I´d like to buy Acer A700 for reading (beside other activities) e-books in .pdf format. I use ezPDF Reader Multimedia PDF and EBookDroid - PDF & DJVU Reader on my Android phone (HTC Desire Z). If I read .pdf file with any of the above mentioned apps, will be FULLY used Full HD display (every pixel of 1920 x 1080 resolution, 120p takes notification bar), so that I´ll be able to display more sharp text compared to lower resolution?
can't tell about the stock rom as it has been quite a while since i switched to cm10.1. i am using ezpdf too and with cm10.1 feature expanded desktop i have real fullscreen (no notification bar neither the one where home button is located). i am absolutely happy. i am no gamer but for the things i do with this gadget it was the best buy for me.

Thanks for reply. Good to hear that ezPDF takes full advantage of Full HD resolution.

Thought I'd start a thread, similar to the games one, to allow for recommendations for apps that are found to runs particularly well on the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
I'll start this off with:
Google Earth - Obviously the big screen makes it nice, but the fast GPU and super smooth touchscreen controls also help. tilting and twisting with two-fingers, panning and flying over the high resolution terrain of the Alps is simply amazing. I'd almost say, due to the intuitive touchscreen controls, it's as good or even better than the desktop version (not as many options yet though).
AndroidVNC - This works just like I almost imagined. Sitting on the balcony, then 'tap...tap' my Kubuntu desktop is displayed nicely and can be used on my tab. Awesome for checking up on progress bars of running stuff.
WinAmp is cool on the Tab. Gives You big enough room to select and scroll through directories (compared the N1)
Speed Hud uses the FULL SCREEN, can't wait to try it in my car at night !
EStrong File explorer also uses full screen and is excellent to use on this device.
Wifi Analyzer on the Tab lookes like a professianl Wifi tool !
XBMC remote is alos great on this device. Only problem I have is when Yo rotate it during browsing folders it looses info and You have to go backwards one step to see anything again.
TuneIN radio also works great. I have it running in the background most of the time
Skype is also a dream on the Tab. Gives good room for the big communications...
Photoshop express on a screen like this rocks !
MSN DroidX also works really good
IM+ does not work well. It does 2/3 size in the center
Meridian player works really well too.(pro edition) Plays MKVfiles and everything I have tried smooth. Flac and mp3's are no problems at all.
I just discovered TV Flash. Works really well on Tab, good quality and nice selection of news channels. Some entertainment tv as well! Get it while its in beta!
I'll add another one:
GMote is awesome. Using the entire screen as a touchpad to control the mouse on my XBMC box. You can also switch to remote or keyboard mode, and even stream files from the computer to the Tab. Very nice.
Fennec official beta works a treat. Finally we have firefox!

Where did you get the apk???
Can you share please? The ones I am downloading from the mozilla ftp aren't working
They just force close...
EDIT: Nevermind I found it... It's not one of the nightly builds but the publicly released beta.
Indeed. By the way, gmote doesn't work in fullscreen. Only the pad works, and not too well at that...

What exactly are you having trouble with? It automatically goes fullscreen for me (cover art of streaming music, the remote buttons and the file browser).
As for the touchpad, I did increase the mouse acceleration a bit beforehand, because I was using the touchpad from the Logitech DiNovo Mini before. Maybe that makes the difference.
The browser isn fullscreen for me. Cant remember now as ive uninstalled it. Ive got PocketCloud so its not really an issue.
Anyone tried GRemote? It's a prettier version of GMote, albeit commercial. http://gbmsoftware.com/
Will need to try Fennec, a link to a recent working .apk would be useful.

The server is, yes, but the client isn't.
They did say several months ago that they were working on a OS X server, but no further word of it, my guess is that it's not going to happen.
I'm searching for a good Newsreader App, where i have my Feed Abonnements on the left and the articles an the right, like you get it on your desktop browser when visiting google reader website.
Just search for fennec for android... can't be easier than that.
Really Skype... are there video calls? If not then where do I get video to pccalls from?
I got to say that one of my most essential needs on a device like this is comic book reading.
So I got to say I was quite pleased with the app Comic Reader Mobi.
The reader takes advantage of the full screen.

That's strange. In my case I just chose a root folder source for my comic collection that is located on my external sd card and away it went.
Perhaps you should get in touch with the developer through the comic reader mobi forum. The person seems to be quite hands on when it comes to helping users.
Could someone try and see if this app works on their Tab, I downloaded it and used it on my HTC Desire last night and it is so damn amazing!! Live streaming of games in pretty high quality straight to my phone
Would be awesome if it scaled and worked on the Tab too.

