Howdy everyone!
Remember I was working on a secret project?
Yeah I am here with it
Using the mediatek source tree I have compiled complete ROM from source. That tree was so so dirty that there were more than 200 of faults there. After continuous work of 15 days I have finally obtained system.img.
But this needs testing and there is still lots of work remaining. Lots of binaries are still missing including the MTK RIL. This is just an initial step and development here will continue until the testing is done by you all. If you stop I will stop as well!
Only Advanced people who can recover from soft bricks are recommended to flash this! This is based upon Android 4.0
Future benefits if this succeeds: Each and every feature from CyanogenMOD, AOKP, PAC-Man, Paranoid Android, MIUI will be possible to be integrated
Download: system.img
You need to first revert back to ICS and then flash this.
Instructions: Flash it via SP Flash Tool
I need logcats and dmesg, whether it boots or doesn't. Without them I cannot do anything!

Willing tester here. Please link a noob tutorial for getting logcats in the first page and I will be off. Not scared of soft bricks at all. I've actually got mine into a lot of these while testing things in the Android Development page. I am also already in ICS so, yeah.

Welcome in the official thread of the project. This post is made to let discover you why this project is born. We are two universitary students that want more about a new branch of th IT Area, the Embedded OS Porting. We have a particular device, the HUAWEI IDEOS U8150, so our port is in this direction.
So don't ask to us why we are porting this version of Android with this device, because this project starts for educate ourself to the porting of Android OS, in particular we are oriented to port CyanogenMod ver 9. We made research to define a good porting for this device, so all the support ,moral, technical and economic(we need more RAM and CPU frequency) is really appreciated. We are also thinking to port, after this ROM Porting, the MIUI v4.
We work to create a stable ROM that could enjoy all great people that have this device. We think that newest releases of Android could run on this kind of mid-low level devices, so we make all the possible to complete this work.

We have completed the building or new version of CyanogenMod that implements ICS 4.0.4. The new release improve the previous functionalities and some new fix like the RED BOX Fix and a new CODENAME. Unfortunately my friend sebaker is not here so if anyone of you want test rom can do it and write old/new bugs in this post

cm pk is not present where? Beta 1? Yes there wont be thats why i'm asking yout o not to download beta 1 , wait for beta 1.1 already 17% uploaded (but who knows there can be upload failures , yesterday i faced upto 7 upload failures)

yes the boot animation will be creeds, but only that(this time there no chance for getting into creeds rom)
I'm stuck at the SGY GT-S5360 boot screen. Still waiting though.
was using Hybrid 4, installed via cwm it says installation complete... but after reboot its still Hybrid... now flashed using stock recovery, stuck at boot logo... wating..

i think there is something wrong in the installation script or whatsoever, im no developer but i noticed that the CM9 he ported is not sticking with the phone. It does not replace your current ROM even though it says success in installation.

if this is the case , there must be some issues in permissions and update scripts , as i said i dont have a galaxy y,i will need to sort out each issues with each update for you , but next time , i will try to provide you with update package.thanks for giving the info

Adding sample Updater Script and working Update binary file. Would be useful for other ROM developers.
Adding base ROM
Steps:
NOTE: Take a complete backup using CWM ( might be useful in case you want to revert back to the previous state) .
1) Download @ http://d-h.st/cfq and copy to your SD card Also download Wifi Patch Refer post 4 below.
2) flash the IndiAndroidvx_x.zip file using CWM... use the install zip from SD card, locate the IndiAndroidvx.x.zip file and choose yes to flash it.
Also flash the wifi_update.zip in the same way.
3) Clear Cache and Dalvik Cache
4) Reboot your phone
Future Additions will be done as update.zip patches so the file sizes can be small

i have used it for two days without any issues let me know if you face any..
am testing some of the init.d and build.prop tweaks.. if they work, will provide the patch for the same

Hello, to keep track of all the kernel development I have created this thread.
I will be using it to get my builds tested.

