Hey Guys,
HTC has recently updated their Stock Rom for our Explorer (Pico)
The new updated Software Number is 1.43.720.2 & it has quiet few new features!!
However I tried searching hard on the net but couldn't find its RUU
the latest RUU version that is available is 1.31.720.3
Also there are No Updates Available as of now for all the users who are on stock rom Software number 1.31.720.3
So I have copied all the system files of the 1.43.1720.2 and put in a Zip
THIS IS NOT A FLASHABLE ZIP
Download the zip & extract it
You will have the entire system folder of the new version!
I will soon try to upload the new Kernel & other files that I find
Mods plz feel free to move the thread if you think it's in wrong section!

How can you copy system apps to SD without rooting??
And did you put the fonts folder in /system... because, when I first bought this mobile, I updated immediately and I got fonts folder in /data/fonts and it was symlinked in /system/fonts.. so, there could be a size issue...

Could you please teach me about 007a theme.zip-for future use- why is not "framework directory" set under "system directory"? and why is only "service.jar" manually copied?
Anyway grateful to your work and clicked "thanks".

The .zip theme is a way, using the recovery menu, to apply themes with ease...I don't know exactly how it works...
About the framewor directory not being set under system directory I didn't understand, could you please rephrase it??
and finally the service.jar is a file that is there only to change the color on the date on the status bar... and it's the only file that needs to be manually copied because I couldn't create a .zip file that included it....
Hope you like it and thanks for the thanks
Thank you for reply and sorry for poor sentence.
I only hope to understand why default directory structure is not maintained within 007a_theme.zip,
whereas "/system/framework/framework-res.apk"
I have no other purpose,this is simple interest.
I'm not quite sure I understood you but I think you mean inside the. zip file?? If so, the zip file is not a complete image, it's just a theme file that updates the current ROM, but within the system the structure remains the same...

Yes, this is the CarDock.apk provided in the AOSP ROM in the apps folder, you just have to install it through adb....

Which metod have you used??
Either way my first suggestion is to get to the recovery menu and restore your backup and try again...
I've tested it in other xperia I have and it works perfectly... remembering that this will only work in J's AOSP 2.1 007a ROM
A quick question if i may before i begin and id like to try it using the unzip to xrecovery menu then restore method.
Im guessing the location for unzipping is inside sdcard/xrecovery/backup/ (which ever date time etc not just making a new folder under sdcard/xrecovery/backup then unzip here?
I hope you understand what i mean
Thanks for your time and effort for the theme btw!

All you need to do is unzip the folder (/2.1 007a AOSP RMR) on the zip file to sdcard/xrecovery/backup/ there's no need for dates or anything else, just unzip the folder and restore....
Remember to make a backup of your own before proceding....
Good luck, hope you like it and I'll be happy to help in anything else you need...
Sorry im not quite sure if you understood or i might being a little slow as its 3am uk time.
So its just into the backup folder not the one where the back up is made with.

Yep, in the end your folder structure needs to be /sdcard/xrecovery/backup/2.1 007a AOSP RMR
inside this folder you have the cache.img, data.img, nandroid.md5 and system.img
and no worries about the confusion, it's 1 am here in Brazil, I'm not at my sharpest either....
i'm using the xrecory method, which mentioned to update to custom zip ..
anyway, if i'm restored from your image, will all of my previously apps gone ?
if i've been already done app2sd, will it crash with your apps ?
thanks ...
*update :
I'm trying to use your first method by extracting your file to xrecovery/backup ..
but, when i'm trying to restore it, the xrecovery says that md5 mismatch
=(
I am happy to tell you that i am able to view hindi font successfully and i want to share it.
Just download and extract file, then copy extracted .ttf file into /system/fonts folder using root explorer
restart and you are done.

yes i think procedure should be same for copying but ttf file should be compatible.
What ever you do just make backup first..
Why the way this ttf also include Marathi language.

