[Q] How can I disable the "Easy Clip" S Pen feature? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, I'm loving the note 10.1 for notes, its totally revolutionized my note taking in college. I'm currently using the Lecture Notes app and it works great! The only problem I am having is this "Easy Clip" function that Samsung built into the S Pen features. When you press the button and draw on the screen you can "crop" any image and do stuff with it. Pretty cool function, however I'd like to disable it so I can use the "button+drawing" function in Lecture Notes to act as an eraser.
I can't seem to find anything in the settings or online about disabling Easy Clip (or the S Pen gestures all together) so any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated :good:.
FYI, I'm still running the stock 4.1 rom. I would assume that running a custom rom would solve my problem but I haven't had a chance to root the tablet yet. Please let me know if you've had a similar issue and were able to solve it

Not possible.
But if you install gmd gesture pen app then you can..

Hi
I got lecture notes which function do you mean by button + draw

You need to check out this huge Lecture Notes thread. The developer is always helping and improving things. There are so many people there that are very fluent in the use of Lecture Notes that I don't want to confuse you and give advice. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1870639

It would be extremely convenient to paint in the ArtFlow, if disable this!!
Is it a separate app or just a feature bundled with other s-pen functionality in one process?

Hello community,
I found a solution to disable the easy-clip feature temporary on my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 with german NH3 ROM.
With these steps I got the temporary disable of easy-clip:
1. Draw a circle with spen button holded on the display to start easy-clip
2. Hit the question mark
3. Press home button
4. Easy-clip shoud be temporary disabled until next deep sleep or restart
Can anyone confirm this solution on his Note device?
Sorry for my English

[Q] Keyboard dock customizations

Anyone know how to do the following:
1. Change the color of the mouse pointer. I can only see it if the screen brightness is turned all the way up.
2. Is there way to map a key to the recent programs screen?
3. Is there anyway to "Alt+Tab" through open programs? I know the concept of open programs is different than in Windows but even a single key to cycle through would be awesome.
Thanks
as of right now, no no and no.
sorry.
You could possibly change the mouse pointer color if you root and could find the image extract it, edit it and then replace it, but as far as i know no one has tried.
there is noway to remap keys so for now you have to actually touch the screen for this. and yes i find it annoying too.
honeycomb dosn't support a function like that. maybe ice cream this fall.
Apps and recent apps are two glaring omissions to the keyboard considering all the crap shortcut keys I'll most likely never go near. A long press on the home key would be nice to bring up recent apps. Control x/c/p would be nice shortcuts as well.

I know Ctrl+p works. Does ctrl+c/x not work?

You might want to download the guide from the Market.

It seems that the productivity tools button are not present in the Memo template...
(but are there in the other templates)
Am I wrong?

I'm just wondering if someone can elaborate on this a little bit and let us know how to fix this. I don't seem to have the productivity toolbar or haven't found where to select it. Specifically I can't do the handwriting recognition.
Thanks
The first icon enables or disables edit.
Next to this, in fact to the right of it, is a group of 4 icons.
The first is the drawing icon, next is the icon that you're looking for.
By double tapping it you can change between various features including formula, shape and text recognition.
Maybe this is common knowledge but I just discovered today that different templates have different functions embedded in them that apparently aren't available in other templates, e.g. long pressing on the contacts field in the meeting template allows you to bring up your contacts, you can also bring up a change date window in the date field etc.
In the diary you can change the weather icon types, in travel you can open maps app and import a clipping of an area and so on. It's very disappointing that you cannot seem to insert/use these fields in every note. The functions you want don't appear to be in a memo based note but are in others.

Agreed. This seems like quite an oversight on Samsung's part. You should be able to use all of the functionality regardless of the template. This took me a while to figure out until I watched their videos over again and picked up on this.

Same issue here. You have to pick a template to suit what you want to create. Its quite confusing. There also seems to be little documentation about what template has what tool.I can understand the floating note pad not having all tools but everything in the full snote app should have them. Maybe a tools toggle button to turn on and off what you want in the tool bar would make even more sense.
But i still enjoy the device

Hi. Pls let me know if you ever found out if the memo template has the productivity tools icon. I also can't find it.
productivity tools
To reach the handwriting to text, click on the productivity tools twice or hover over the button with your s pen and click once (looks like the shape button) a drop down menu will show up with the handwriting to text on the last options. Hopes this helps :fingers-crossed:
HI all
I have note 10.1 2014, and the snote does not have productivity tool icon in any template I have tried. Can someone help me?
The attached image is what I get in snote:
thanks
couldnot attach the image, here is the link instead: image