-- Plume, while awesome on my smaller galaxy tab, is SWEET on the TF, landscape allows for columns like tweetdeck. I think its unsung as twitter apps go, but its awesome on wide tablets. It may not be your finally twitter app choice but it has some real utility that I just love.

-- Reader HD (I still want GReader Pro for Honeycomb but I may learn to accept Reader HD instead, it're pretty great.)
-- Tablet Keyboard - I never considered this until seeing *cough* Steve Jobs go on about IOS5 having it the "Split" thumb-friendly keyboard. Knowing the Android community usually has the best solutions first, I hit the Market. "YEH BOIIIIII, WE HAD THAT FIRST."

Does anybody knows how to put ebook into your sensation? On SD card? And where? Any tips how?
dont forget the thanks button if you read it,

You can use Google Books, Amazon Kindle or Barnes & Noble Nook app.
They have free ebooks and you can buy books.
As for putting your own "ebook" on your phone.... need more information, what format are they in? You need to download a reader, and pretty much put it anywhere on your card.

or you can try Aldiko in the market. it allows you to import epub pdf and other formats
the built in eReader does a good job. Just put your .epub books in a folder name it eBooks or any name you want and the sensation will automatically import it. I have not tried other formats though but .epub works great!
I like de reader on it very much, had to sign in at kobe but that was no problem. Witch kind of extensions does the reader supports? Thanks for the quite reply. Regards from the netherlands

I love the reader app as well. Very nice transition between pages, as when flipping in a regular book . The format as mentioned a few posts up is .epub and you can create either a folder Ebooks or Digital Editions, drop them there and off you go reading .
Does it support cbr books?
sent with unbranded htc sensation
After installing CM7 I had to find a new app for my ebooks and stumbled upon Aldiko Book Reader. It's very similar to the HTC reader but with a bit more functions though it lacks the page turn animations (no real loss IMO). It also turns off the light for the capacitive buttons when you lower the brightness of the screen to a certain point which is nice when reading at night.
Any one else notice that the native ebook reader app and book shelf widget is now missing or has been removed since the last update on Tmobile USA?

I love it to open books on the sensation. I now have a comic reader on it. It support .cbr . Is there a reader that convert cbr to epub? Because i like the turning page thing more then scrolling up and down. Or is the epub not for picture?
Hope anybody knows some convert program for cbr to epub

Anyone know if there's a way to view HD quality YouTube videos on the Kindle from within the app? I tried a few HD YouTube.apk apps I saw for various phones but they all force closed right away. The standard app is noticeably lower quality than what the Nook Tablet or Galaxy Tab 7.0+ displays. Basically HQ vs HD.
Seems like setting Dolphin HD to 'iPad' mode and then browsing directly to youtube.com might get HD quality, but it's not as nice to navigate, and forces you to use 'iPad' mode all the time which is not ideal if you use Dolphin for other browsing. Better than nothing though.
I've just used the Dolphin method. There doesn't seem to be another way short of running Honeycomb.
I didn't know you could do this, thanx

Still waiting for my 10.1 but you it often on my Note phone. It processes the images to be very useful PDFs. Think there is a trial version in the market.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I have Camscanner Full version on my GS II and III and old Note and now on my 10.1,.
On all devices it works perfectly for me but: now I use it preferably on the 10.1 because the screen is bigger and gives an immediate impression if the photoshot was precise and writing is clear and how paperdistortion of scanned doc influences the overall quality. Methinks the app is faster on 10.1 and resulting docs more sharp maybe due to the lesser res. of the cam.
Anyway CamScanner is much better than my prior portable bar scanners and I use it 5-10 times per day .
Makes my life more and more paperless.
Also Cardscanner is very good for scanning bizcards, before I always lost the cards now I scan them immediately and have them secured.:good:
Keep in mind that there's also a Camscanner HD for tablets.
I went through a period where I downloaded and tested Camscanner, Camscanner HD, Handy Scanner, MDScan and Document Scanner.
The ones that stood out were:
- Handy Scanner for creating the smallest size PDF's and also supporting export to JPG format, had force close with opening documents from search
- Camscanner HD exported PDF was larger than Camscanner but Handy Scanner was even smaller and only half the size of this
Its the best app in the market .. But i wonder why the image quality on S1 (i9003) used to be better than S2
On both devices i use stock ROM, one GB and the other ICS
