Ok.. I was seeing the sticky on how to root. The first method says that it allows you to root without changing the flas counter. But zedomax said he doesn't recommend it anymore. Is it safe to use? Im currently on 4.1.2.
Thanks.

Yes use root-66 method. Very easy. After rooting back up your imei. Also resist way to install cwm was with the ez app from market, also listed in the development thread.

There's a much quicker and easier way to root now:

Hello i want to Root my captivate so i can Network Unlock it.
I tried superoneclick and it didnt worked.
Any other way to root my phone ?
If i flash CyanogenMod 9 can i unlock the phone using the Galaxy_S Unlock by Helroz on Play store ?
Usually, I'm nice, but this question has been asked way too many times. You most likely didn't search or read other posts that clearly explain how rooting is different for gingerbread. I am sure you will find out without having to look too hard.

There you go. Yes, that is one way to do it. You can also flash corn kernel; there is an option to root from recovery.

Do i have to flash the stock kernel after rooting ?
Yep...if u used Autoroot kernel.
Nope...if u flash kk4 Corn Kernel. --- i recommend v7.0A if u choose Corn.

I think i bricked my phone.
In odin the software got stuck in "Initializing" and i disconected the phone. Now the phone wont turn on it just show a "phone a danger signal and a computer"
I fixed i used the USB at the back port of pc
I want to ask that what leads to flash counter increment
1.flashing anything from odin
Or
2.flashing anything via recovery
Or both of them leads to increment???
And how to reset it???
Pls also tell me working procedure to unroot p3100 except flashing stock.
Thanx....
Only flashing root files or custom firmwares via pc odin increases counter
Not stock firmwares
Not via mobile odin
Reset to zero via triangle away app free version in this forum or paid in google play
I think this is a file called unroot to remove root somewhere in this forums use the one specific for your device model number

KK..like i posted before, i rooted my note using the first method. Thats is i flash a root injected ics european stock rom because i just wanted root and didnt want my count to go up. Now i want to update to jellybean via OTA. Will i loose my root? if i loose my root it means i have to use cwm recovery method, i dont want that. and there is no root injected jellybean stock rom. so please can someone tell me how to go about it? thanks
If you're rooted you can't update OTA. Simplest thing would be to install the stock rom using PC Odin and reroot using Chainfire's Exynos Abuse or just flash the rom on Mobile and Odin with root injection.

how do I do that
I suppose 3 things.
1) Search. If that's your response you don't know enough about what the risks are. Just use google. The forum isn't here to do your work for you.
2) Read. A lot. For the same reason.
3) Try saying please.
I don't want to sound like an arse but all the information you need is right here and is easy to find. It's rude to expect it of others when you can't be bothered yourself.
The thread you should start with though is probably http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050297

thanks for the response even though you sound so hash.
As stated above I just received an update to my 8013 which was already running 4.1.2. Does anyone know what this is? Once updating I lost root and have yet to find a way to re-root. The method i was trying previously fails each time. this way : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv8440QhHsw
Anyone know what this update is/does and how to re root once updated? Thanks
My note downloaded this overnight and I installed it today. I suspect these may be more minor security tweeks. Lookout reported that 3 apps (screensaver and two others, not individually identified) were updated and were safe. I've not noticed any significant changes.
Were you able to obtain root? And if so how?
Sorry, I'm not rooted. Were you using the one-click method?
I am rooted. I used mobile odin pro to install firmware. I set it to inject root, mobile odin, su. Cannot see differences yet, but still rooted.

You just root the same way you did previously. It should work fine.
Is there anyway to update and keep root? Has anyone tried this update with mobile odin pro's "ever-root" feature? I would prefer not have to use the original method I used to root because it increases flash count and it's annoying to have to go through the process of removing the count.
Or could someone upload an odexed completely stock version?

as for your triangle count, thats easy. Just use TRIANGLE AWAY from the play store...
I had already read the first post but it didn't say anything about having tried to use mobile odin to update and keep root which is why I posted my question. Plus as I mentioned I would prefer not to have to go through the whole triangle away process. I always wind up having to flash a new firmware and do a complete restore in order to remove the 1 binary count even after using triangle away. That's a short explanation of the whole process I always have to go through and it takes a long time.
If it was quick, I wouldn't be asking how to update and keep root.
#update
Tried CF ROOT again today... It worked! Now Rooted!
