Dear Developers out there,
since there is this new forum only for app developing i think its worth a word to mention that we have already started a translator thread, where all developers are invited to get help for translations of their apps. I think every one who spend a lot of time in progamming has a high interssest to reach as lot people as posiible what is often done by providing the mother thongue of the enduser. We already have a lot of translators collected and they get more day by day.
Note that all you have to do is setup a project on applokaligo or corwdin or any other public accessible service where the translation can be discussed and improved and post the project here.
Maybe some mod can switch the location of the mentioned thread to here (where in my opinion is the right place).
Looking forward to see your request. Happy developing

Hi Friends,
I am new to xda as well as mobile app development. I am a student and have taken this as a course for my semester concentrating on Iphone and Android apps. As a part of this course I am suppose to submit an application as a project and a paper (not research paper).
I require your help as suggesting me some topics on both as I am very new to this field. As I like working on Android apps, I plan to make some good apps on Android as a part of my project and present a paper related to Iphone/IOS so that I could cover both.
Please suggest me some topics which could help me learn new technologies for this. Any links for reference from where I can collect the topics would also do.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Everyone, long time reader, modder, flasher, 0 time poster:.
I just wanted to get a gauge on the community's attitude towards hacking a paid application. Not for the intent of making it free, but for the intent of making it work!
You see, There's an app out there called "Escort Live!". Don't get me wrong, it's a great app as it integrates with your radar detector and laser jammers while driving... but it's rife with issues that the company just hasn't been able to address... see the following forum for more information on that:
I can't outside link yet due to the post count, but you can find all of the issues on escort live! for android's forums. I'm sure you can google them.
So... I made a post to try and help the community out by decompiling the 2.04apk hosted on their site... not even their latest version... with Virtuous 10 Studios, and Informed the community of the Sloppy Dev work, and that I would try to fix the issues with our specific phones (Motorola based).
2 days after that post was made...
I get permanently banned. no reason given.
They then pulled the old .apk's off of their site, so I've conveniently uploaded it to mega upload so everyone can see the crappy dev work for themselves... again... can't post links yet, but if someone with a post count pms me I'll send it to them.
I don't have enough of a post count to make a dev project out of this yet either, but as soon as I do then I'll post the progress on of the project on github.
If anyone would like to join in the effort to give PAYING CUSTOMERS a functioning apk to use with their phones... volunteers are more than welcome, especially those with java / xml experience.
I have a wordpress site that I can't link here, but it's my first name Philip Last Name Cabibi at wordpress if you're interested in tracking the issue with the full links.

