Hi guys, Its been long a while I became a Recognized Themer...Now its time to share my little knowledge with all guys here so that you can also begin something...
What is required:
1. A good pair of eyes which can guess good colour styles.
2. A brain[Most important]
3. Photoshop or GIMP [This is the most important...PS is more advanced and good to use for any level but for beginning you can use GIMP...I used that only in beginning]
4. Bases and PS goodies to start with...Get them here [First get 592 icon bases so that You can go ahead...Then get all the videos there in case you need reference]
BASICS
» So what are icons???
» Attractive images you see on your phone for various apps....
So, They can be made in graphic manipulation softwares like PS, GIMP etc...Offcourse it depends on your needs because PS costs you while GIMP is free to use whatever time you want...
FROM WHERE I SHOULD BEGIN?
» The answer is study the videos given by me well...They can solely guide you till your destination...Then this thread is for discussing your ideas and we can wor it out greatly...
WHAT ARE SIZES PREFERRED?
» You know there resolutions like LDPI, MDPI, HDPI etc...So there sizes of icons are:
XHDPI - 96x96/144x144
HDPI - 128x128
MDPI - 48x48
LDPI - 36x36
You can use HDPI+ resoultion icons on lower ones BUT cant do vice versa because It causes excessive stretching and they look bad...
Getting started with PS
Here is main panel guide for Photoshop [Mine is CS6 version but its almost same in every PS version]

}
RED - Tools panel: It contains all shape, paint, gradient, select and erase tools...
BLUE - Sub options of the selected tool i.e. if you select TEXT tool then it will show font and size etc...
VIOLET - Main canvas where you will be doing your works...
BROWN - Styles lay here which you will give to your Backgrounds and icons...
PINK - The layers panel where you can manage layers...
REAL ICON MAKING STARTS HERE
Ok guys once you have done getting PS and other goodies,
Open up PS.
Click on File>> New and set size as 512x512 [A standard size which is always used by me for making a good resolution...This enhances effects we give and obviously when we tone down size it looks more beautiful]
So once done with this set Background to transparent...It will make the excessive space transparent to suit our desktop...
You can add any SHAPE and SIZES...Here for demo I am showing this -
1. Selecting shape :
Here I chose circle...So right click on shapes and you will get options to select your desired shape
So chose Ellipse tool here.
2. Adding Just border to circle:
So after adding ellipse make its size 490x490.
Above you can see stroke and fill options...Set no fill and select proper width of stroke/border...
3. Then you can give it any favourite effect...Here I'm giving TRON effect
4. Adding a Background to circle:
Press Control+Shift+N to create a new layer. Add again a ellipse little smaller than previous i.e. 485x485...
Fill it with matching colour. Then you have something like this -
5. Now take a close look at layers panel at right-bottom corner...There you have two layers...
Drag the topmost layer to bottom...So we will have a BG and a border up on that layer which will look tempting.
6. Now save the Style in form of PSD [Photoshop Document].
It can be opened again at any time and re-modded by you or anyone who wants...:good:
7. Now minimize PS and open the folder where you have put the base PSD from my link.
Drag one from them onto your ready background in PS. Then you can manage their shape as they open in edit mode. You can resize them and align them to centre by Pressing Select option on topbar...Then select all and select first tool on left side...You can adjust the way you want.then add them effects from right panel..
8. Resizing the done icon to desired size:
Go to Image on top bar and select image size option...select size 144x144 a very standard resolution which works on every screen resolution...
Then go to file>> save as>> save it with your name and don't forget to change the format to ".png"
9. Done now...You are really done
It takes so much time to arrange the stuff and type so much so if you find atleast helpful then let me know and please post your doubts, works and everything here...will update more day by day to give you everything I have...
Press THANKS to show your appreciation as it encourages me to work more...

On 26/5 I updated every theme with some settings adjustmens (the most noticeble is a little increase of the indented area and so a more WP7 proportioned icon grid) and added few wallpapers inside icons folder.
Since I've seen only fully black backgrounds in all WP7 UI (really boring) , I put a themed wallpaper as default background, but you can easily switch to another one of your choice or to a solid color.

