How to disable fast/instant dialing option in custom ROMs?
I want dialer to behave just like stock, I don't want phone to make a call on just one single touch on contact name. I want the options menu back.

So the stock captivate has a reject list that you can add numbers to so that when the person/number calls, it will go directly to voicemail.
I updated to the Serendipity rom and the option is there, but it doesnt work. Is it like this with all custom roms? Thats a feature I would REALLY like to keep.
Go to Settings > Call Settings > All Calls > Auto Reject.
Should be obvious from there.
works on phoenix and this rom flights.
Thanks guys. I will check out that setting.
hi i have question how do i change the name that appears to people when i call them. it always appears like private and i cant find the option on settings i used to know how on Gingerbread but now that i am on ICS i have no clue, i have a Nexus s btw
Open up the "Phone" app, press menu and have a look around. They've moved it from system settings.
From phone app, press menu then setting. Its the first choice after you choose additional settings.
All,
We have only a few options for SMS-On-Call-Reject feature in E8.
If I choose to type my own text on rejecting a call, the text will remain in the template list, but disappears from the list after a restart.
Is there a way I could access this feature and update a few templates on my own so that they remain throughout?
Many Thanks!

You are luckier than me as I could not even find the option...
I had it in my M7 GPE but I've thought HTC ROM does not have it!
In dialer when I want to call to somebody I click on that contact and then phone is displaying all phone numbers (work, private etc) assigned for that person, and I need to click again on selected phone number and finally green phone icon to start a dial - it's ridiculous.
If contact have only one phone number assigned, then even if I click on that contact phone do not auto dial, it only display this number and I need to again click number and then green icon to start a dial.
Is any way to set galaxy s7 phone to auto dial default phone numbers without clicking two times to do this? I used previuosly AOSP roms and I had only to click on contact and phone automatically dial to that person - so simple.

If you are on a TouchWiz ROM you just swipe to the right to call whatever the default number is, swipe to the left to send a text message.
thanks good to know
I just switched to google dialer - much much better now.
I can't find a way to setup a unique text notification sound for individual contacts.
In the contacts app, I see an option for Ringtone but nothing for texts.
Is this simply not possible?
Don't have any way to test rn, but from what I can tell if you go thru the messaging app and open the people and options of a contact you've been messaging, there's an option to change from notification there.

Yeah there is an option through the texting apps themselves, but I can see to get it working. I can set them up, and the only one that comes through is the one a set up through settings, doing, SMS
Signal lets you set different tones per contact.
