CleanROM 4.2.1 vs CleanROM 4.1.1 - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm on the last updated CleanROM 4.1.1 (3.4.6) using unters kernel and EVERYTHING just works flawlessly and smooth. I like to always flash the newest thing out and been debating about 4.2.1? Anyone else debating like me? I see there's really no alternative kernel support on the new CleanROM 4.0 but how does it overall compare to the latest update on CleanROM 4.1.1 (3.4.6)? Battery life? Speed? Functionality?

I'm still on the older bootloader too and running CROMI v3.3. I like to keep up to date on the newest software too but I've decided to hold off until they at least get an oc kernel and release a newer version of TWRP.
I'm very happy with v3.3. It runs flawlessly for me. I guess I'll just stick with it for the time being.

im loving the new cromi but dont use the cromi bootanimation as it messes things up, but everything is running great and smooth for me even with out an oc kernal

Yeah, I talked to Elesbb and he said his was running great without the OC Kernel too. Imagine what it's going to be like once a performance kernel is released. Wheweeee!

Agreed. Really smooth even without OC kernel
(OC kernel never worked for me anyways as it would make my tf300 freak out for some reason)
really happy with the move

Hi all,
Well, i want to install a costom ROM+Kenel in my Transformer.

Just to be sure i don't something stupid: first i need to install CWM, then install ROM and kernel, right?

Actually first you need to find out if your TF is even rootable.
If rootable than yes root, install CWM than flash ROM + kernel

me too. i have tried every rom, but went back to revolver.
I didn't know this tablets could run custom roms
Perfect Question! I have owned my TF for less than a week. Figured out how to root and install CWM thanks to some nice detailed posts. I am currently running PRIME 2.0.5 with Clemsyns 22 OC kernel at 1424 max.
Why I chose PRIME? I saw a Youtube video on it. So I have read and read multiple threads on ROMs here. Looks like the choice of three. So far this is very stable and seems fast. I have had no fc's or issues like that.
I am interested as well as which ROM people prefer and why? I know a lot comes down to personal preference. I'm looking for stability, speed, compatibility, updates.

Thank you all for your replies!
Yesterday I finally decided to go with Prime 1.6 and netformer OC 1.6ghz.
Well, one thing is sure, it's clearly faster now...
Now I get 6000+ on antutu benchmark!
Wow, you're lucky you have one that can go that high. Some tf cannot be OC to 1.6. Mine, for example, can only be OC to 1.4 before it freezes and crash.

[Q] SmoothnessRequired

Guys i'm using serduPetru stock .13 JB rom with serdu OC kernel
Is there anything i can do to make my tab smoother, a tweak or another kernel, (something compatible with my rom ofcourse)
I realise that i have quite the number of widgets on , but for a quadcore tablet running JB , i expected things to be a lil' bit smoother ,
I dont care about benchmark stats, i just wanna something that's buttery smooth with decent multitasking
Thanx in advance guys
try cleanRom 3 and flash clemsyns kernel after and you will see real smoothness
Is this kernel compatible with my current rom??, dont have the time currently for flashing a new rom

You don't have 10 minutes because that about what it would take.

Recommended ROM and Kernel?

Sorry for making a thread as such but i know little about the development on the TF300 and would appreciate if people could mention what kernel and ROM they recommend for good overall daily use (fast but stable).
Also, it'd be helpful if useful things for the TF300 such as browser2ram were mentioned. If they are already mentioned in a thread, i apologise but i haven't seen it.
Thanks

