Hi guy!

Thanks for in advance!
@thirdz you are still on mb2 that was the first leak for ace II maybe it's not working because you need to update to a newer firmware
Difference between custom and stock.
Hi all,
I'm new here on XDA-Developers, and have a question about the different types of kernels.
Here the phone can be adjusted with a stock or a custom kernel.
I would really like to know the difference between the two, so i can pick up one to root my Galaxy Ace 2.
When i bought mine Gingerbread came with it, but half year later i upgraded to Jelly Bean with Samsung Kies.
My phone became very slow 2 days later, and i'am unable to reach my gallery, cannot make photo's and Whatsapp incoming media cannot be downloaded.
However i deleted some unused apps at that time, but the worked for a day and the system memory became full again.
Could anyone help me out with this problem?
My external sd card has 32 GB of memory, 3 GB is used 29 GB unused.
Regards,
n0rt0x
Hi guys! im trying to root my ace 2 with jb stock rom installed but that .zip files doesn't work for me...
i put that update.zip, root.zip or however they are named, boot into stock recovery, choose install from external storage and no files get found.
sd card works fine and stock rom can mount it but files cannot be found...
looks like i need custom recovery for root and root for custom recovery.... -.-
Choose from sdcard.
No you dont need root for custom recovery. Btw you can flash root.zip directly from stock recovery
Sent from my GT-I8160 using Tapatalk
is there away to do this with STOCK kernel on GB?
This is a little confusing as it would suggest I could flash a custom kernel with our root...Is that correct?

If so could some one suggest which kernel so can get started?
PS don't forget the phone is not seen via pc as usb port damaged so flashing would be done via stock recovery
i updated my hh from gb to jb via kies. and i lost my root acces.

I was unable to flash CWM using this method. (on my GT-I8160 running Android 4.1.2)
It gave me the "signature verification failed" error.
However this method was very quick and worked perfectly fine for me.
ok, due to not having privileges of posting outside links(min 10 posts required) go to androidxda.com and search for "root samsung galaxy ace 2 i8160"
No CWM required (but I think i'll install that anyway).
Thanks for the TUT
Hi i followed your method the TUT is great, and i wouldnt call myself a noob but im really having troubles. I flash the md5 file through odin i get a PASS all threads completed succesfully however when i reboot into recovery and look inside the extSD to flash SuperSU its empty.... so i rebooted the phone and installed through the playstore and it gives me the ,device does not have the binaries installed and SU cannot install them 'this is a problem', speach, any ideas?

Hello, i have recently installed the leaked ver of ICS for the skyrocket SGH-I727, unfortunately every root guide pertains to having CWM installed and working? (idk how without root, since you can't boot into CWM recovery without su) or the built in recovery that samsung comes with. When i reach the recovery mode the version is 3e, and i only have my external sd card available, i cannot browse anything within my internal sd card, and also i cannot install the superuser package because it fails the signature check, which i am seeing this common with recovery 3e since nothing will pass the signature check. How then am i supposed to either revert back to recovery 2e or root my device another way? I am pretty sure the zergrush method will not work with ICS.
Thank you.
You have to Odin cwm.
The above is correct you have to flash cwm through Odin

