I know this post must be posted in app discussion but i need quick answers.so sorry.
And guys please can you tell me if there is an app that can show mine current internet speed in a corner of screen ????
Actually it is in the right section.
Take a look at this app.
when you say internet speed, do you mean the speed at which you are connected to your router? (54mbps, 72mbps etc) or the actual speed you are able to download/upload at?

So my FUZE won't connect to the internet with certain programs (E.g. Internet Explorer). Everything else works fine, opera, mms, etc. When I go to IE, it immediately loads a popup and says "Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap settings". Any advice? My 3G speed is also terrible. I have an H icon and tested my speed and got 81kbps... Any advice on that?

I just noticed this same issue with Internet Explorer. I never see the H - only G and E(dge). I'm on the original ROM. The last registry change I did was to re-map the PTT button. Before that, IE was working and the only changes I did were the top two performance tweaks from the tweak thread here.

Same here. Absolutely horrendous speeds, usually it actually times out. I still have a Samsung BlackJack II and also a Moto V3XX and I have tested sitting right in the same location, put my SIM in each of those other two devices and go to the same websites, everything works just fine, fast and normal. Then I put my SIM back in the Fuze and it's so slow it's literally unusable.
Going to try going back to the store and getting a replacement but I am afraid this might be an issue with the ROM. But I don't want to flash to a cooked ROM in case ATT won't take it back.

Hi,
You can always undo what you flashed back to the stock roms/SPL.

Thanks much!
I noticed there are four different versions of the ATT ROM for this device. Since some people are having big data speed issues and some are happily working away, I wonder if some of the stock ROM versions have issues and others don't?

I'm not too sure because I haven't played with the stock ROM at all. I jumped on the cooked ROM band wagon and I am now using ROMeOS at the moment. Later, when I get a moment, I'll try out the Cooked ATT ROM that NATF has put together.
One of the major complains of the stock ATT ROM is that HSPDA was shut off and that only 3G was being used. I know when I get a decent H signal, the Internet is pretty snappy. This is on the ROMeOS ROM.

I had this problem. Navigate to Programs>Tools>Proxy Manager. Once there tap on "Restore Proxy" This did the trick for me.

How fast? My phone shows 3G and using Opera I got the following from DSL reports speed test:
1345 kbit/sec
0.32s latency
6.363s d/l time.again.
And that was after it forced me to do the 1MB download because it wasn't able to calculate the test at the lower file sizes.
Seems like I'm pretty much in line with other posters speeds who show the H, no?

Yup, that fixed my IE. Thanks!
And my Opera still works.
Must be an INI file or something for IE...
Right now I'm at home, so no 3G for me (Edge if I even get a signal at all usually) so I can't tell if it's (opera) slower.
Will this negatively impact tethering? Haven't tried it yet, but will soon.
I just did a bunch of testing between my Fuze and my Blackjack II for comparison. Others with the speed issues are in another thread, I posted a lengthy post with lots of test data in there. Please check it out and add to it what you can.

Where do you guys test your speed? The only DSL reports mobile speed test are up to 100k and that is too small. All the other tests I can find (anywhere) are either flash or java based and those applets never load on either Opera or IE.
I was able to get a toast blue angels test to run. Got 1809k WOOHOO. And IE works now, thanks!

Glad that did it for you. I've never tried tethering before so I'm not qualified to answer your question. Post your results when you test.

Hmm, maybe it's just me, but it really seems as if 3G speeds have been getting slower for me. I did the same test and got the same speeds as you (and occasionally, it has been falling to 500-600Kbps), but this really does seem slower than before.
One may say it's my imagination, but I have noticed it while watching Youtube. I use the HTC Youtube app and I always watch in high quality. Now I'm forced to watch in low quality simply because downloading high quality videos takes far too long (as long as 15-20 minutes depending on video length). Even the low quality videos takes quite a while to load.
To a smaller extent, web surfing has also slowed down noticeably. Unfortunately, I don't visit enough data-heavy website to be accurate about this.
I've performed numerous tests (different websites, ROMs, browsers, radios, etc), but it all turned out relatively the same. I was able to achieve higher speeds in some cases, but not significantly higher. Overall, though, it seems to me that there have been a large speed drop in AT&T's 3G.
I've tried multiple ROM's on my Fuze and they all seem to give me a high Tx rate of 54Mbps but a low Rx rate of only 1Mbps. Has anyone else seen this behavior or have any ideas why I'm seeing this? I thought that Raphael had full support for WiFi at "g" speeds. This happens irrespective of "power save mode" setting. My network wireless router is configured to support both "g" and "b" speeds so not sure what's happening.
Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure 54Mbps is the top end of "G" speeds, not sure what you're asking?
Receive rate is what he is talking about 1Mb is what I see with various roms and settings for the wifi power, too.
the device connect as g
and can recieve 54Mbit/sec
but the cpu cant keep up with the wifi interface
same deal with fast sd cards really
It's never above 1Mb rx.
Funny that the radio can keep up with 4Mb downloads over H though.
Yes, the 1Mbps is what I was concerned about. Still not sure I'm fully understanding why the connection speed is limited. If the cpu is too slow, then the network interface should be able to leverage flow control or even error correction in TCP/IP stack to prevent data overflow conditions.
Does anyone know if other similar hardware (Diamond, Quartz) has the same limitations? Maybe we can improve network connection speeds with a different driver?
Andrew
Yes i have noticed the 1mbps rx speed also. When i connect it shows 10mpbs rx for a moment and then it drops at 1mbps. Copying files over resco 2008 is around 30kb per second and that is too slow, maybe is there some registry hack for this?
I will agree that wifi speeds aren't even all that great. Maybe we need to turn data off? I'll run a test here in a bit.
I hopped on another network that is UNENCRYPTED. It bounces from 1-12Mbs RX, but they are a weak signal.
My stuff is encrypted, so maybe that is the difference?
They are also on ch 1, I use ch 10.
Encryption is pretty processor intensive unless you have a hardware accelerator. Unfortunately I do not believe that is an option.
I will say that the iphone on the same encryption settings does things fast over wifi here. Is there a comparison between the cpus?
I'll have to have my friend with the tilt connect and do a speed test.
Yes, I've noticed that the speed seems slow when on wi-fi too and that's why I started looking into this issue. My last phone was a Treo 750 so didn't have wi-fi and I really don't know how the Tilt performed in this area. Having said that removing encryption on my wireless network is simply not an option . . .
Andrew
I agree, I would not recommend disabling encryption. You could disable it temporarily for a quick test to see if it makes a big difference. If it does, then you could try another type of encryption.
i've got tp wwe rom and same issue. wi-fi has speed problems. try streaming some xvid, it can't keep it up
I can't believe more ppl aren't kicking and screaming about this issue. I have the same issue, my RX is almost always 1mb. Also you can barely stream video or even complete a VoIP call over wifi. Doesn't make sense that it would be faster over 3G than over wifi..what gives?

