[Q] Installing old Play Store APK from previous ROM - Samsung Infuse 4G

I just moved up to BeanStalk from an old PA rom. Loving it so far, but one catch. I loved using Carrier Billing in the Play Store. Very convenient. Anyhow, the latest versions of the Play Store did away with this option for the Infuse. When I wanted to purchase an app, I had to uninstall all the updates to the app, and then I'd be back at the version the ROM came with, which did have carrier billing enabled, and I was good to go. Problem is, since I just flashed a new ROM, that means a newer version of the Play Store came as stock. Carrier billing is no longer enabled.
So, I'm wondering, since I still have the original zips for my old ROM around, the PA 2.52 zip and the Gapps zip from back then, I would assume I could just hunt around in there and find the APK and install that one instead. But I'm having difficulty finding the Play Store APK in either the PA zip or the Gapps. Am I looking in the right places? Is it named something unexpected? Where can I find the Play Story APK that that ROM came with?
And also, is it as easy as I'm thinking it is, just uninstall the current Play Store app and install the old APK in its place? Or does it take more than ROM Toolbox to uninstall a system app like that?
Thanks much.

Play Store broken

Hello Everyone,
First time post. I scoured through numerous posts about the Play Store unable to find one related to mine. I will give as much detail as I can. Pretty simple if you are savy with rooting.
Phone: HTC Evo 4G
ROM Installed: MazWoz-Evo-B6 (Jellybean
GoogleApps Version: gapps-JB-20121124
Have attempted other ROMS and gapps versions. Just a few. But enough to know I must be missing a step or it is just broken and no one has it running :S. I have cleared all the cache, both the Play Store app cache and in Recovery mode Cache's. I just started into this Rooting last night. Very comfortable installing different ROMS. But why is the Play Store broken on each one? I have tried installing the ROM, Booting up, shutting down and than installing Gapps. Along with installing Gapps right after the Rom install. I clear everything for fresh install of both. It is getting me no where and the internet is full of all kinds of topics related to the Play Store. But nothing that fixes this issue.
I can not get connected to the Google Play Store. Using an existing google account to log in with, it never makes it into the store. But using this step does setup the email for the phone. Maybe that will help pinpoint an idea to you guru's. I hope someone can help.
Thanks!

first thing. ensure that your rom download and gapps download are both good downloads and not corrupt. even partially corrupt files can flash unless you used md5 checksums. But since each rom is having a problem... really looks like your gapps might be the problem...
thats something to check at least...

Android's play store is oddly configured. Depending on your rom's tweaks, a variety of things can cause playstore issues including: LCD Density (via /system/build.prop), ro.product.model= (via /system/build.prop), ro.product.manufacturer= (via /system/build.prop), and lastly the Google Play Database file.
Sorry I can't remember the location of this file, but basically on our phones there is a database file, I believe an SQL DB. If you have lots of problems, you can try to close google play, erase cache/data to the app, then rename the db file to **OriginalNameOfFile**.BAK
open google play, and it should be fixed

Unistall feature not showing in the Play store after root.

Just curious, I rooted my Note 10.1 a month ago, have not installed any Roms as of yet, When I go to the the Play store, I don't get the uninstall option on any of my install apps, I only get the open feature. I can still uninstall using a 3rd party app, or the OS system, but just curious why this is
Its not normal and never happened to me .
No one has had this issue, would installing an updated version of the Play store help, even though I don't have a new Rom installed, what is the latest Play APK ??
I did install the latest version APK 6.4.13 and still have the same issue, is it something with the process of which how I rooted my device ?? Please advise, I surely can't be the only that has had this issue before ??

is it possible to install GAPPS without a custom recovery?

I have 2 devices (Xiaomi Mi TV 2S 48" and a Xiaomi Mi TV 3 60") and I am having trouble getting GAPPS to install.
I do not have access to a custom recovery and the automated methods I do find fail for me at some stage or other. The odd time I can get it installed, it won't let me access my account.
One time I was able to get it all installed, but then the play store updated and showed a "this version of the Play store is not compatible with your device. Please uninstall updates" (or something similar to that). Uninstalling updates claimed to succeed, but wouldn't actually uninstall.
Factory reset later, I'm stumped. My current plan is:
1 - download PICO GAPPS for the Android version of my device
2 - Extract it to an SD card
3 - install the APK's
4 - move the APK's via terminal emulator to make them system (for the ones that require that permission)
5 - copy the lib files over from the zip
6 - cross fingers and reboot
Now, I am thinking that this should work, but I also don't know much about how the "flash zip" stuff works so I may be opening up a world of pain for myself. Plus side if I kill the android board, I can get a replacement for a lot cheaper than a new TV.
Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section; I did not see a section for "Xiaomi other" or "Xiaomi TV".
Anybody have any experience installing GAPPS manually from a stock ROM?
EDIT: So I did figure this out. There is a tool known as "Google Installer" that will install all of the google tools (and dependancies) including google play. After installing that, you just make google play store a system app and the play store works great.
Bad news - with the latest version of the play store, it will do a check on your device if it should be using the default play store or the leanback version (guessing the check is done by the device name in your account, but I have not verified this). Google installer installs an older version of the regular play store and it will auto-update. If your device requires Leanback and you don't have the leanback version installed, your play store will fail to start indicating you should uninstall updates.

Just download the Google play apk off a trusted site (i.e xda). Then the other apps off Google play.. Unless the update wipes data.. No you do not have to reinstall.
If you do have a system wipe, just keep Google play apk on your ex SD card.
Enjoy

Thanks for you reply, much appreciated, I was wondering however do i need to also install google framework, services etc, as i a have read simply installing play store on a Chinese version is not enough and a number of google installers exist like gms core, however there seems to be a number of people complaining of compatibility problems therefor i was wondering if when my phone comes, i would have major probs installing google apps.
initially i was simply hoping to flash a official stock eu rom, however someone on this forum said that would void warranty, which i was surprised because coming from back to back Samsungs, flashing a stock ROM of another region was not a problem as it was official.
thanks
There I believe if you download those APK.. All that will be included
Like Facebook.. It's all included
You will have to install Google games or other Google related stuff individually... If something is needed Google will tell you, then just go to play and install.
My pleasure to help... Let me know if you need further assistance.
As for honors warranty policy... That's their call, I myself come from a long line of Samsung's.
Yes they are more flash friendly.
Other than that..idk
Good luck cheers

A-Gapps 8.0+ Tiny - Workaround for system partitions with less then 50mb space.

This is how I was able to install gapps on a couple of GSI images, as well as my One Plus 5 after updating to Hydrogen pie. First download the gapps.zip and play store apk from this link:
https://mega.nz/#F!70RxTICA!AqPsbzB8UPIJ-6cy5Qm0Og
The play store apk is the newest one released November 27th.
Go into twrp and flash the zip, which will install all necessary files for the play store, and an outdated apk for the play store(which may or may not work, in my case it did not), install the play store apk and open it. sign in. let it sit for a min or two. it might force close once or twice. What its doing is installing the necessary libraries in the background.
I got the idea and original from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/gapps-gapps-8-0-minimal-48mb-t3678509
and then did some modifications to it. IE removing/changing some files.
Does Google smart lock/auto sign up work?
Cheers mate made my life easier