Misleading information here:
There is no /system/font directory. It should be /system/fonts.
So copying file to this location or CWM zip has no effect.
even if you copy this file in /system/fonts, it has no clear hindi fonts, matras are all wrong. Obviously the original file has 4+ MB size and its just few KBs.
INDIA GB has one more font i.e. DroidIndia.ttf. This could be reason for accurate hind font display.

The zip is wrong. It should be fonts. Here is the correct zip.
Hindi_Font_Cwm.zip
But the rendering is from this font and i can assure u of that.
I am on XXKPQ and had manually copied to fonts folder.
I have attached images one using the font and one without it.
And finally, there is nothing to be too critical about.

ok, but this is not as accurate as coming from INDIA GB. Matras are still not correct you can see yourself in your screen shots. Also check my attached SMS screenshot from India GB, its shown perfect but same SMS you can't read using your font.
Try, you will get proof. That's why INDIA GB is Indian GB
I already know this issue.
So someone want to share hindi gb fonts here means all /system/fonts files here
Then I will test it. I already asked this indian gb thread but nobody take interest at that time.

I have seen lot of people looking for working 15 toggle mod and transparent/modded status bar
and notification pulldown for stock 4.0.4 roms. here is small guide-
Note- Changing systemui.apk should not be a big issue and you can always replace it with stock (keep backup), make sure to delete systemui.odex file but do not replace framework-res.apk manually (it may cause issues)
Make sure to choose correct theme version for your ROM.
Download any theme for 4.0.4 and extracted it, there should be 2 sub-folders in "system" folder, (app and framework), now follow these steps,
1. Go to "app" folder and copy both quick panel.apk and systemui.apk, paste these two .apks in system/app using root explorer (replace if prompted), fix permission and delete systemui.odex file (better to backup).
2. Go to extracted folder again and check "framework folder, it should have 2 files again, dont do anything with framework-res.apk. copy other file (lidroid-res.apk in my case) and paste in system/framwork folder using root explorer, fix permission and reboot.
I have tried flashing whole theme .zip after deleting systemui.odex file but it never worked, same issue reported by few other members, seems like replacing framework-res.apk is creating prob on stock roms, but above method replacing files manually is working fine.
If above method does not works then look HERE (post #18 onwards) for more info.
**I have not created any of these files and the credit goes to respective developers/themers.
You can share more.
***I know it should be already available somewhere, I have just tried to compile, so that users can easily access it.

Yes, I have tried one theme zip on stock 4.0.3 and it worked fine, its by Ashish (look for it in themes sec), just delete systemui.odex file (after backup) and flash theme zip via cwm.
To be on safer side you can also follow manual method, just download theme for any 4.0.3 rom, extract and follow instructioms above.

I am using blue theme from Kingdroid rom and not sure if can share that (already sent PM to PETKING for approval), but this theme is almost similar to mine, you can download appropriate version of theme and extract. and then follow OP. It includes more than systemui.apk I think, so be careful what you replace

Do you mean the mod in post #13 link? I don't think N7000 themes will work with I717. But you can always try as changing systemui.apk manually (using root explorer) doesn't harms and you can always return to original safely (with few FCs though).
But do it on your own risk and only if you are sure about the procedure. (make sure to copy original files to SD before replacing them)
Note- Do not flash any N7000 theme to I717 using cwmr. And try systemui.apk only, nothing else like phone, framework-res.apk etc.
Hello everyone..
In my tutorial here, I want to show newbies how to create their own flashable zip file to flash by recovery mode (CWM)...
Now installing your mods become easier and faster
Needed tools for newbies:
1) Download this zip template that I made particularly to devices kernels that support auto-permissions fix feature like our GT-N7000:
Template-for-auto-perm-fix-kernel_v1.1.zip
2) WinRAR or 7-zip program installed in your computer.
3) zip-auto-signer_v1.1 patch in case your kernel needs it (windows users).
4) Cup of hot tea!!!
How is it working?
Open the template zip file by WinRAR or 7-zip (don't extract!! Just open)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now what you need to do is just to drag & drop your modded file into its corresponding destination inside the zip file.
Copy your finished zip file to your external SD card.
Boot into recovery mode and flash your file... Now you can treat yourself the cup of tea.. you deserve it
Extra step:
If you are using stock kernel that needs verification signature from flashable zip file, then you need to use zip-auto-signer to sign your finished zip file.
First copy your finished zip file from previous step and open "zip-auto-signer" folder (download from above).
Run the zip-auto-signer.bat to create all needed folders.
Now paste your zip file in "put-zip-to-sign-here" folder.
Rename it to any name but don't leave any space between letters.!! and run the script zip-auto-signer.bat.
Now go to "finish" folder and copy "signed_*.zip" into your external SD card.
Boot into recovery mode and flash your signed file
Simple and noob proof tutorial, I hope it will help you all new xda members
N.B: In case anyone needs a template that is coded to fix permissions automatically as well, I have created this template [Template-for-non-auto-perm-fix-kernel_v1.1.zip] so you can use it as your base.. But using this template on kernel that supports auto-permissions fix like Philz kernel will only make flashing time unnecessarily long!!

