No no no, I got my mate to invite me on Tuesday night at about midnight and I didn't receive the invitation email until 3pm the next afternoon, 15 hours later...! Just give it some time! Beta is currently closed, but when you get your email, try and it'll let you know what the story is

will google+ be open to the everyone like facebook? or will it forever be by invitation? on one hand it is good to keep spam out, on the other hand it seems a bit elitist.
Gmail released the same way 11 Years ago. I am guessing the unimaginable interest would kill their existing allocated infrastructure if it just opened up. They have to do trend analysis or sampling to get an idea of how much infrastructure they have to increase by.
They've had at least two capacity-related problems in the past two weeks.
