was the issue but no luck.
Any particular advice how can I fix this?
Many thanks!
Go to recovery---> tools--->enable smart flash
And flash Rom it will work
OR
flash boot from Rom by fastboot command
fastboot flash boot boot.img
For kitkat Rom update 4ext recovery to latest o think its rc 6

Hi and thanks for quick reply.
I've tried the first method (but no luck)
Although second one worked like a charm! :good: Thanks for that. Now my next question is: If I want to install another ROM will it make the same problem? If yes then how do I get the from S-ON to S-OFF? Will the Revolutionary Utility help ,me or mess it up?
Thanks again. :good:

just to know enable smartflash exactly before flashing the rom
and yes you will have to do the same if smartflash fail again
if you want to S-OFF you have to flash stock rom first
then follow this guide

Thanks rzr86. Will think about it before I'll S-OFF. I'm happy that I got it working again. Plus I don't use it anymore. It's my wife's phone now. Just wanted to flash a new ROM and pass it on to her and that poo happened. :cyclops: Now it's back to life.
( Thanks again "Itsakash")
