This thread will be a continuation of the thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982334
The goal in this thread will to developed multiple roms for the shunned -F model.
Goals for the first rom are as follows (will change as more comment) :
Improve battery life by at least 10%.
Remove the lag.
Improve the performance.
Create a different desktop to replace the Idea Desktop.
Attempt to discover if radio hardware is inside.
Already added to the newest version:
Added /data/app functionality
Added init.d support
Rom is now deodexed
Feel free to comment on things you would like to see in this first rom. Also, if there are any willing people to be testers, contact me through PM.

Just a reinstall of the stock rom. Or if you did a backup in CWM before you ran it. I'm still trying to figure out what's going wrong with it. Just doesn't make sense to me.

I got my issues fixed, I am now rooted and I got V6 running. Will TWRP work with the -F? Can I use Goo.im to download the recovery?
As for roms, is there anyway we can have just a pure AOSP, just like I would find on the Nexus 7?
For the rom you are cooking how about Nova Launcher for the home, simple , basic, low ram, and it works well.

I don't know about TWRP working on this tab. I've used CWM, and the roms I'll be making will be flashable through it. If you look in the beginning of the other post, it shows how to install it. As for the roms, an AOSP rom may be possible in the future. For now though, the rom will be based on the stock rom, but with major improvements. The launcher that will be used on this first one will be GO Launcher HD, since it was designed for tablets, and I have some experience with it. It may change periodically as I cook up some roms.
I will hopefully have the first alpha done sometime this weekend if things keep going well.
I am looking for some testers, PM me if you'd want to help with it.

I've taken a long, winding, occasionally interrupted road to rooting my Xoom 3G and by way of the "ROM Manager" app managed to get EOS 1.0 on there. It's clearly ICS and seems fairly stable, if not very stable. The problem with all of this is I never really felt like my brain was absorbing everything I was doing so I almost feel like I accidently rooted and flashed my Xoom, or watched myself do it. I'd like to flash more and better ROMs; I'd like to play around with different recoveries; I'd like to back my stuff up like a mature adult; I want to root my other devices; I want to do all these great things, but don't feel like I've really learned enough do anything. I don't even know if I could redo what I've already done without messing something up. Please, make me not dumb!
well first off always make a backup just incase.... but since youve got a custom rom installed , installing another rom is easy.
download the rom you want to flash boot into recovery , make a nandroid backup, then install the rom youve downloaded, id recommend eos's jb rom its awesome, pretty straight forward as youve done the hard part already,
other devices i cant comment as their all different for rooting and installing recovery etc, but once youve got recovery installed its same procedure for installing a rom, but always do plenty of reading and be sure what youre doing,

Thanks for the quick reply. More questions. What is nandroid and how do you back it up? Where do I find a complete list of Xoom ROMs (or at least the jb one you mentioned)? I always hear about CM -- have they done anything for Xoom? Do I need an sdcard anymore now that I'm rooted? What are some essential apps?

Get ez-recovery, makes flashing different recoveries super easy. After flashing rom and setting up, go back to recovery and flash the kernal. That's what I did on synergy and imo's kernal. Beans v5 flashes it all at once. So far both run great with very good battery life.

If you flash any CM10 based ROM's you will have to do some extra steps. IMO you should just start off with Touch Wiz based ROMS so all you need to do is flash from your SD once and reboot.
This is a better place to talk about it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709There is also LOTS of "HOW TO" stuff there that should get you going.

Moved. OP, in the future, use the report post feature - there's an option to request a thread move.
Hi, everyone. Since I'm still a new member, I can't post directly on the developers threads so I'm posting here.
I recently downloaded [Sungsonic™ HD©] from adishakthi, for my (previously rooted) P3113. I followed the installation steps, got everything installed and booted up fine.
I find that the big problem it has, is the MIC (microphone) currently not working on any app, is the only thing I really need working/fixed on this ROM.
There also appear to be a few app crashes, but I read somewhere that one needs to reinstall them to get them to work well, not really a problem there. Same goes to the IR Blaster, its rare to find a ROM that will have it working or fixed.
So anyway, I pulled (extracted) the default_gain.conf from XAR region UECLK7 Update (P3113UECLK7), because adi was asking the people that are having problem with the mic even after his rom update, to send him this file. That's what I'm going to do.
I attached a .zip with system/etc/default_gain.conf file.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
Has anybody found a solution to this particular problem with this rom on P3113 yet ?

Sure, I'll do that and come back with the result.
I'm back with results.
=> Infinite LOOP
Method I used was to simply overwrite SungSonic's system/etc and system/lib with stock 4.1.1 (P3110XXCLK7_P3110OXACLK7_BTU) system/etc and system/lib.
Next, I should try replacing files and not whole directory content (recursive). Cause it looks that I'm replacing sungsonic's rom vital files.
3rd update
Just to let everyone know, 3rd Update still doesn't fix the MIC Problem for P3110/3113 owners. :crying:
We switch to another ROM or just wait patiently. I know adi is working on many things probably at the same time. Hopefully he'll find some time to fix this issue for us.
I worked on this for several days last week, flashing allll kinds of stuff back and forth... never got mic or ir working and I went to a modified stock rom. Couldn't handle no mic!! Don't ever expect ir to be working on Sungsonic bc it's based on a 3110 base rom which never had ir from the beginning lol.

Nope, I've been looking, but it could be awhile before they get it sorted out. I gave up on Sungsonic for now, and went to the Romswell rom.
I've noticed something is broken in almost all the custom roms, its either wifi, camera, mic, or the ir... or some combo. I did notice that different things work and break with different kernel combo's also. Something to think about

This is my point. Will PhilZ recovery properly write partitions? Specifically /data, as I believe that is the problematic one due to SELinux.

I'll make our position clear on that statement. We recommend a specific recovery so that we can rule out certain items when debugging issues, that is all. We are not making a recommendation based on "what is the best recovery available", it is a consistency decision that helps us when issues arise related to the file system, flashing, etc.
