ChameleonOS first public beta is out!! - HTC One S

Just a heads up that our ChameleonOS (ChaOS) public beta is out www.chameleonos.org. We should have our threads up in the development section in the next few days, but you can feel free to give it a try now.

Just installed. Seems great so far. No issues with the install, and everything seems to be running smooth. Great work!

I've been running it for a while now before release and haven't come across any issues, would be nice to see if i missed something
Keep in mind if you want to change themes you can use MIUI themes, just there may few a images that don't cross over, but they almost completely theme it. We hope more themers pick up now that we are released

This looks neat.
Is this based on CM10.1 or CM10 releases, or branched a long time ago?
Does the theme engine allow a customizable phone dialer layout? I never liked the CM10 dialer, but I know some roms allowed the ui to be shuffled.
I should probably just download and try it, but my internet isn't handling another big download right now.

It is based off 10.1, as of now you can't change layouts, but that app hasn't been worked on yet, and has plans to change..we have a thread on our forums for suggestions if you have dialer layout ideas in mind

Hmm, finally something new which is not a mashup of CM, AOKP or PA.
Are Gapps included?

AW: ChameleonOS first public beta is out!!
Which one is the beta? The build from April 1st?

April 1st is the beta release, the rest are nightlies, but I haven't encountered any problems yet with them

Looks great! I will give this a try tonight.
Thanks!
:good:

thanks ill try this
Edit: Ok I lasted about 5 mins before restoring my backup.. maybe in time more will be added to it but for now its not for me. Nice to see more roms though

Is this based on the 4.1.2 cm builds? Just read a couple post back. It says cm 10.1. I checked the change log and it says 4.1.2. Trying to port this. Been using 4.2.2. As base.
Never mind I looked at the build prop says 4.2.2.

downloading tonight for sure. nice to have something new to mess around with.
can someone test bluetooth and see if an echo is present?
lindsay, i'm assuming that themes are not present on Ville?

Only option for me is to port. Don't have the hardware to build anything at the moment. Running a 32 bit PC. I believe you need a 64 bit to build unless I read wrong. I'm still learning the ropes.

Beautiful looking ROM, but I could not get wifi to work.
Is this just me, or are others experiencing this?

Reloaded CM9 Toggles

Hi Guys, i just found this in XDA Themes Section.
It is for Galaxy Nexus and ported to Motorola Atrix, so has anyone tested it on cm9 for our play? does it work?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531222
Thanks !!!!!!
It says tested on: Xperia Play (R800I) in the link. I guess it will work, might test now. Thanks for sharing!

EDIT: Tested, works like a charm on CM9 (FXP117)!!
Really nice looking, lots of adjustments.
I've used it a while ago with CM9. It works well.
Can anyone test it with AOKP RC1? Because with CM9 my Wifi is not working

WiFi mess up might be something that went into the build, but had problems. Anyhow, it is fixed now
It would be cool if source code was posted for this, then it could even get merged into CM9.

for those that flashed it, does the launcher work, i might have stripped too much, aokp installs two launchers, might have to put "launcher2" back in but its 12mb
Isn't it either that or Nova as the choices? Since i'm bored and noone else has replied, i'll flash it and check.
Edit: Did the normal wipes and it didn't even appear to boot for me..

Ya I'm pretty sure launcher2 is the default unless you choose nova. I normally just install apex then remove them. I'm sure there is probably an alternative to launcher2 that's smaller in size.
Edit: holo launcher HD is only 1.41mb if that'd work.

Yeah just another step in my restore routine and would shorten my 45 minute setup each full wipe flash. Personally I don't use anything really that comes with cm (browser, calculator, clock, movie maker, dsp) as I have replacements for EVERYTHING (circle clock, chrome, realcalc, power amp, etc) and i would love it if these "superlite" builds straight up took EVERYTHING while keeping the rom stable

Isn't 1.09 capable of flashing kernels?
It just turned itself off after a few seconds into boot. the hw keys lit up for a few seconds, but it just ended up rebooting. I should mention I was using rohan's latest kernel.
I'll edit my original post, and try again with the stock kernel after classes.

EDIT:
Booted just fine, I didn't know it was based on cm9, hence the kernel issues lol. This rom is slick. Best of both worlds, MIUI themes and everything else cm9. Fast too.
Wish it was based cm10 though, then it would be perfect.
Thanks for trying it out. Its based on CM9 at the moment. We have the CM10.1 port ready but we need to do proper testing before we release.
It will be available next week if everything goes well.