yes just by simple drag and drop method into the template zip file... just put your app in preload or system corresponding app folder and that's it, go and flash it :good:
For any problem using the template, I will be glad to help you all..
majdinj,
you are one of the god fathers of n7000 fourm

If i want to put some app into preload folder can i do it using root explorer..?

Yes you can but it will not be enough for app to work, you need to fix permissions and to create symlink of that app in system app folder..
why not to try the template above, it will do all the job for you

I tried the above template... Extracted it using root explorer copied app to preload.... created a zip and it only created symlink in app folder Didnt copy the app to preload....
Is it necessary to use computer and do it without extracting the zip files..

How come it creates symlink from no apk in preload partition!!!!??
As I mentioned, don't extract the template, only drag and drop your apk into preload\symlink\system\app folder whether using computer or phone to do that and then flash

There seems to be a bit of confusion on how to get boot animations to work on our devices, S4 guys had this same issue.
Go HERE for other bootanimations. You must extract the files from their downloadable zips and either use method 1 or 2 to install. If using method 1, replace the files in the /system/media/ folder of the flashable zip.
Android L - Method 1 (requires SafeStrap):
1. DOWNLOAD this ZIP
2. Flash in Safestrap
3. Reboot
Method 2 (requires only root)
1. DOWNLOAD this ZIP file and extract the files from it.
2. Place files on internal storage or SDcard
3. Use a root explorer or root file manager app to navigate to /system/media/
I use File Manager because it will easily complete step 64. I would recommend renaming the current files by putting an OLD in front of them, such as (OLDbootsamsung.qmg). (Optional)
5. Once you are done with step 4, place the files into /system/media/
6. Here's the important part: You must be in root mode and change the permissions of each of the 3 files.
7. Once you are able to change permissions, make sure all files permissions look like this below or it will not work and things can screw up.

Now REBOOT and please enjoy. Leave Thanks or if things don't work out please leave feedback.

A little thanks to @Misterxtc as well
Worked great. Thanks!
Use this as a template and download others from here and give thanks to the OP for the files. I have included the Android L animation from above in this file. Just replace the .qmq files in the system/media folder for something different, also include the PowerOn.ogg in the system/media/audio/ui folder if it's included in the animation for the start up sound.

No problem but I just updated the zip because I had the poweron.ogg in the wrong directory. You will have to update your link.
EDIT: FYI the zip file sets permissions too.

That's fine. I updated my quote so that will be accurate but I actually want the L Bootanim to be sound-free. But I will add an option in the OP to download a with-sound version.
Edit, I don't see poweron.ogg anywhere in your zip...?

There is no sound in the zip, just a option to put the file in there.

Alliance uses a different boot animation that uses a zip file. The ones posted here are the type you need. You will be replacing the bootanimation.zip in the system/media folder with these type of files. They will have to be renamed to bootanimation.zip for them to work. Just to be safe rename your original instead of deleting it.

No they are a different format all together. Compare your bootanimation.zip with those and you will see. There are others than I posted, all you have to do is search for them and make sure they are the same format as your original.