INSTALLATION1 - Install a WM metro skin
2 - Install iPhoneToday
3 - Copy contents of attached "WP7 Theme" folder into iPhoneToday program folder - black, red and GTX theme here
4 - Restart Iphonetoday
NOTES- Added clean screen (last picture)
- to switch to a solid color background go to options->wallpaper-> delete the selected wallpaper name and leave the selection blank, then select a color from the bottom selector.
- Check out iPhoneToday thread for more commands to associate with icons (e.g. start menu,custom rotation angle, soft reset, open a specific email account... ecc.)
- If you install iPT as "today plugin", you can use nueNoBar to hide bottom bar , I quickly tested on WM6.5.5 and works, but can't say about battery draining, I prefer to have a metro bottom bar
- I suggest to use uTask to make this UI smarter
Please attach here your own icons sets
I add here a new version of icons.xml , works for all theme colors.
Now if iPhoneToday is srcolled, leads to clean screen (to appreciate your wallpapers) with only visible time,date,notifications.
In fact are icons, without images, and if pressed nothing happens, (to delete notification you have to scroll up and use a visible icon).
If you want to have this without overwrite your own icons.xml edit iPT settings and add icons as in last picture example.
Great job, very well !
Metro skins
These WM 6.5.x skins are based on Sir sternas work
More green theme
edited 2 icons, if someone doesn't like the red versions on green theme.
more skins
a standard WP7 skin by nickschot ,a blue dark based on jeffrey2000 ipad skin and a green dark from kenchan2009
new colors: black, red and GTX
for interested user here's a weather tile option.
I did not test and include into the theme cause it requires to install some apps and set it, try it.

Thanks a MILLI,OOO,OOON for this !! I love it soo Much!
I have a few questions i need your help with:
1. The scrolling is very FAST! How do I slow the scrolling down similar to the default wm scroll speed?
2. I cannot access the touch-input keyboard. Everytime I change it from the settings, it changes back to the swype keyboard. How can I fix this issue? (because I prefer using the touch-input)
3. Is it possible to make the icons smaller on the mainscreens?
Again, THANKS A LOT for this ,, I love it!

Hi,thanks for appreciation
1- I don't know the windows default scrolling values, on my hd2 iPhoneToday scrolls fast but very responsive and sensitive, maybe wait to see if you get used to it, or just play around with settings->movement values.
If you don't find a combination of your taste , I suggest you to reinstall iPhoneToday and take note of default movement values, then install the theme and manually restore default movement values.
2- I don't have swype, for this issue ask into the iPhoneToday or swype thread.
3- you can edit them into settings->screen->icon width, but after reducing their size you'll have to change also the settings->screen->Offsetts->R value (increasing the indented area) or settings->screen->Text Settings->text height (to increase the vertical spacing between icons) .. this in order to maintain a regular icon grid.
But then you'll get far from the WP7 proportion
I use RapidRead to read xda forums, so I made these icons

Enjoy 30 new wallpapers for your Transformer. They are all at 1920x1280 and allow for a little room to crop so you can get them displayed exactly how you want them. Widen the crop box as big as it will go for the best resolution once the image is set.
These are just images that caught my eye and look great on the Transformer. I hope you enjoy.

Edit: Rewrite
I'll be re uploading a whole new wallpaper pack with the correct resolutions tomorrow. For now here's what you can do.
Download HD Wallpaper Pack 2
Unzip to your download folder,
Go to market and download "Wallpaper Wizardrii"
Install and reboot
When it comes back up all of the wallpapers should now be visible in the gallery. Choose the picture you want and click on the share button in the top right. Wallpaper Wizardrii should now be a choice. Select it.
From there just click on set and set it to scrolling and it'll adjust the images in the wallpaper pack above accordingly.
Let's get them all gathered up in one spot

Wallpaper(s) Only Thread!!!!!!
I made this wallpaper for myself since I got bored of the ones that came with the tablet already. Nothing spectacular, but I thought since I made it, may as well share it. The jpg version is just a preview by the way. Full size version is in the zip.
Hey guys, I'm putting together a website dedicated to mobile wallpapers for various devices that I own.
After searching the internet for a good site, I have yet to find one that meets certain criteria and almost all of them have wallpapers that don't quite live up to expectations:
-them being too big
-them being too small
-them not being quite the right size to accommodate Android's strange "crop" window you receive after selecting a picture you want to use.
I'm aiming to fix that by having wallpapers designed with Android in mind to not only accommodate the crop window, but also allow you to select and use the entire picture.
I'm still in the process of getting everything running smooth, and there's still some performance tweaks, theme settings, and configuration settings that need to be addressed but eventually I'll get there. I also hope to have a mobile version running soon, so that you can access from any Android device.
This site will also allow guests/registered users to upload their own wallpapers and will automatically resize them according to what album you upload them to.
Anyway, check out the sneak peak here: http://www.freeza-inc.com/walls
Copies of my Bee paper.
I have optimised the one with the blue glow bar for Launcher pro plus so that it sits at the top as a dock background, this will not scale properly with the default home/launcher so I have included a couple without it with the bee top, middle and bottom.
If anyone would like the original photoshop .psd file I will look for it and post it - you could then change the text below the bee to read whatever you like.
Still working on the bee skin for launcher pro plus - will post the apk for skinning when finished.
Must put the damn tablet down - getting a condition known as 'Tablet thumbs' I think.

