[Q] - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
I have a Xperia arc s lt18i with clockworkmod installed, with custom rom "xperia ultimate hd 3.0.2" and LOCKED bootloader
I was able to install that custom rom via clockworkmod because there is a program that allows to install clockworkmod even if your bootloader is locked.
I'd like to install custom rom "Racing Bean Version 3.1", but in the official thread for this rom there is a requisite: UNLOCKED bootloader.
I would like to know if this is really true, as long as it sounds strange to me: I tend to think that installing racing bean could be possible if I have clockworkmod, even with a LOCKED bootloader...
Am I right or wrong ? Before testing I'd like to very sure to not mess my phone and/or loose my time.
Thanks in advance !

[Q] Gingerbread to jellybean Neo V

I have rooted Neo V Gingerbread. I am going to unlock the bootloader so that I can flash custom ROM like MIUI or Paranoid Android.
I got 2 questions
1) Is Unlocking Bootloader by official technique is safe?
2) Can I directly go from Gingerbread to Jellybean? Or do I have to factory reset my phone first(Have backed up my ROM using CWM), then go to ICS first and then flash Jellybean ROM?
Help a Noob please! Thnx

1) It usually is, but you're doing it at your own risk. Only continue if you know what you're doing.
2) I think you can go to it directly, though I'm not 100% sure.

Please help me Unblock bootloader for Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 YP-G70 International

Hi Guys,
I don't know if this is the right section to post this question, I'm new in the forum.
I just kept my ex boyfriend tablet and now I'm experimenting with it, but I have a few questions:
If I want to use Odin to flash a custom kernel , let's say rj's Kernel, do I need to have the bootloader unlocked ?
How do I unlock the boot loader for Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 International version ?
Could you please help me Unlock the bootloader ? Could you please explain if I need the bootloader unlocked to install a custom kernel with ODIN ?
Do I need the bootloader unlocked to install a recovery and then do a Nandroid backup and then install a custom kernel ?
Device:
Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 - YP-G70 International version.

To flash a ROM or recovery and do a NAndroid backup you need an unlocked bootloader.
To unlock your bootloader, use this Windows program: http://www.mediafire.com/?f3gi19g1zz3frg3
I hope this helps you, but don't forget, with unlocking your bootloader, all your data will be erased!

well with this device im not sure if you need to unlock the bootloader. some need the bootloader unlocked some don't. i would ask in the official forums for the Player http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-player you need to tell them its international as well.
Thanks Guys, it has been really helpful.
Could you please let me know the name of the program I have to use to unlock the bootloader for this device?
I've been reading like crazy and I understood when I unlock all data will be lost, but that's not a problem at all.
Then I would like to flash rj's kernel which comes with Clockworkmod and then from there I would be interested in doing some Nandroid backups and installing cyanogenmod.
In fact I would like to be able to do a backup even before installing a custom kernel so I can preserve the original kernel and android, I installed an application called something like nandroid backup and I managed to do a backup compatible with clockworkmod but the thing is that it skipped the boot and recovery folders, so it makes me think the bootloader is locked.
Please any comments are very welcome.
If there is anyone here from Ft. Lauderdale we could even meet in a mall and do the thing together with the laptop.
Thanks again for all your help honeys

Like I said your going to want to hit up the official forums but I'm keeping a lookout for a way. There has to be a way if there's custom ROMs already

Can I install Custom Rom on locked bootloader?

Hello,
I bougth a new Xperia L branded to Vodafone.
Android version : 4.2.2 / kernel version : 3.4.0-g74b701b-00054-gde56c65-dirty / Build number : 15.3.A.1.14
I rooted succesfully my Xperia L using rootkitXperia(L).
I install also CWM recovery 6 using this site: h**p://techglen.com/2014/01/01/install-cwm-6-on-xperia-l-c2104-c2105-locked-unlocked-bootloader
Recovery seems to work, at least I try to baclup my current stock rom.
I validate my bootloader status, and it says unlock bootloader allowed: no.
Can I anyway install a custom kernel and KitKat Rom?
Thanks

Unfortunately, you can't
Installing a custom kernel needs an unlocked bootloader
The recovery I flash seems not 100% working.
What are the possible recoveries I can flash?
It sems that we can eventually flash roms for bootloader locked.
Can someone please tell me which Rom can be used and what is the best one?
Thanks

Yes, the recovery for locked bootloader doesn't work completely, though you can flash zips.
Also, presently there are no other recoveries for locked bootloaders.
There are some good roms for locked bootloaders. I have not tested all of them but both DextroDroid and CnT seem to be good. You can search in the development section and those marked with [L-B] or [L/B] (means Looked Bootloader) will work for you. Go through the whole thread to know about all the pros and cons.
Hope it helps.
Hit thanks if it does
I found Revolution HD, will try install it tonigth!
Thanks again
