3G capacity limit - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Ok so the situation:
I bought my xperia s on contract of 12 months (MTV nexxt) which allows me to have 500MB of data with unlimited speed (actually it's like 400 kB/s or around 3 mb/s) but after that the DL/UL speed was supposed to drop down drastically but i was allowed unlimited internet with low speed. I'm over 500MB and when i checked the "slowed down" speed, it was like 15kB/s..i was like @#!*&
So my question:
By searching over the internet i found out that if i use proxy to use internet (youtube, google etc), the ISP won't be able to check my internet data used (am i wrong?)
Is it possible for me to fool the ISP from checking the amount of data i've used because in the contract it says 500MB but i was at like 800MB when my data speeds were slowed down.

[Q] 200 MB Of Data Gone In 2 Days?

I have the LG G2x with T-mobile using the 500 minutes of talk, unlimited text, and 200 MB of Data plan. My phone has Wi-Fi capabilities so what i wanted to ask was if i use my Wi-Fi instead of my phones 4G or 3G connection, does it still take away from my 200 MB? And what exactly takes away from the 200 MB? Surfing the web obviously, but what else? Android Market? I'm sorry if this is already a thread, if it is just point me in the right direction
Thanks.
If you use wifi, it will NOT count against your 200mb plan.
Anything that involves network/internet access will use up your plan. So internet, any audio/video streaming, the android market, social networking apps, advertisements in non-internet applications, its a pretty long list.
If that bothers you, you can always turn off your cellular data by going Settings > Data Manager > Data Delivery > Uncheck Data Enabled. Wifi will still work fine but your phone will stop anything from using up your plan.
Using Wi-Fi shouldn't use your data plan--Wi-Fi uses your Internet Service that you connect with from your computer which is separate from your phone's data service. Like how a PS3 or Nintendo DS can connect to wifi and browse the web, it doesn't cost anything except your House Internet bill that you get each month.
I'm not too sure what all uses the data plan but I can assume what they likely do based on the fact that phone companies are sneaky cheaters.
While on data:
Any application (or widget) that accesses the internet (includes accessing and downloading from the Android Market, Weather Widgets, Posting highscores, downloading information/new levels, etc.)
Anytime you use the internet (this downloads temporary files so you can view material)
Anytime you download a file from the internet to your phone
While on Wi-Fi (house internet connection, starbucks, airport, etc.):
Nothing.
Turn data off when you leave and only turn it on for a short while when you need and or want it.
That's what I do and it works out great. !
Happened to mee too once :S
you can use juice defender to turn off you wireless connections.
If use wifi it don't count your 200M plan
Make sure you are in range of the wifi 'hotspot', some users have been thinking they are using wifi and downloaded heaps only to realize they were out of range of the access point.

How does T-Mobile define tethering?

I've seen some discussion suggesting that they simply check for a browser desktop user-agent. Some have suggested that, due to this, tethering with an android tablet doesn't count as tethering. Others have said this untrue or only partially true.
Has anyone tested with different user agents to see what is counted as tethering and what is counted as mobile data?
Even if this is true, what about email and other non-http data use? How does T-Mobile determine whether it is normal data or tethering data?
I called T-Mobile and asked this exact question. A female tried to elicit a witty response of their network being notified when the app is used, and it counts data used from thereon out as tethering. So I then asked how it detects whether or not the data usage comes from the phone or tethered device when the hotspot is on... she basically said it just does.
That was a load of crap. I used my Nexus 10 on my Nexus 4's hotspot for three months. I had unlimited 4G data and 2.5GB of hotspot data. I don't know if any of this accrued as hotspot data, but they never cut off my service or redirected me to purchase more - so I would say it only picked it up as an Android device, or the phone itself, and did not count the data.
Even using a laptop, it only was able to detect web browsing as hotspot data usage. I could still play games online and such even after hitting the limit.
Somewhere around 4.1.2 Google added flags to tethered traffic on stock android per carrier request that allows the carriers to see tethered traffic and then do what they want with the flagged traffic, upcharge for tethering, block it, etc. Or of course do nothing. These are often removed in the roms as the part of the feature you see as "added tethering".
agent
I have unlimited Tmo. sometimes going to 40-50GB per month. I use my laptop at various location with the phone tethering. I use Chrome UA Spoofer (user agent), and change it on my laptop when i want to use it thru the phone. it has some limitations, bu tit is on case by case(i.e. site by site case). It works
I should also note that, according to T-Mobile, if you are on the unlimited plan you will never be cut off or see the upsell page if you go over. If you go over the 2.5G of hotspot data, you will be throttled to 2G speed for the remainder of the month.
tmobiles plans all include tethering/hotspot. all besides the completely unlimited high speed data include unlimited tethering. the unlimited high speed data plan include 2.5gb tethering with an option to purchase 2 more gb at $15.
They've definitely changed something in the past month or two. I was able to tether to my ipod w/o any issues. I hit my 500mb limit today. I figured, no big deal, will just fire up my vpn (L2TP) from the ipod. Done deal, right? Nope. They can still detect it somehow.
I will have to check it out on my pc. I have a hunch they can somehow tell that tethering is enabled on the phone.