From a technical standpoint the app is free (with premium subscription options) and I can only assume there's some sort of verification process for that subscription so as long as that's kept in I would think this is certainly acceptable though I'm not sure what your post actually said
did find this though (basically just talks about it and then links here and the blog) relevant post on his blog is here
@ University of Pi...
You are correct... It's a free app; however, in order to all the app to connect with your escort compatible radar detector, one must purchase a separate cord, and pay for a yearly subscription of about 79.95.
Full disclosure: the management at escort has been nothing but professional, and have extended the subscription of the beta testers for another year as a result of all the bugs.
The problem though is the lack of updates. Alot of us have invested alot of money into the app. Cost of Radar detector, Cost of the special chord, plus the cost of the subscription. New users, unfortunately, don't get the benifit of the extended subscription.
The point is... is that users of certain phones, paid for a product, and the product isn't functioning correctly. The reasons for this are the sub-standard programming of the devs. No notation on the methods in the smali files, poorly designed xml arrays, cryptic variable definitions, etc.
Personally, I feel as if the management have no control over the fixing of the problems, and are handcuffed, because the initial developer purposefully made the program extremely difficult for a new developer to come in and fix the issues, as a result of the poor structure of the program itself.
Anyway, glad to see you found those links... Thank you... didn't know that another thread was made requesting information about what happened to the original thread (they are correct, I in no way posted the entire source code of the program on their site) What I did was point out the flaws, and logcat results that tell a completely different story regarding the root issues effecting motorola devices than what the devs have told management, and as a result, what management has in turn relayed to the users.
Unfortunately, I can't follow up in the forum as I am permanently banned, but I, and many others, really just want the program to work correctly. It's an excellent concept and it's a shame that Escort is resorting to these types of tactics in an attempt to prevent the open source community from improving their product.
I'm sure even with the improvements, a subscription fee would still be required; however, the original concept of the OP was to convey the fact that it's possible for the open source community to bypass the "premium features".
I don't condone this; however, it's a difficult pill to swallow when faced between choosing the ethical choice.... paying the yearly subscription for a poorly functioning app... or sideloading a fully functioning app created by an open source community because the official developers aren't making any progress.
Would any other senior devs on this site wish to chime in on this?
You should have never been banned from there...but hey...no good deed goes unpunished right?
I've had EL for quite some time and it's irritating to no end to see how flawed it is. It's a shame that they won't welcome help and instead act that way toward people trying to do something good for them.
Hacking and posting an app that uses paid services is considered warez and will not allowed to be posted here nor will any help be given in doing so.
I am searching for a second person (next to me) who is experienced in a wide variety of coding languages to assist me in the development of a new OS... we will be literally coding from the ground up and will discuss more about my idea if I decide to choose you assist me. I am not releasing any further information at this time. The platform this will be coded for is irrelevant information for everyone except my team (surprises are half the fun...) if you are interested and experienced, please contact me through my inbox on xda. Must be flexible with time and patient, as this is a large project.
Note: Task will include, hardware programming, script coding, handmade hardware manufacturing, and 360 degree coding in many different forms. I
P.S If you do not understand how to code in more than five languages than do not bother replying to this thread.
Thank you.
Hi,
I'm Tim and we developed an Android app and started a startup in Germany. However, the app is free. Therefore, I hope that posting about the app in this forum to search cyanogenmod users is ok. If not, please delete this post.
I post here, because I, myself, love cynongenmod custom roms and would like to find out more about the compatibility of our app. Therefore, I search people that like to try new apps that report if it works from them. The app is location based and in beta (so not perfect yet) and for my cm10.1 on an Lg P990 and cm on a Galaxy S3 it works. I'd be curious about other phones. Therefore, I thought this forum here is the best place to find like minded people that use cm - Maybe even someone has the onplus one and can test it
We have the app for beta testers open and you can get it on our page STAPPZ com or find us on facebook (STAPPZ)
OK- now i talked so much about what we would like to test - here a brief description:
What is STAPPZ? In short, it is answer to the question: “What is live near me?”
With STAPPZ you participate in an open conversation with pictures and text at your current position. You create and perpetuate your own STAPPZ: Moments, noteworthy facts or any other information that you consider relevant.Nearby fellows (other STAPPZ users) see those STAPPZ and respond to them by posting something themselves or by saving them in their profile. This way, the people joining STAPPZ enrich and weave the world, collaborate and take advantage of the knowledge that others left around them.
However, if you like the app and have some feedback in other directions or you want more info or to blog about it, please let us know.
We'd be so glad to get feedback if it runs on your cm devices.
Kind regards
Tim
Hello everyone,
I want to share with all of you my first Android application with is published in Google Play.
Here is the link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ssb.gestitime
This is a simple but advance tool to schedule your time. It can help you to your studies, workouts in the gym, Kitchen, control your breaks/lunch/time in your work, and so forth.
The project started when I had to study for an important oral exam where I have a limited time. In this sort of oral exam, I really think it is not a smart way staring continuously at your watch. I wanted a simple and easy way to be able to control my remaining time. It would have to let me think and speak about whatever I had to speak about. It could be very useful to schedule my time in my phone.
One possibility could be to look for an App that let me configure the total time and some intermediate notifications to help me know how long I had been talking.
Then, in silent mode, I could get in my pocket and it could vibrate according with times I have previously configured. This way no body knows about it and only me could know about time and notifications/vibrations...
I didn't found any app that let me solve this problem and I thought it could be very useful for students and professionals, so after the exam, I started to develop gestitime!!!
This is my first Android App and I am trying to learn every day.
During the development, improvements, new ideas and useful functionalities come to my mind, so I am trying to do my best to get a good, easy-to-use and useful application updating continuously
I will also enjoy your feedback and comments.
In my opinion, user interface has a long way to improve, so I would really like tips and help!
I am also looking for volunteers to translate it in more languages, so any help would be welcome!!
Thanks!!!
PS: I want to apology for not having linked the App before.
I had forgot to tell that the App has an Apache 2.0 licence: Here is the link to Bitbucket if you want to contribute or, maybe, some novel developer wants to look at the code in order to learn something (have in mind that I am also a novel developer ):

Thanks
Hi again,
Tonight gestitime was update. I added an interesting features I think few similar apps have.
I've included custom expandable notification. You also can manage countdown from it. Even when the device is locked.
I hope someone enjoy and some feedback in this forum
Thanks
Hi again!
Yesterday I reach 100 downloads! you may think those are very few downloads but it has been a long way since I started to learn JAVA and Android by myself, three years ago. Challenging hard work that makes me feel proud!
To celebrate it I have just made a major update with a new design in the main screen much more close to Material Design paradigm.
I hope you like and someone could write some comment. These things make me feel motivated to go on! I am looking forward to hearing from all of you...
I also want to say thanks to al translator volunteers! German, Brazilian and Russian has been translated by xda members: noc.jfcbs, brenosnt and DumF0rGaming! Thanks mates!
If you want to help to translate to any language or maybe you need some translation volunteers, then you can miss this awesome thread;
