[Q] help my AT&T samsung s2 skyrocket wont turn on - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

My Samsung wont turn on. It had water damage to it so I took it apart and cleaned it with 99% isopropol alcohol. When I put the battery back in it vibrates and shows the Samsung logo briefly then goes away. What should I do?

Can you get it into download mode? If it's water damage it could be a lot of things. But if you can get into download I'd try to odin back to stock and then go from there.

By pressing the up and down volume button and the lock button at the same time it flashes the Samsung logo. How do you get it to download mode?

Plug your usb cable into your PC. Hold vol up and down, then plug the usb into the phone while still holding the vol keys. Hold until you get in download mode.

He was saying that the problem may have been a sticky power button, and to remove it will need a soldering iron. He has done a few this was and never had an issue.
On topic, I have had the same issue with multiple roms, a black screen after the Samsung screen goes away. Did it with the CM 10.2 and the DU rom.

Reset my phone and now its messed up

ok so umm I have this problem on my phone. My volume was messed up, it would automatically start decreasing at random, So I thought maybe resetting it would fix it.
So when I reset it, I get this messed up screen that Ive never seen in my life before, it was like

also none of the lights are on
I dont see what I did wrong, I didnt download anything stupid... whats going on? ;__; PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEEEE help me, im so confused right now! The only thing I do wrong is over charge it alot, is that why? WAIT, DID I GET HACKED OR SOMTHING?? (Why didnt I buy that iPhone...)
( I read some other posts similar but I had no idea what people were talking about.... like download stuff onto your phone to fix it? how the heck do I do that???)
Your volume down button is pressed. When you reboot the phone while holding volume down it takes you to the bootloader. See if the button is jammed in. If so, try tapping the phone against your palm to unstick it.

How do I un-jam it? Ive tried that and out of the 142903480 times, twice I got some bit of green text under the 5 selections, I wasnt able to catch what it said cause it dissapeared 2 seconds after.
Oh and the power button isnt working because when I click power to select the first option (the fastboot thing, whatever that does...) It only worked right when this problem happend, and after that It wont do anything D:

I think so. ... So the only thing wrong with it was the buttons or somthing?
You're just stuck in bootloader. You should still have a ROM installed to boot to (if you didn't wipe that when you reset). Should be able to battery pull and boot normally.
Oh wait, it thinks you're holding volume when powering on cuz your button is stuck. That is hardware failure. You may, actually, have to use insurance, or your provider may even swap it out for fairly cheap if it was purchased fairly recently.

Skyrocket NOT shutting off

I seem to have a strange problem. My Skyrocket does not want to stay off. I power down the phone, and it comes back up on its own immediately. I've tried this with and without charger connected. I had this problem on Embryo 5.4, and now also on 6.1. Right now, my only option when I need the phone to stay off (like when traveling by air, which I do often) is to take the battery out. The second I put the battery back in, the phone boots up.
Could anyone help me out here?
I tried searching the forum for similar issues, but could not find any. But in case I've missed a thread, feel free to start the flaming .
Thanks in advance for any help.

I believe it happens to me when my battery is full or mostly full. Does it happen to your phone when the batter is low?
Stuck power button. It's a known issue on the skyrocket. There are a number of threads on how to clean it. Search stuck power button on the i727.

if the power button wont shut off the phone then its a dead button not a stuck power button, just get an app that would do a shutdown/restart/recovery function

[Q] Truly Bricked?

Hello:
I attempted to load AT&T Stock Rooted DE-ODEX - 1.26.502.12 today, since I was having some issues with the camera/video while using Rage One 1.1.0, which worked great for a few weeks other than that, but now my phone is completely stuck after several hours and full battery on "HTC quietly brilliant (pun intended?) with the red text on the bottom "This build is for development...blah blah blah".
Is this thing seriously bricked with no hope? I've searched all over the web and seems like people use the term too loosely, making it really difficult to figure out if there's any hope for a phone in this state. No red light when charging or recognition by any computers that it's connected and flashboot attempts only respond with "waiting for device".
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It does not sound to me like you have a carrier locked HTC one XL... but as long as you can get to bootloader you are not bricked.
What phone do you have? Your bootloader should have the proper info.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. You are correct, I meant to post it in this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2222 although I originally posted in the international forum and he sent me to this one, really sorry about that.
It's an AT&T HTC One X and I can't get anywhere, just sits there at the initial splash screen, for hours now.

Press and hold power. The capacitive buttons will blink about 7 times or so and the screen will go black. Once the screen goes black, let go of power and press and hold volume down until the bootloader comes up.
Then tell me everything it says on the top portion of that screen. Don't bother including the stuff at the bottom.

No such luck, the buttons on the bottom blink, but it never turns off, just sits there on the splash screen. I'd be super happy if I could get the bootloader back! The red charging light is also off and I have it plugged into the wall. Also, 3 computers and 8 usb ports do not recognize it as being connected.

Keep holding it until the screen shuts off. Sometimes it blinks way more than 7 times.
If that doesn't work. Let the battery drain then charge for 15 minutes or so and then press and hold volume and power down while the device is off to turn it on in bootloader mode.

I thought about letting the battery drain as well, although it's a full charge and not sure how long it would take to drain, although I think it might be worth a shot. What happens when you mount USB storage in TWRP? (also, best to use TWRP 2.3.3.1 or under if you aren't already, to avoid further complications)

This i727 is giving me a really hard time

So i have this i727 that keeps vibrating like when you leave the power buttom hold down when its out of battery like every 2 seconds, so yes i checked many threads before i posted but they weren't able to reach download mode like my case here, but here is the problem.
When i reach download mode the phone's screen goes blueish(BSOD without white letters :silly then black and back to vibrating every 2 seconds.
I have opened the phone and cleaned the board a bit, checked the power buttom and it seems to be fine. Tried my skyrocket battery and still no luck.
Any suggestions?
I'll post a video.

I checked the power button when i opened the phone 2 days ago it was dirty and i cleaned it and still no luck, this time im gonna open it up again and re-check the power button at work i guess and let you guys know. :highfive:
its not only about dirt it also could be a failed power button which is broken internally, read the sticky Read This b4 posting | THE MOST Common Questions Answered HERE and go near the end to read about the procedure on fixing it
Thanks a lot guys for the support.
Got it fixed, it was a stuck power button.
So i had to do this to the power button switch then pressed it hard a couple of times(while it was like on the photo below)and connected the board without the case to test it and VOILA it worked, so then i placed the metal embrace back to place and closed the phone to test again and it's working like a charm.

Hope this help some other people who have the same problem. :highfive: :fingers-crossed: :good:

Firstly, why are you trying random button combinations? There's only one button combo that you should use and that's power + volume down. Next, when you connect the phone to your PC, does it show up in Device Manager? What does it show up as?

There's plenty of information right here in this device section that tells you exactly which button combo to use. Just trying random things is a very bad idea, that's how you damage your phone. Anyway, are you sure you can't get into the bootloader? Hold the volume down button, then hold the power button (so you're holding both buttons together), after a couple of seconds let go of the power button but continue to hold the volume down button until you reach the white screen with text, this is your bootloader.

It's too hard to say, you might have just gotten really unlucky and have a spontaneous brick. A jtag repair might be able to revive it though so look into that.

It isn't something you can do yourself. I'm not sure where you are in the world but you'll need to find a professional who can do it for you. If you're in the US I hear good things about Mobiletechvideos, I don't think they have a web site but they're on YouTube and Facebook.

Unfortunately I'm iranian. There's no such a thing as 'professional' exist in mobile centers in Iran. They're all frauds. I can't trust them