Hello, xda community!
I recently published on Android Market RLW Live Wallpaper Free, a high tech wallpaper with one unique feature: it's the first Live Wallpaper with Third-Party themes support, just like ADW Launcher, Go Launcher Ex or AudioManager Pro.
Here's some images:
{

}
Actually RLW is doing pretty fine on Android Market (4000+ downloads in a few days) but it can grow even better with *more themes*!
You can find the THEME TEMPLATE in the attachment below!
Development of RLW Themes is really simple!
During development you can set:
1- Circle images
2- Background images
3- Images scaling
4- Background Scaling
It's all in the README - HOWTO file contained in the Template, here's a copy of it:
-- RLW Theme Development Howto --
Creating a theme for RLW is really simple, you just have to follow the instructions below.
The folder included is a Template, it's an Eclipse Project.
1) EDIT PACKAGE NAME:
Your theme package name needs to be "com.rlw.theme.yourthemename" (without quotes, substitute yourthemename with your theme name). This way the theme can be found on Android Market by RLW.
2) IMAGES:
You have to put images in res/drawable, drawable-hdpi, drawable-mdpi, drawable-ldpi folders, in ALL of them.
The circles images size is 512x512 px. However you can use 256x256 images in drawable-mdpi and drawable-ldpi folders: remember that doing so will result in low quality images for mdpi and ldpi devices, so using 512x512 images is strongly recommended. USE ALWAYS POWER OF 2 SIZES (128x128, 256x256, 512x512...).
There are 7 circles images (circle0, circle1,..circle6). You need to include all 7 images, if you want you can leave transparent the circles images you don't want to be displayed.
The circles images MUST be PNG-24 with transparent background.
The background image (background) correct size is 1024x1024. You can use both JPG and PNG. You MUST include a background image, even if you don't want to use it: in this case, you can provide a small, transparent image, this way it will not impact your theme weight. The background image must not contain transparencies.
3) CONFIGURE THEME SETTINGS:
Theme settings are included in res/values/theme_settings.xml file.
Here's a brief description of the fields:
* app_name = Name of the app, to be displayed in Android Task Manager
* theme_name = Name of the theme, will be displayed in Rotating Wallpaper theme chooser dialog. Please don't insert "Rotating Wallpaper Theme" words in this field. Use short names.
* RGB_R, RGB_G, RGB_B = these are the values of Background Color, which will be displayed if you set use_background_image=0; The color form is RGB (0-255, 0-255, 0-255). For instance, let's say you want to set RED as background color: the RGB form for red is (255,0,0), so you will set RGB_R=255, RGB_G=0, RGB_B=0.
*use_background_image = set it to 1 if you want to use the background image, else set it to 0. If 0, Background Color will be used instead.
*size_background_image = if you use a 1024x1024 background image, you should leave this untouched. If you use a smaller or a bigger image, use this field to edit background image scale. Keep in mind that for landscape mode, the size of the background image is automatically increased by 0.8f. Use float values (for example 1f, 0.8f, 5f), remember the final "f" which indicates float!!!!
*scale_modifiers_circles = this is a stringarray containing 7 modifiers for circles sizes. If you need a different scaled circle, you can add a modifier. Use float values (for example 1f, 0.8f, 5f), remember the final "f" which indicates float!!!!
Note: The theme contains an empty Activity. You can use it at your pleasure to sponsorize your other apps!

Heh. By this template I can create themes for RLW app thats the answer
Pandik.
Develop
Hallo. I created some RLW templates for "Pro" version of Your livewallpaper and have some sugestions how to inprove Your product:
1- insert possibility to set default number of circles and rotation speed by edit theme_settings.xml
its rly important coz will help to create more interesing themes (with static objects) and final user (with pro version) will get full product without any enterings in settings and manage circle rotations. Belive me, ppl dont wanna to manage to much, if I show them movie with my RLW theme they wanna to get same effect just by instal theme, nothing more.
2- i think that png transparency isnt supported for 100% coz all gradients or objects with alpha chanell are displayed as plain grey, with transparency but with no defined color.
Look for answer from You mate.
cheers
Pandik.
Hi All, i made a terminal emulator which acts as a live wallpaper. Check below for more details:
Fully customizable terminal live wallpaper.
Terminal Live Wallpaper allows you to show useful information with style. It acts as a command line tool ( terminal ) and can execute and display almost any command supported by Android.
Number of commands is not limited, terminal live wallpaper will circle through all of them and display their results. Also it will simulate manual human command input. Use settings screen to change commands, text font, color, size, background color, background image and many more. All options can be combined in a infinite way.
Unleash your inner geek!
- Demo commands for both rooted and not rooted devices
- Switch between commands with screen tap
- Change text font, color and size
- 12 cool fonts
- World Wrap
- Set background color with transparency
- 8 included image backgrounds
- Option to set any image from device as background
- Set top offset
- Light weight and battery saver
- Supports all screen sizes and orientations
I encourage you to investigate it and try different combinations and parameters. :good:
NOTES:
- When selecting a color, click on circle to confirm
- Use transparency with background color to set color filters on image backgrounds
- Please be careful with commands, specially if you have root access. I am not responsible for damage which could be caused by inappropriate use.
Download it from Google Play. Just type "Terminal Live Wallpaper [Sorry cant post links yet, because im a boon]
or use this link: play_google_com/store/apps/details?id=com.atridhr.terminalwallpaper [replace _ with . ]
Let me know what you think of it.

