[Q] - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I am looking for an app to monitor battery life.
I'd like one that will show which processes are running by percent as well as average battery drain per hour. Anyone have any good suggestions?
Thanks so much!

I also vote for Betterbatterystats. In the google play store, it is a paid version but it has a free xda exclusive version. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809

Battery life

I'm currently on cm7 and I love the rom. But I seem to get better battery life with the stock rom. Can anyone walk me through on how to optimize the battery life on cm7?

first thing first, uninstall any social networking app, because they sync constantly and will run your battery down, if you have live wallpaper enabled, turn it off, keep gps off, and wifi if not in use, turn 4g off if your not actively using it , remove all unnecessary widgets , download an app called setcpu and create some profiles, if not of that works, try a different kernel
I'm on a stock rooted 2.3.5 using Netarchy Kernel. I undervolted using SetCPU and have only one profile. When the screen is off it downclocks to 200mhz. I do have my gps always on. The only thing I sync though is my GMAIL and weather every 4 hours. At the end of the day my phone says it has been unplugged for 17 hours with around 30 percent of the battery remaining.
I just carry a second battery. I want to be able to use the hell out of my phone and still have battery left over, so I just have two. I can have everything sync, brightness up, use GPS, etc

Now that I reread that i worded that incorrectly. Just my Weather Syncs every 4 hours. My gmail syncs all the time.

yeah gmail is push. really it won't hurt your battery that much
This is what I do also, with every phone I own. Two batteries is the way to go

I have weather, gmail sync every hour and friendcaster set to every 15 minutes and I still average 17-18 hours at the end of the night with 30ish percent left on a stock rooted nexus 2.3.4 with the stock kernel.

OEM Samsung 1440 mah batteries go for around $10 on ebay.
I want to get a second battery but I need to find a good battery charger though. Does anyone have any recommendations?
advice from a nooob...
i am a complete ant total noob to this community however, i ran shabbypenguins battery mod/tweak for the NS4G and it seems to be giving me more life out of my battery. from what i understand this started as a single mod and has grown over time to a collection of scripts that are meant to improve battery with a long list of features that work in the background. you need a custom kernel like net's but it's really easy to run. it is in the NS4G development thread.

yeah it does it by applying cpu profiles that slow down the processor depending on the battery level. I'd rather have shorter battery life and more performance, so I just have a second battery. It's an OEM model that I got off eBay for about $10.
Matr1x kernel is great on battery.

I bought a brand new OEM battery off eBay for $9.95. Its the same battery that came in the phone.

What kind of battery life do you get? Could you share your settings, if you're on wifi, etc?
Some of these ROMs are awesome on battery life. I got great battery life with Open Soju. I then switched to kushdeck with the matrix kernel and the battery life was stupendous. The last day I used it my phone was on battery for 18 hours and I still had 49% left with moderate usage. Now I'm running stock 2.3.5 with the matrix kernal and my battery sucks again.

2.3.6 Kills the battery

Have not got around to calling samsung yet after complaining, but find that the battery dies a lot faster than before. I recently uninstalled juice defender to test and will reinstall under the new os to see if that had a effect. Any any ideas or clues to fix it?
Thanks
Did you re-calibrate your battery after the flash? Usually a good ideal, and it usually takes a few days for the took to settle in.

pretty misleading title.. 2.3.6 has been a big jump up from the older leaks for me. To each their own. I would re-calibrate.
2.3.6 had given me great battery life. I would definitely calibrate your battery either through CWM or the battery calibration app. Almost always after a new flash my battery is horrible until I calibrate.
Another thing may be... I previously had Juice Defender in the past. I found that it seemed to kill my battery faster than without it. The way the android operating system is set it automatically helps save your battery life. Most running applications get moved to the background and are using very close to 0 battery. For anything that I do not want running constantly I use titanium backup and freeze. It works flawlessly.
I do not use anything such as juice defender or auto task killer and get about 44 hours out of my phone overclocked to 1.3 with moderate to high use. Let android do its thing and you will be better off IMO.
Juice defender does help when setup properly. I've gotten over 100 hours of battery life using JD - though I'm still on 2.3.5

Check your battery stats to see if there are any unnecessary programs or tasks that are killing your battery life by running all of the time. Something that you may have had set-up or syncing differently since you updated.
2.3.6 has been giving me great battery life, I am running stock KJ6 with KJ6 Voodoo-kernel, no UV or OC, no "battery saving apps" and I'm getting 12 to 14 hours with heavy use, 30+ hours with light use.
Check this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19178400&postcount=19
And the link on it...it explains how the SGS4G will automatically calibrate the battery under certain conditions, and how to go about it.

I never had a problem with the battery life before. On froyo it usually lasted all day with about 50% left.
On kj6 it lasts all day and about 70% is left at night.
I have no task managers installed and syncing with google, exchange, facebook, weather and couple other services.
How many here use Bluetooth? I usually use it quite a bit, but noticed that the new official kj6 uses an unusual amount of Bluetooth share (my battery life has dropped dramatically as a result).

yes I did.
I'm currently at 66 hours with 24% battery left. probably won't make it to 100 (4 days+) on this charge, but I have on more than one occasion.
I am a light user though, only some wifi browsing and wifi calling, along with regular calls, and maybe checking traffic every once in a while. I don't really use my phone for games or music.
oh, and I've never calibrated my battery or cleared the battery stats.

the battery is dieing quick because 1. needs colaberated, and 2, the iq agent KILLS that **** quick.
Either flash mine, or ravers rom which has it removed. More roms will be coming out that has it removed as well.
What files need to be removed to get rid of ciq? Also glad to see you're back on xda krylon.

Battery levels really jumpy

Hello, ever since flashing cm 10.2 on my phone, I've noticed that my battery was being drained extensively by Google services. A full wipe and re-flash later, it was fixed. Well, during those two flashes, my battery level has been erotic.
I can go 4 hours with normal drainage and then the phone casually reboots, and then says I have 9% or so remaining. It will "charge" itself to 13%, reboot again, and it the battery will report that it has around 20% or so, and drain normally.
The battery life has diminished a bit, but that could be because of age, and it barely lasts me 8 hours.
Does anyone know of any solution other than buying a new battery? Recalibrated has helped, but not by much.
As always, any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks,
magnetboard

in around a few crashes and drain wipe, the battery report can be way off
after a few cycles, it should normalize
if your drain persists, look to wifi drain, cpu regulators, wakelocks or rogue apps updates causing drains
Thanks, right now I have better battery stats to analyze wakelocks and apps and then I have greenify and system tuner to freeze Google services and apps. Hopefully this minimizes drain.

Stock battery charging time

I've the stock battery with CM10.2 installed with its kernel. My question is, is it normal to have the device fully charged in approximately 11 hours??

Absolutely not. There were times when I got a charge rate of about 1% per minute. On the statistics of the battery monitor widget it shows me 4h 44m, which is longer than I had in the past.
It also depends on what runs when you are connected to the battery. Having the screen on significantly reduces your charging rate, and also services running in the background. You can try "wake lock detector" to see what runs in the background.

As I said, try "wake lock detector". It will show you what's running in the background. Also, batteries get old and require more time to charge. Your charger could also play a role in this, too.

Anker 1900mAh battery is very popular and reliable.
Browse around eBay/Amazon. It's difficult to provide link because some selles won't ship to certain areas.

[Q] Looking for an app that does long term battery stats

For battery monitoring I'm using both Better Battery Stats and Wakelock Detector. I'm pretty happy with them, but stats never go back further than the last reboot.
Does anyone know of an app that will keep usage stats over a longer period of time? I'd like to see averages over the last week or month or so.