[Completed] Wifi tether routher slows down for PS4 Help

I decided to root my phone (galaxy S5) and downloaded the Wi-Fi tether router from the play store. I recently got a message saying " You've used 100% of the paid high speed data on your T-mobile plan. Your Smartphone Mobile Hotspot speed will now be limited to 128 kbps until 09/23/2015. Smartphone data will still be at full speeds. My laptop connects at full speed when using a vpn. Last month it also would work using a user agent and the console would be unaffected for some reason this month T-mobile has found a way to stop it. The console will obtain the IP address, internet connection is successful but the download speed says 128 kbps making everything unplayable. My APN and router settings are all correct and I don't know what to do. This is my only means of playing online or enjoying Netflix plz help me.

My first recommendation is to get a contract with a higher data volume (or mobile internet flat rate) for unlimited speed.
The carriers need some money to provide a high quality mobile network.
My second recommendation is to check one of the following threads:
Bypass T-Mobile Tethering Restriction?
Unlimited tethering mod for T-Mobile S5 by tech128
WiFi Tether for S5
There you may find some useful hints how to configure things ...
If it does not work in your case, either ask in one of these threads, or think about my first recommendation

Data usage when mobile data is off

Hi All,
I recently changed to Dommel, a provider in Belgium, who gives a very detailed list of mobile data use.
I was astonished that I use mobile data every day while my mobile data is standard off because I have Wifi at home and at work.
After asking an explanation from Dommel, I searched the internet for an explanation for this problem and the only relevant thing I found was the following thread:
http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...ing-used-even-when-mobile-data-setting-is-off
In essence, they say that every time you call or get a phone-call, your phone reverts to 3G, HSPA+ in my case, if your provider does not support VoLTE (= telephony over 4G, packet based in stead of circuit-based) and goes back to 4G (LTE) after the call, leading to small amounts of data use during each protocol-switch. Apparently, this hidden data usage while mobile data is off happens all over the world but as only small amounts of data are used, most people do not notice it.
I compared my data usage with my call history and sometimes they coincide, sometimes not.
Then I noticed that many of the small data usages coincide with the typical moments I commute between home and work. Hence, moving seems also to consume small amounts of data maybe due to the handover from one antenna to the other, maybe because one supports 4G and the other only 3G.
I also noticed that amount of data consumed varies between 0.0002 MB and 0.18MB -- one would expect that a protocol switch between 3G and 4G or a handover between antennas consumes more or less equals amount of data.
Luckily, I remained in Belgium when I consumed about 50MB this way and it only cost me a few EUR/month. Looking at the data roaming tariffs of my provider, it turned out that if I had the same issue while traveling in Algeria, it would have cost me about 600 EUR (Yes, you read it right: six hundred EUR for 50 MB).
I have also good news: setting the preferred mobile network type to WCDMA (=3G) in the mobile settings seems a work-around to this problem. According to the tech guy at the provider-side, I did not use any data anymore with this setting unless I put mobile data to on.
I would really like to understand what is going on. Unfortunately, the tech guy at the provider-side really tries to help but seems to understand even less about this issue than myself.
Hence, I felt it is time to call the experts: xda-dev Does anybody understands this hidden data usage while mobile data is off?
regards
Dries

Can i block that server who check my daily internet usage (Bypass Data Cap)?

Can i block that server who check my daily internet usage means FUP (Fair Usage Policy) whether i can enjoy full speed internet without limitation ( which can be said Internet Throttling). Sometime ago, i was enjoying full speed 4G internet after FUP without reducing speed but not now. So I have noticed that when i was enjoying full speed internet without limitation then i didn't used to get any warning message from my network provider. But, now when i got warning message from my network provider and after few times my internet speed go slow. So there is any way to block that server who check my internet usage and when i reach their limitation they reduce my speed. I have used also VPN , but couldn't work. I hope you understood my question.
thank you
