I got a sim-locked phone.
On the one hand I want to be able to - at least temporarily - use it on another network.
But I was told by my provider that once I unlock the phone (which I am allowed to), I would loose my warranty.
So: Can I re-enabled a sim-lock (without anyone noticing it was temporarily enabled)?
Since it appears that the sim-lock status is not bound to the ROM just flashing a stock rom will
not enable the sim-lock again.
How can I enable it after it was enabled?
I have a Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 and was thinking of using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2014982
I figure I put this in the general section since this is still a general question that should be able to be answered applying to all (or at least most) android phones.
Thanx!
I have done it to my wifes GS3
I used the same thread to unlock then reversed it and relocked the sim. I don't believe there is a way anyone could tell it had been toggled off and back on. It is a service menu on the Samsung device.

Hi there!
I just bought a SE Xperia x8. It was Locked to 3 uk.
I used a unlock online service to unlock it. Did everything right as it was in the unlocking manual. But in the end of the process the software Multi unlocking client frozed. The know the mobile doessn't recognize any sim card.
In the hiden menu the X on the network lock is not there anymore as it was unlocked.
And when I try to connect to a network the message I get is "Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network"
I rooted it changed roms and the problem persists
Can anyone help me?
The Online unlocking service wants me to by more credits and try again....
Have the same problem... any fix for this?
I just opened my own thread for exactly the same thing last night - did either of you have any luck getting this fixed?
Oh God, I remember MultiUnlocker from my Palm Pre days. What a horrid piece of software it is.
I'd recommend contacting their support division and outlining your problem. I was able to gain the necessary three credits to unlock my phone (stupid bloody thing took that many goes).
It may prove problematic that your phone is kinda 'in limbo' ie. showing unlocked but not. You should be able to input a code from the emergency dialler giving you access to the engineering menu, which will allow you to re-lock your phone, then the code should work.
I'll subscribe to the thread in case you need further advice!
I updated my Nexus S (i9020T) to ICS using the instructions at AndroidCentral ("How to manually update your GSM Nexus S to Ice Cream Sandwich"), but now I have no mobile service. I'm using an AT&T SIM card, but that was never a problem with Gingerbread (I just didn't use 3G).
I did notice that, under Settings > Security > Set up SIM card lock , the "Lock SIM card" checkbox is checked, even though my SIM is not locked (I used it on another phone just fine). When I try to un-check it, it asks for my SIM PIN. Nothing I have entered has worked. It always says "Can't change SIM card lock state. Possibly incorrect PIN."
Also, I've read a few things about users having to load another radio, but nothing for my specific situation, so I didn't want to risk breaking anything.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
EDIT: Or at least revert to Gingerbread?
Have you tried putting the sim card into another phone and maybe disable sim lock (pin code) there ? (like an old phone, a friends phone, or that of your wife/parent/child/sibling)
@geronimo789: Yes, I put it into another phone, and SIM lock is disabled. So I enabled it (on the other phone), and my results from the Nexus still didn't change. I still couldn't change the settings, and I still have no mobile service.
Okay, I found this thread for going back to GB. I'll try that if I absolutely need to.
At the bootloader ("Fastboot Mode"), I just noticed that my Nexus S says "Baseband Version - I9020XXXXX" Is that normal?
Long story short - my network are playing silly buggers and will not give me the network unlock key for my Xperia XZ Premium. I've tried a third party site also and they had no joy securing it.
All this is making me consider trying to flash/ re-image my handset to remove the network lock. I'm technically very strong (Software/Computer Engineering) but this is my first journey into flashing software onto the XZ premium so need some basic advise to get started. Checking settings suggest that the bootloader cannot be unlocked on my handset and it's not currently rooted.
Some very basic questions to start with :
- Will what I am proposing to do even work? i.e remove the network SIM lock by flashing an appropriate image onto my handset?
- Is it a prerequisite that the handset is rooted and/or bootloader is unlocked before I can proceed with this?
- I read in a few messages about risk of loosing DRM keys / Green Camera issues. etc. What precautions needs to be taken to avoid this?
- Anything else I should consider before proceeding?