Hi please move if wrong section thanks
Is there any apps that can limit bandwith usage of connected users to my wifi
Example i have 20mb net speed and 3 have connected my wifi and i want to limiy them from accessing 20mb of my speed and just give them 1-5
Mb speed
Sorry for my bad english i hope u guys get what im talking
Using my phone only
Can i bump?
Hmm i think there is no such app ?
hello I have been studying this issue for about a couple of weeks & still can't find no answer to this. The speed test on my phone you can see is pretty fast, BUT when I use T-Mobile hotspot tether why is it slower then back in the AOL dail up days 56K. I don't know what can I do that can at least give my hotspot tether a minimum of 2Mbps. Can anybody help me out with this issue appreviate it.
There are a lot of different things that could cause this. First of all you need to know that every provider recognize when you are doing a speedtest and they give the maximum that is available only for good test results. That doesnt mean that you could access the internet with that speed. Second, the speed of the wifi connection between your phone and pc could be very bad espacialy when you place your phone very close to the pc, for a good wifi connection it should be minimum 1m distance. And there are a lot of other things that could impact the speed like apps using internet on your phone or background updates on pc or a hundred other things. Nobody can tell you for sure whats causing this, you just can play around with it for a while place it on different postitions or deactivate apps and so on and so on...

Thanks for the food for thought. Correct me if im wrong the speeds that you do in speedtest results are the physical speed you would be using from your phone internet right or it would be a very lengthy lag when streaming videos & downloading apps. At 22 mbps a app that is 21mb would download just about soon as you click it. Sohow would these speedtest results not be the physical testing usage. I thought it was other 3rd party apps to bypass the throttling. I am gonna see if I can fumble somewhere in the internal advance settings. Cause its something Tmobile have if i purchase the unlimjted tether i heard i get the full bandwidth speed & thats the goal I do want to work on to achieve.
Hey Guys.
I got my pixel yesterday and it was already running the latest Android 11. I installed the October patch too.
The issue I am facing is, the wifi download speeds are poor.
For example speeds I see on speedtest dot net app :
On a 2.4ghz network
Download : ~20Mbps
Upload : ~60Mbps
On a 5ghz network
Download : ~25Mbps
Upload : ~100Mbps
I can confirm this is not an issue with my wifi because no other phones at home ( iphone SE and a samsung S10) face this issue. I get download speeds of 70 and 180Mbps on a 2.4ghz and 5ghz respectively
Rebooted router.
Rebooted pixel.
Restored pixel to factory defaults.
Tried with/without phone case.
I still have poor download speeds on pixel 4a.
Any suggestions or if anyone else facing the same issue?
The issue was with speedtest app. Downloaded other apps that show speeds correctly.

i typed speedtest dot net app into google and got the ookla one. i waded past pages of requests for location sharing and the like and eventually found the speed test page. I got 43.1/19.7 down/up on 2.4ghz, and 45.9/19.8 for 5ghz. no idea how you're getting such a fast upload speed! i guess that depends on your internet connection though. i'm on infinity 2 fibre in the uk which is 67Mbps max (up/down) if i remember correctly.

Interesting. Which app are you happy with? I'd like to try that to compare!
Yes, the speed wasn't reporting correctly on ookla's speed test app.
I tried another app called speedtest master lite.
This shows me same speeds as other devices.
I'm glad it was an issue with the app itself.
I use a 200Mbps fiber broadband.

Well....I'm glad you're happy but that app gives me repeated 15mbps download times; a third of what I'm seeing with the other app. And no way of choosing which server to use. I'm never sure how much to trust these apps. The only proper test would be to download something from a fast server; well seeded torrent site etc.
My choice is fast.com (Netflix property). Click through for additional details after the initial read. Useful and widely available.
This assumes you are using a reputable browser that itself is not a bottleneck or otherwise compromised.
I eschew speed test apps (including Ookla variants as most are advertising cesspools. Why mess with another app. ugh.
I'm not having speed issues.
No problems here . . please check the screen shot.