So, the kernel that i built also has the same problem - unresponsive.
So, here is what i recently thought and implemented.
Download: here
Download this zip and flash it through CWM or TWRP recovery. (unsigned zip)
What it contains:
Modified boot.img
My custom script - rc.insm4u , which will be placed in /system/bin/m4u/ folder.
Flashing the zip will do the placing and will set the permissions.
What i did:
Comparing the dmesg that i collected for my kernel and the one that people gave for Varun's kernel, I came to know that the file m4u.ko and vcodec_kernel_driver.ko failed to get initialized into the running kernel.
So, i just modified the init.rc to make it run a custom script at boot. The script contains the commands to initialize the modules into the kernel.
I believe it should work now..........if the error still exists, give a new logcat / dmesg..........
By this way we will be able to bye-pass the failed loading of the two modules.
If this works, it can be taken as a temporary / permanent fix to move on to other other problems - in case some exist.
Before i could try this mod, the phone went away from me (for 2 more days), although I tested my original build and it booted...........
Testers try this and reply !

You cannot bypass the module loading because the kernel is having missing symbols(registers)
I got the vcodec driver loaded by creating dummy symbols inside the kernel.
Will continue my work tomorrow for m4u.
What your script contains btw?

oh...ic..........i thought it would work bcoz while other modules loaded normally, and this script can just emulate the loading again, which can result in a successful insmod.
Still dunno whether this script can make it work...........if else, your method should be the key.

Others get loaded because their symbols match with the kernel. Insmoding ofcourse wont work since init does the same.
The vcodec/m4u sources are available here:
F*ck, need 10 posts to post outside links...
Search for "huawei mediatek" on github.. Then go to mediatek/source/kernel/drivers
Recompile those module, push them on your device.. Then you should be ready to have fun !
If it don't work, 2things to check.
1st -> if the header on the kernel side correspond to the driver source..
OR/AND
2nd -> we should use kdb to find which function cause thoses troubles..

For who are searching for GPU sources.. go to the same repo, mediatek/platform/mt6577/kernel/drivers/gpu
@varun.chitre15.. Did you see the 3.8kernel changelog ? FSF should be very interresting for mt6577 custom rom/kernel.. I think the nand used by s9081 is manufactured by samsung... But not sure, anybody have some informations about that ?

Yep saw it.
Also I can see mediatek has become less stringent on its closed source strategy
No idea about the nand as no device with me to dug into proc
Though I will try to find it in sources

I haven't fixed anything but reverted all the patches I made. Just to know I didn't miss anything

I buddy im so excited, and wanna be part of the testing process...
As this thread is meant for testing, would please post brief instructions on how to test your kernal in the initial post itself, it would get more attention and your work will be easier...
Please keep the tutorial simple, so that number of testers will increase, please provide steps from flashing the kernal to getting the dmesg...
As if i know how to, here in my company i have fast internet, and i have so much of time, and i will be able to test everything instantaneously...

I am on stock ics rom v2...
flashed the kernalflasher and did the reboot... it stuck at boot loop
here is what i did...
kept the kernalflasher.zip and the boot.img in the external sd's root directory...
went to cwm
flashed kernalflasher.zip
did reboot...
Resut: stuck at initial screen i mean i may need to call it as logo, that micromax superfone canvas 2 logo repeats again and again...

u need to replace new boot.img from kernelflasher.zip boot.img dont extract zip just replace boot.img with new one and flash it with any recovery

Everything works fine. But I can't able to move apps to SD card. Its giving pop up saying this ROM does not have app2sd feature or its broken..I redownload ROM and flashed to confirm the zip is not corrupted. But still same problem...

@Nikhil Major/Critical bugs:
the move to sd / phone option were missing from application tab
also all the apps no permission to installed to the sd card
this may due to the mounting points and you did not adding the 4.4 kiktat sd hot fix
just you have modified the permission.xml in system/etc/permission
Minor:
carbon rom can not in-place upgrade from omni 4.4 it
the theme choose will fc
2systemui will not started when in-place upgrade from omni4.4
(statues bar, nodification center,quick setting scroll down etc.)
what I could found the bug were above(majority sD card permission)
if you have time please fix it asap

hi all, great job ... will fix the camera, as it does not go to video mode and does not move.
Thanks for the very nice ROM. I love the ROM but Google play services and Clock crashes all the time! Can we expect a fix for these or am I missing something?
Did u clean install this ROM or you flashed over any previous .4.4 ROM ?if its not clean install. Try to wipe cache n dalvik from recovery also wipe cache and data for those app that you have issue with.. Which g-apps you use?