CleanROM, the Newest Version. Now it's 3.0.4
It's very fast & stable
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2049322
Thanks for the answer. I think i will go with that ROM when i decide to root and install a custom ROM.
Is a kernel recommended in the cleanrom thread?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
Yes, You can install kernel installer 1.2 from CleanROM thread, but I'd rather Asus Stock Kernel. Other kernels are for Infinity. That kernels will work on our TF300T, but only in 95%. You will have problems for example with front camera. This ROM is enough fast with Asus stock kernel. In today upgrade to 3.1, CleanROM can redduce Lags in games.
Thank you. Are there no other stable kernels other than stock?
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
In kernel installer you can choose Unter's kernel. CleanROM developer reccomended Asus stock kernel. CleanROM based on Stock. Maybe you can install kernel which is made for stock on CleanROM, but I'm not sure. You'd better ask in CleanROM thread.
Thanks, can you overclock on stock kernel?
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
No, I can't. I tried do this by SetCPU.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using XDA Premium HD app
So is cleanrom smooth without even overclocking?
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
Yes, It's. For example NFS Most Wanted 2 doesn't have any lags.
CleanROM 3.1 with stock rom works like a charm...
if you want to overclock you can install the TF300T.zip from Untermensch..is is overclocked to 1600Mhz...the stock ROM runs at 1200Mhz I believe. Overclocked kernels drain your battery faster though.
I have used the TF300T.zip Untermensch kernel, but went back to stock (CleanROM 3.1) , cause it is fast enough.
I think I might as well stick with stock then since currently, I don't even know how to flash a kernel on the TF300. Thanks for everyone's help!
I just rooted and installed CleanROM and can attest to the fact that my tablet is quite a bit smoother with it. I haven't had a single instance of lag since switching to it, but I'm still testing it out.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
I'm using Cleanrom with the kernel from The Ultra Fast Rom - JB Overclock Edition V03 ! by Surdu_Petru.. I'd installed The Ultra Fast Rom first then Cleanrom. This allows the tablet to be overclocked to 1.7 though I have kept it at 1.6 using No Frills CPU ...
Thanks for the replies. It must be said, my TF300, after getting rid of every app etc. On it (bar alarm clock extreme) is, dare I say it, smooth! Well, it's much smoother than it was although things aren't perfect.

[Q] Help with TF700T Lag

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to flash to my TF700 to help with overall system lag? I've heard some people say that there's are really fast, but that's never been the case with mine.
I'm currently unlocked, rooted, running Android 4.2.2 and have the CynogenMod 10.1.3-RC2 ROM flashed using the 3.1.10-cynogenmod-g6c52142 Kernal.

What version did you use and kernel? I am going to release my extreme tweaks today sometime to go with Cromi 5.0.3 and Hund's kernel. It is mainly for performance. You can give it a shot and give me a feedback..

I'm not sure which version it was. I flashed it a while ago so I'm sure it wasn't the newest version that's out now. I'll go ahead and flash the newest version and Hund's kernel and try out your tweak.

You will be happy with it..
Edit: You may want to back up your personal stuff on your external sd so you can format your data partition to prevent of any issues from one rom to another..

I know that you will be happy with that setup... You can also do a test drive on my Fast and Furious Extreme Tweak on that combo..
I had the same problem running cromi x 5 0 3. Then I tried out lagfix free, and now it runs very well

I tried lagfix as well and it did seem to speed it up even more

[Q] 4.3 Kernel w/ Data2SD support?

Title kind of says it all, I have heard of folks in a few posts for 4.3 based roms mention just running a kernel with Data2SD built in. Bryce's kernel is the only 4.3 kernel i have found and it does not appear to have data2sd included....
4.3 runs pretty well without it but it would be nice to have.

That's kernel version 6 kind of supports 4.3 and has preinit support built in which means with a small script you can set the mount points for data2sd before android boots.
Pop over to his thread for info.

Thanks for the reply, as far as I know that will not work on 4.3: From that thread:

No this kernel is only for stock based roms, it will not work on CM 10.2 (currently there's no custom kernel for CM10.2).

I used it on CM10.2 as did that. The new version is 4.3 compatible as it says in the changelog. Although he didin't put it in the first post it is near the end of the thread. You also need to inject his modules into CM.
If you pop over to his dual boot thread he shows you how to do this as well
Awesome thanks for posting again! I will give this a try right away! I'd seriously contemplating going down the path of compiling my own....but would rather not