I really like this live wallpaper, thanks for sharing.
When I doing some changes in the settings, the app sometime FC.
If you make resizable custom background image it will be perfect, because actually when the custom image not exactly fit on the screen I got black line in the top and bottom.

Hi l3s,
thx for your reply and report.
Wallpaper is made to center all custom images, but im not sure what happened in your case. Nexus 7 is a special case because its high dpi (not many device have 320dpi), anyway i will try to fix this with new update.
Until then, you can try using bigger image, or try to crop that one to 1280x800 resolution.
Hi, i will periodically share some new ideas and screens about different ways to use this live wallpaper, so here's one:
CLOCK MODE
Set font to Android Nation
Set font size to 100 (adjust to screen resolution)
Set Input command "date" (only this command)
Set Word Wrap to true
Set font color, custom image and color filter (optional)
See attachment to check what i got
As i have said before, ill keep posting some "interesting" ways how i use Terminal Live Wallpaper, so heres an update:
Alien mode
1. Set odd looking font, like Alpha Sentury
2. Font size ~140 (more or less)
3. Word wrap true
4. Custom background
5. Set background color filter to black with small transparency (this makes a darker image background)
6. Set font color to gray
7. Put many input commands
Check attachment to see what i got.
Awesome
DISCLAIMER: This guide involves the use of a paid app!!!
In this guide I will attempt to teach you how to make your own transparent pull down background without the use of a computer. It is very simple and once you get the hang of it, it only takes a few minutes to do.
Things you will need
Photoshop touch for phones
transparent base (linked at the bottom of this guide)
pic you want transparent
That's it
First you will need to download the app "Photoshop touch for phones" (from here on out known as PS Touch), it is a paid app on the playstore and is well worth the money, the only thing that limits this app is your imagination! Then you'll need to download the transparent base linked at the bottom of this guide. Once you have your picture and everything else you need you're ready to start editing!
Open the app PS Touch, if the picture you have isn't sized correctly or you want to touch it up and make it your own you'll want to edit that first, press new project and then choose photo library. This will open up your gallery, choose the photo you want to edit/resize from there. To resize you'll click the & icon at the top and choose resize, you want the size at 720x1280 (when the resizer pops up hit the link so the numbers aren't linked together so you can get the correct dimensions)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
now you can edit the pic as you please. And then press done and then save. Once you press done it will bring you to this page, you will need to save it again from here so it shows up on your gallery (the first time you saved it only saved it to your projects). To save again press the box with the arrow, then select your pic. Save as PNG
after you save it and confirm it shows up in your gallery you can delete it from your projects, or not, your choice
Now is when that transparent base comes into play, start a new project again, selecting photo library again. Now find where you put your transparent base (I put mine in a folder named transparent base to make it easier to find since it doesn't really show up in the gallery, it is there though, once you're in your folder with it press the top left to select it).
If you selected it, your screen will look like this
Now you'll want to add a layer, the layer being your photo you edited before (select photo layer, then navigate to Adobe photoshop touch folder, it'll be in there)
. Once selected you should get this
Press the check mark to set it....
Now comes the part where you make it transparent! Press the button on the bottom right that looks like 2 papers with a + sign (the same button you pressed to add a layer), then instead of adding a layer, press the other 2 paper button that pops up
Now, just mess with the slider for opacity
. I think anywhere from 30-35 is just about perfect, but you can set it wherever, the lower the slider, the more transparent the pic will be.
Once you have the opacity where you want it you will need to merge the two pics. To do that you will press the button that has the arrow pointing down. (it's under the opacity slider) click merge visible, you'll now notice you don't have two layers anymore, which means you're done and ready to save!
press done and save it the same way you did before.
Now you're ready to rename it and throw it in a flashable and flash! (I've only done this on wicked and tpr for sprint, but it should work on all tw ROMs that utilize morphology, for tpr it needs to be named pulldown.png and for wicked it's tw_custom_bg.png, just make sure to name the png to whatever your rom has for the pulldown or it won't show up) Since I don't know what the pulldown background is named for you over here in Verizon land, you'll need to make sure you name it correctly for your rom. The image is found in system/app/systemui.apk/res/drawable-xhdpi...
AS ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP!!!
Thank you @kennyglass123 for confirming it was OK to make this thread, also thank you to @bigpappags3 for your help figuring this out!
