I used this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957160
Worked like a charm and installed the recovery of my choice afterwards.

This should work,,

You don't have to do a permanent install of CWM. Download CWM for your device from clockworkmod.com/rommanager, install zip thorough stock recovery and CWM will replace the stock recovery temporarily. When you reboot your device, you should have your stock recovery back.

Cant make a nandroid in recovery

Yesterday I rooted my 8013 note with UEALGB software and tried to make a nandroid in high on android cwm. It would reboot recovery everytime i started the backup process. So i flashed TWRP through goo manager app then tried to make a nandroid and the same thing would happen. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
Edit: I just tried to flash the stock recovery and it seems like I am stuck with cwm or twrp. I flashed stock recovery through Odin and it said it was successful but when I reboot into recovery I still have custom recovery.
Edit: Seems to only happen when I try to backup the system partition.

I get the same problem, my device will reboot about a third of the way through the backup on both cwm and twrp.

Zeodmaxs root without recovery first then I went back and flashed high on android cwm through Odin later in the night because I wanted to start playing around with stuff.

The root injected image causes problems. I think you're gonna have to ODIN the original image back on it to fix it. Search around, it's here somewhere.
Go for method #2 next time. Roots without an issue.
Did you flash the the Superuser.zip file after flashing Zedomaxs cwm.tar fie in odin? This is needed to get true root priveleges.
Not sure why you can't reflash a stock rom though, that's how I've always gotten rid of root access to revert back to stock...

I didn't flash the superuser.zip. I have root while in android though. I will try to flash it and see if that helps.

[Q] CWM Recovery vs stock recovery

after I flash CWM 6.0.1.2, if I reboot into recovery, the phone goes into Android system recovery. Why is that?
In order to go back to CWM Recovery, I have to go to ROM Manager, flash CWM 6.0.1.2 again, and then reboot into recovery. Once I am in CWM and need to exit (reboot), I get asked the following:
"ROM may flash stock recovery on boot. Fix?"
Yes - Disable recovery flash.
Should I click yes so the phone does not go into Android system recovery? there is a message that says this cannot be undone so I do not want to do something that may screw up my phone.
I am on stock but rooted, of course. Thanks.
Same thing happens to me. Even if I use twrp or cwm touch

[Q] Multiple Recoveries?

I currently have a stock, rooted, unlocked SGS3 with CWM Ver 6.0.1.2. I also have EZ Recovery installed. I'm curious about TWRP, can I install it and have multiple recoveries or are the recoveries a one at a time deal?
Thanks
There one at a time. Just flash one and test it out. Don't like it, flash another. Currently I'm enjoying CWM.

You can flash whatever recovery you want with either rom manager or ez recovery. I like the touch version of cwm recovery.
Also if you have a custom recovery you cannot receive OTA updates

If I flash TWRP, will it overwrite my current CWM? Or do I need to remove it first? Also, could I flash it from within CWM or would that break something?
Thanks

No, you can install CWM using Rom manager. You can install TWRP using GooManager (tap Menu, then install Openscriptrecovery) You can also install either through EZ Recovery if you have the img file.

You might want to update your cwm.

[Q] Is it safe to flash TWRP over CWM via Odin?

Hi, I want to switch from CWM to TWRP.
I tried flashing TWRP on SGH-T989 before but I started from unrooting my phone then root it (just flashed TWRP instead of CWM and flash SuperSU)
I would like to know if I can just flash TWRP using ODIN on this phone if I'm currently using CWM 5.0.x.x?
Please let me know.
Thank you

You dont flash anything. You open goo manager hit menu and press "install open recovery script" it will open up directly to the right file for skyrocket recovery and then download and automatically install. Simple
But before you do anything now on.. Read this thread about how to install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622917 so you dont do something bad.

Hi, my bad I just used the wrong word. I did exactly what you said above but goomanager just keep force closing / just stuck there and nothing happened. That's why I flashed it on Odin with my SGH-T989 because the same thing happened.
Is there any other easy methods?

That's as easy as it gets man. Must be user error if it's happening on 2 different phones. Works fine for everyone else.

So in this case can I just flash it with Odin?
Or should I unroot the phone and start from 0?
Thanks

If there's a tar file for twrp sure, make sure it's the right file.
I don't know what Rom you're on or what you're doing, but I know the open recovery install works and its very easy to do.

Yes. As long as you have a custom recovery installed. 'Root' is in the ROM.
In other words if the device is not rooted, but had a custom recovery installed, you can use the recovery to flash a new ROM that already has root access enabled. You don't have to have root before hand.
