to start off, I have an extended battery pack on my phone. I only get 6 hr's battery life... :s
I heard wiping your phone completely to factory will increase life as well as discharge cycles? I have the app battery saver installed but it doesn't do much for me

Need to know:

OC App
Min/Max CPU Freq you set stock is 216/1015.

I use battery calibration app from the market to wipe my battery stats after I fully charge my phone but when I change batteries it never shows full charge even though it is. Any suggestions?
I'm using PB 1.6 with T15 kernel
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Wiping battery stats does nothing useful. More then likely the problem is from using generic batteries. I know when I switch to my Hyperion batteries. Try plugging in your phone or toggling airplane mode on and off.

Battery stats works for me when I switch roms... You don't want to wipe battery stats every time!
I don't know about you, but do you really need that extra 1~2% battery for a full 100%???
I have eb with faux kernel and usually I get it to 99 and in some cases 100%. Even at 100% I'm at 4175 mv or so when it should be at 4200mv.
Point is, your not going to miss that extra ~25mv out so of juice.
Check your voltage and let us know.

No what I'm saying is if I change my battery at 6% when I power back up it still says 6% at 4100 or so.

Does that on every reboot doesn't it? No need to get hostile
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I'm not getting hostile I'm simply stating it does nothing useful. This has been confirmed by Google engineers as well. So wiping the battery stats will not change battery reading.

Can anyone help me get Masterbaron's toggle2g app to work with EB (2.3.7 cm)? This app really kept my phone battery alive on Tsugi and it looks like it should work using a simple flash.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
What does it do? Keep network tied down to EDGE?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
Cm7 has a built on toggle in the pull down settings.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
Toggle2g automatically shifts to 2g data when the screen is off for n minutes. So while the phone is idle in my pocket I am not using juice to maintain a 4g connection. I saw a dramatic increase in life. I prefer this auto toggle to manually toggling in the cm7 power notification widget.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Just shut off data when you're not using it. It saves much more battery. Or use Juice Defender.

Antutu paid vs set CPU
Which is better ?! What are the pros and cons? Opinions?

Set CPU works fine for me...all I want is one thing, change the speeds that's all. But for a user that wants more options then they would probably chose antutu

I used to use SETCPU, but finally I found that the battery life was almost the same as the situation when I did not use the SETCPU.....So I gave up at last and let the phone run as it was..

The problem is I over clock and use a beta rom.... so its a bit buggy and if I can't sew my ghz live then I won't be able to trouble shoot so easily.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
what i think is.. just use the "matched" radio and kernel.. and the battery will be at its peak.
Set cpu and check cpu tuner...

For me set cpu is better

I used to use SetCPU until I realized it was the culprit in a lot of my stability issues so I switched to using the kernel tweaked in liberty rom toolbox

Cpu tuner it's better than set CPU..i used it in my x8..stability issues are occurred..so i prefer CPU tuner..

Hi. I have recently flashed cm9 on my galaxy s 4g,and it's amazing. My only major issue Is that the battery drains from 100% to 0 in less than 4 hours with lite use. Is there something I'm forgetting to do or is it a typical issue? Thank you

Battery calibration.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda app-developers app
I've already tried that. I'm still having the same issues.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
Unfortunately, it could be a number of known "usual suspects", such as apps or possibly a 'rogue' app, signal strength (the more the phone has to seek connection, the more battery drain), try swapping your SIM, settings to help maintain acceptable battery discharge, wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, sync, are just a few things that could be the cause. You can try a full charge to full discharge until the phone powers down, then while off, charge fully and power back on to clear battery stats. Could be your battery as well...

Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
Check the cpu scaling governor. Usually 'ondemand' will do a decent job of conserving battery power.
Also you can use the 'top' command from the terminal emulator to check for processes hogging the cpu.
Moved to Galaxy S 4G Q&A section. :good:
Battery calibration is a debunked myth.
AudioOut_1 suggests keypad clicks, or some other alert sound. Try reading the BBS thread for suggestions, posting your logs there if you're still puzzled.

i advice you try Gremlin Remover Step 1 and 2 (FIRST!) then if problem persists more on to step 3

I noticed a significant difference between the battery life of CM7 and CM9. 7 is really good with battery life. 9, however, shows the SCREEN as being the main drain of the battery...even if it's been on my desk all day.
Are there any apps out there that LEGITIMATELY help save/prolong battery life? I have memory booster running but that just helps my phone run smoother by killing cached app processes. Anything you guys can recommend?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
This phone requires it's own nuclear power plant lol.
Seriously though, don't use memory boosters. They kill battery.
My setup is, CPU Tuner with timeriffic to set display brightness. With Maz's latest kernel I can get by... mind you I live in a very bad signal area (2 bars if I am lucky).
I set cpu to 216 when screen off with performance governor. Also I turn off data and Wi-Fi when screen turns off.

I have mazs latest beta kernel as well. Don't really see a difference in battery life from his previous oc kernel. Ill try CPU tuner though

Sure, but be careful with it. I once it accidentally to low enough power to where I could not get out of screen off (kept going back to screen off). Also using one cpu does not work.

Does CPU tuner even work with a kernel that not over clockable?

Would, but only two cpu states will be accessible... fairly useless.
Edit: you need voltage states for intermediate voltages, then it should work. But I have never seen a non OC kernel with granular voltage definition.

Antutu battery saver is genius. on the pulldown notification it gives battery % (+battery added)
so like 100%((+30)
also clean master (which is a memory booster) doesn't run in background so it doesn't deplete battery as much as some others
Sent from my LG-P999
i installed android booster, but also procured a brand new stock battery, and i actually am enjoying about 50-60% increase in battery life... although it still is not a lot (as far as i'm concerned!) after draining it, recharging to 100%, and then calibrating, i went 7 hrs 47 mins from 100% to 50% with normal use - calling, texting, some video, some gaming. not to bad considering my old battery would only last about 3 hours or less with the same kind of usage!!!

Check out DS Battery saver. I use it on my N7, catch is, to save battery it turns off all wireless signals. It also forces the device into deep sleep as well.

Yea, if you get the paid version you can create custom profiles. It's a nice app for a tablet, but only so nice for a phone.

I'm using Trinity ELP file "ELP-G2x-06022012.zip", which has worked best for me as my G2X doesn't work that well with faux-based kernels. I'm also running dual boot with Maz's awesome JB rom with hardware acceleration - this is where I install games and experimental apps.