Any guidance greatly appreciated.:good:
So I just ordered a Pixel 3a today and it's the T-mobile locked version. Now I think I might have messed up because I just read that the T-mobile version cannot be bootloader unlocked or even flash factory images (or beta?). This honestly didn't even cross my mind because I thought Pixel devices were always fully open and is a main reason why I wanted it.
My question is if there is anyway to bypass this restriction and run the Google factory image? When I got a T-mobile OnePlus 6T there was a tool that allowed me to flash the factory image and then enable bootloader unlocking. I've been searching online but finding conflicting information that is outdated from a year ago.
Edit: What happens if you adb sideload an image with the bootloader locked as described here? https://developers.google.com/android/ota
My pixel 3a is the T-Mobile version. I was able to unlock the bootloader with zero issues. What seems to be the hangup on your end? I've talked to a few people who have had similar issues, and they stated that OEM unlocking was unavailable in the developer options menu. Is this where youre getting stuck? Or does the problem occur in fastboot when you actually attempt the unlock?
If the issue lies in the developer options menu, there's a workaround that I'll have to find for you. But i *think* what is happening is when you do a factory reset, it installs the generic image -- but as soon as it boots up, the Tmobile Sim causes carrier specific settings/software to be overlayed and effectively blocking the "OEM unlock" setting from being toggled. Without researching it, I believe the solution to your problem is to remove the sim card, then do a factory reset. Boot it up, go through the setup without the SIM physically installed. This should theoretically keep the the option to enable OEM locking available to be turned on.
I bought mine through T-Mobile, used it for 3 months and then asked to have it sim unlocked, which they did. At that point, I installed the verizon Sim card, did a factory reset, and the option to unlock the bootloader became available. So the method I laid out above, should work for you. If not, I'll actually dig around and get ya set up.
Let me know how it turns out, k?
Hello all,
I know already that this might not be possible but I have to ask anyways. My father recently passed away unexpectedly and he has just recently bought a galaxy flip 4 (before he had a galaxy S21).
Now he still has some photos on there he recently took (Google backup is off).
I already tried unlocking the phone via Samsung find my phone but I always get the message, that the function is not enabled in the phone.
Same goes for the S21 which I also can not unlock.
The time between unlocks is already at 48h because I've tried all the numbers I could find around the house.
Is there a possibility of either:
1. Unlock the device by rooting or patching a file in recovery mode or someway else?
2. Is it possible to enable the unlock function for find my phone somehow?
3. Is it possible to reset the counter for failed unlock attempts? Because I have the feeling it has no upper limit and will just double in time forever... I may find the correct pin eventually but I need more tries.
If any of the above is possible for the S21 then this would work too because he just switched phone 2 days before he passed and the files are still pretty much identical.
If you can help and need proof of possession or anything from me to proof that this is indeed the phone of my dad please write me a pn.
I would really love to have the last pictures taken ...
I'm so sorry about your loss. I have great news! I've recently had to bypass the FRP Google lock and after many hours of research, I was able to finally find a reliable program that was free and free of viruses. I can confirm it works on the Flip4 because that's the phone I used it on. https://samfw.com/blog/samfw-frp-tool-1-0-remove-samsung-frp-one-click

Thanks a lot, I will give it a try!
@melymoon
I've tried this tool but I can't get into the engineering mods by entering the code into the emergency call pad.
Therefore the tool doesn't detect my phone.
It is also not recognized if I go to ADB update in the recovery menu.
How did you do it?
I got you, do you have time right now? I can work on it with you before my kid wakes up
You don't need the engineering service menu right right now, to remove the lock. I'll walk you through it.
I have a z flip 4 5g and I'm locked out of it and I cannot factory reset it and I do not have on USB debugging. Is there a way to enable USB debugging on locked z flip 4?
Can't you just factory reset it in the recovery menu?
I thought the whole idea of this post was to save the data? Everything mentioned here pretty much is gonna wipe the phone. Which leads to all that's trying to be done is bypass factory reset protection. If you have death certificate you can get Google and samsung to release the locks accordingly and it can be factory reset from the recovery menu.
From there. Frp bypass is a very gray area on xda and most people will not help.