Go to this link (click on the word) and you will get the CWM that you will have to flash through ODIN and then below you will also find the Su files that you will have to flash through CWM to get a complete root on the phone.
After you are done with the root and everything I recommend that you use ODIN to flash CWM Touch http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566613... I guess you can flash it to start with as well but since i did the CWM follwed by Su and then after getting root and going on a custom ROM i flashed the Touch I am telling you to do the same.. Your call
nvm
Recently I hard-bricked my Tab whilst installing a Rom on it (Brick Bug). Now I have a replacement, and it's about time I replaced the HC with something else.
I plan to use the 'Singha ROM ICS P6800DXLP7' ROM and ' Dedraks' GT-P6800' kernel. I'm guessing installation for both is via CWM, but that is how I bricked my tab last time. How can I work around this as to not brick it again? Odin? Which do I install first? Any guidance would really be appreciated!
Thanks
Which cwm you using that cause it to brick?
Share some detail procedure...wipe on stock rom, custom rom, kernel...etc which end with brick?
For now I believe safe atm..
- From stock ICS
- Root with this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849235
- Install cwm using Mobile Odin
- Boot to cwm recovery
- Flash custom rom and custom kernel
- Reboot recovery NOT reboot system.
- Full wipe and fix permission
- Reboot system to home screen
That what I always do
Here's what works for me
first, d/l CWM to SD card.
then power down.
reboot into download mode ,PC Odin is my install of choice for the roms...
then power down again after the new rom installs and re-boots
re-boot into recovery and choose install zip from SD and choose CWM (which is a temporary install)
dont wipe anything, just choose to install zip and then choose your new kernel.
After kernel (a safe one) installs, then re-boot system.
Ive never bricked this tab or my GN7000 Note
good luck
correct me if im wrong, but as long as you do not factory reset in stock ics recovery you are okay. Right?
Some Note GT 7000 guys reported that they bricked their phablets by copping large files (being on ICS). If this doesn't affect our P6800s, then you are not wrong.
I had installed LQ2 without wiping anything. But had many Screen Offs and Shut Downs, so I considered to risk the clean install.
Did it with Mobile Odin Pro, but first
Ensured that I already have CWM 6.0.0.1
Flashed Dedraks Kernel.
In Mobile Odin chosen "open file..." and then the particular md5 file,
BUT EXCLUDED:
1. Kernel
2. Recovery
Then I selected "wipe" and "clean", crossed my fingers and everything went OK.
Not quite everything, because I lost root, although I am pretty sure that I did not unselect "everroot'.
It was not a big issue. Installed again "root.zip" via CWM recovery.
Its about a week since then and I have nothing to complain.
...
Thanks for the responses guys.
Does this sound safe?:
Flash LQ2 via PC Odin
Root from universal recovery
Flash CWM 6.0.11 via PC Odin
Flash Dedraks Kernel via CWM
Then root again if needed.
Thanks

If you are on gingerbread or lower, download SGS Kernel Flasher free from Play Store. The CWM Synthesis 1.2 Ghz link is working and this is the one I always use! Select flash zip and let it flash for about 20 minutes and that's it! U must have over 80% battery or you're dead
If still not working, try Odin back to stock with root from this link: U must have Samsung drivers installed on PC first.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705260
Then SGS Kernel Flasher+CWM synthesis!
Ah, sorry, i've forgot to update my post.
Yesterday,
I tried ODIN to get CWM and 2.3 GB beside but my infuse get bricked... (Option C, in infuse 4G dev' forum )
In fact, it was stuck on samsung logo while booting, after the flashing
I've tried one-click unbrick, and, curiously, despite the "successfully unbricked" status, my phone get hard bricked.
It don't boot at all. lol
I laughed...
So...Can i send my phone to service center or something like that ? Or, it's dead for ever ? :'o
PS: Sorry for my english, again. I'll try to do my best.
Clarification

Does flashing CWM synthesis with SGS Kernel Flasher require modded recovery file in sytem/bin. On my rooted (Framaroot) GB2.3.6 UCLB3 Infuse there is no recovery file in system/bin and all other files in this directory are grayed out .Copy recovery file to System/bin fails even though the file system is mounted RW. No! If you're on stock gb with root, sgs kernel flasher from Play Store basically flashes the clockwork mod (cwm) aka gb recovery on your infuse to allow flashing of roms via recovery! So no need for any additional steps if you have a stock gb infuse 4g with root

The stock android recovery is for applying OTA updates pushed by the carrier/manufacturer. It's not built to flash custom firmware unlike custom recoveries like CWM or TWRP. The stock recovery usually looks for a file called update.zip on the sd card to flash. If you want to flash a custom recovery, make sure you have an unlocked bootloader, then you can use adb / fastboot / ODIN etc depending on your device to flash your custom recovery.

How about the weird combination of letters, numbers, and symbols I can see if I select "Apply update from external storage", what does that mean? Could you also please teach me how to unlock bootloader and the rest of things I need to get ready?
1 year ago I didn't actually have to do such things like these. I started from Gingerbread 2.3.6 that came from my country, I updated it to leak Jelly Bean in the start then reverted it back and then installed the official one. After that I installed a custom rom. I have easily managed to install it because when I booted into recovery it has already a CWM.