[think tank] Page buddy

so if you ever ran jkay mods on your past galaxy devices , you know what the quicklaunch panel is ..
that's pretty much the same thing as page buddy , with some exceptions...
for those who dont know what page buddy is :
enable it via settings under display submenu ...
here is what I noticed about this ...
1_ it only shows up when you remove the spen ( I can probably fix that)
2_ it will only work if you are usign TWlauncher .. ( I can probably fix that)
3_ the shortcuts are non editable but if you remove one of the apps form system the shortcuts gets replaced by other apps ( I can probably fix the default app to ... or maybe not)
here is what it woudl be missing ....
customizable shortcuts ... we would either need an app to customize them or some longpress feature on them (in order to change them) would be neet ..
please as the section says only dev talk in here ...
if you think you can contribute to this project I will get it going and most probably achieve 2/3 of these options pretty quicklt...
the problem is investing time in this without the application to handle it is pretty much a waste of time ..
who 's in ?
I'm not sure what your goal is... Are you trying to customize page buddy, write a replacement for it, or ?
The things that trigger "page buddy" aren't limited to the spen. It can also be triggered by plugging in the headphones or docking the device. (I'm not sure what happens if 2 or more triggers are active at a time.)
The docks shortcuts on "page buddy" are supposed to be the most frequently used apps in a given situation. For example, the spen buddy dock shortcuts would be the apps that you most frequently use when the spen is removed.
Take care

well yea im french
so lemme rephrase
I am trying to have an option to force page buddy thingy to be on or off
then customize/force the apps at like we do for multiwindow
english enough ?
I would like to be able to force the shortcuts on the page buddies, my GNote2 has chosen a set which I dont want and says I cant change them!
Someone managed to do that on the SGSIII (shortcuts when headphone was plugged in). I don't know if he rewrote the handling app or edited the corresponding database, but it was possible to rearrange the apps by editing a sql db of an app named like "context aware...".
On the note i think you have to write to the /data/data/com.samsung.android.providers.context/databases/ContextDB.db "app_usage" database to do what you want to do.
Hopefully you get this working (all points you mentioned) since I was looking for this since day one.
THX in advance.
EDIT: Here is the link to the SGSIII app.
It would be TONS easier to use Tasker for most hardware/connectivity changes. Even easier in conjunction with Folder Organizer.
If you want to do something with the SPen removal (etc.), use GMD SPen Control, or SPen Toolbox.

[Q] completely turn off touchscreen: possible? how?

Hi there!
Yes I want to completely turn off my touchscreen! The Galaxy Note got this smart S-Pen, which I use to draw or take notes during lectures. And for this I need Apps with palm rejection, but the general palm rejection is simply not enough! The home-button is allways still functional which is stupid, anoying and useless. Furthermore I want to use some apps which do not support palm rejection, like ps-touch. So why not invent an app, which completly prohibits any Touchscreenevent while the S-Pen is active?
Allright guys, now help me! Is there allready an App available, which is capable off such things? That would be awesome! And if not, why? What's the problem?
There was a time when I did some little programming for myself, so someone might got some hints for me where I could gather the knowledge to make such an app by myself! That would be awesome aswell!
So thats it! I wish you all a pleasant day!
Nope, no app like that...
rooted?
If you're rooted with a custom ROM, or maybe just a different launcher unrooted, how about just hiding the bottom Nav bar? So u don't accidentally touch it... I know I've seen that b4...

EMUI3.1 Noob Questions

Hello dear XDA community!
Just bought my Honor 6 H60-L12 and I have some questions that I need help about:
1. Should I root? what are the downside to this?
2. In the lockscreen, how can I enable double tap to start music feature (I saw this in Miui V5 and in Emui V3.0)?
3. how can I set Google Calendar to open when I tap the date in the notification window?
4. If I understand correctly, NFC doesn't consume battery at all (unlike WiFi or BT). if so, is it possible to keep it on without the NFC icon showing in the top notification bar?
5. Right now I have version B532-Stable, any reason to switch to 5.11.16-Developer? where can I see add value/features/changelog?
6. I can't find the Long-Press-On-Back-Button-To-Force-Close-Current-App option in the developer's menu, any help?
7. Why in the About Phone menu, the resolution is 720*1280 and not 1080*1920?
solved.
8. I want to buy a TouchPlus Glass film, any downside?
Is 25$ a good price? or is it too high/low? Will it interfere with any case?
found at 15$.
9. Is there a way to make Google Now to start from long-pressing the home button?
Hope I won't have any more questions.
Thanks in advance!
(and if I have any grammar mistakes, please let me know, I'm not a native english speaker and I'm always happy to learn)
Anyone?