Beanstalk 4.4 and other KitKat based Roms.

Just wanted to let you guys know about a beanstalk build I found on goo. It's from 11-24 but it does have a handful of features some of you may be missing. So far so good for me.
Edit. Feel free to discuss you're luck, feelings, and how things are going for whatever KitKat build you're running at the moment.
I'm mainly concerned with builds like Slim, Carbon, OSE, and (Any builds LOL) that have built in settings for customizing everything under the sun. I know most everything can be done with xposed. And I've had no trouble with Xposed, but I'm just looking for roms out there that have this stuff baked in.
Thanks to all the dev's for bringing KitKat to the S3 so quickly. It's hasn't been long, and I know many Rom Groups are waiting until they can incorporate their feature set and get things stable, but the CM builds from Spencer and DMeadows have been nothing but solid for me. I just miss a lot of the little stuff. As one user suggested Gravity for Xposed works great, I just didn't want to go this route if possible.
Thanks guys for sharing all that you have to this point. I hope no one is mad or offended at me posting these things.. Everyone should know they could blow up your phone like the death star blew up alderan.

Where might I find that? I'd like to find a slim carbon or liquid. Anything that has net speed in the status bar. I know slim doesn't have that but it's still slick.
As far as this build. I didn't leave it on long because it lacked the ability to change the toggles. It did have some features that Spencer and meadows didn't have. But also lacked that one I mentioned earlier.
Guess I'm going to have to do some searching.... and see what else is out there.

Thanks a bunch man. I've been looking for a fairly recent build to at least be able to edit the quick settings, and use back to kill, lock screen stuff would be nice.. PA is running awesome! I think its the best 4.4 out and I've tried most of them. Invisibleks newest is great too. But PA added some features I love like Quick Reply messaging and option to disable the button lights.

Is that with the 11/29 build? I always disable the backlight keys and just use pie and the home button only. Idk why any devices have capacitive buttons still

Android "L" release

Since Android announced the newest version of their platform today I figured I get the ball rolling. I know our device is nearing its end of life, a question remains....
What are the chances we see the "L" version in ROM form on our phones? Since the Developer Preview SDK is being released as well as Nexus 5&7 getting it tomorrow.
Really, Lol?
Aosp based: without a doubt.
TW based: unlikely but not for hardware reasons.

Yes PA and the others will have "L" running as soon as possible. I just installed PA 4.4.4 and its awesome!
Yes I was just curious if a rom could be made from the SDK our if they needed source code which won't be available until later this year.

So I suppose that means we won't see a "L" ROM until it officially drops and we have source code available.
Atleast I can try it on my N7 today

Correct.
Just to clarify, SDK is an acronym for "software development kit". The android L developer preview being released is not an SDK.

The new PA only says 4.4 man not 4.4.4
EDIT: Nevermind I only clicked on one of the sources, found what I was looking for

I was messing around with PA earlier. Looks solid. I ended up screwing it up a few times after removing apps I didn't use then ended up flashing a kernel not meant for the rom. I'll check it out again another time or tomorrow lol

Nice i cant wait to try out the new L dev release. I hope we can get it running on the S3 Soon!
Here is the L keyboard:
http://d-h.st/vEu
You must delete the stock Google keyboard (LatinIME.apk) first!
Flash in recovery
if flash does not work move apk to system/app AND move the lib file to system/lib
Personally I like the G3 keyboard way better.

The Preview is nothing but photos. Release of the actual system is months away.

there are people running it right now. just not on an s3
running slimrom 4.4.4 myself, I dont know what I'd do without slimrom, it will play a decisive roll in the next phone i get, if there's no slimrom, I won't be getting that phone.
and yes, the G3 keyboard is awesome, unless you're a swyper, the predict on the swype function is really hit an miss.

Uhh.. no...
no one has an Android L ROM, there is no source code until fall. Developers can get a minimally functional preview image for Nexus 5 or 7 and when I say minimal I mean you can see the basic interface pieces, theme, google search and keyboard and so on..
You can see a good deal of what the theme will be for the next Android release, lots of white background and flat colors, Not a big fan. Seems very Appleish to me. There is a dark version too though.
You can also see this using the development platform virtual device emulator.

you'll have to define what you think "minimally functional" is because there's people running it, calling, texting, and installing/running apps, right now, for instance: http://www.reddit.com/r/Ingress/comments/296rdk/ingress_works_on_android_l/
now I know it's not finished, and I know it's more of a beta build... but it's very functional if you ask me
