[Q] RAZR i - bootloop after Rooting - General Questions and Answers

I accidently used a root-kit for ICS while having JB (Bootloader unlocked before) from:
http://theandroidrom.com/how-to-root-motorola-razr-i/
Now my device is constantly rebooting...
I can enter fastboot and already tried all options (recovery, wiping etc.), none of them working.
Then I tried to apply the firmware again from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1936512&nocache=1
Choosing "91.2.26001.Retail.en.EU - 4.1.2"
It stops the first time I have to push a key after being asked about installed drivers etc...
I have all drivers installled and the phone connected (do i have to shut it off or stay in fastboot? I tried while staying in fastboot so far) with my pc. But how do I enable USB Debugging from fastboot?? I did so when my phone was still working, but I cant say if its still like that.
Another possible problem: Battery is on 15% but being connected with PC gives power, doesnt it? I will let it charge up, now...Maybe you can give me some tips what else I could do?

"Communications with phone unexpectedly interrupted" error: Revolutionary

I saw a similar issue in the EVO 3D forum, but nothing that helped my situation.
I run revolutionary on windows vista and everything seems to be working fine until it restarts and goes into bootloader, then revolutionary gives the error that "communications with phone unexpectedly interrupted. Press (almost) any key to exit." I have tried many times and still the error. I have left it at charge only, ive set it to HTC sync, and I have tried it with turning fast reboot off. Still not working. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank in advance.
It's normal. Remove the phone, reboot it and run Revo again. It'll fail each time it tries to reboot but running it again does the stages one at a time. It'll eventually say you have root and do you want to install CWM
It happened with me many time....(NOTE: Do "DISABLE Fastboot" & "ENABLE Debuggin").
Try it again. When it boots into bootloader, you will eventually see on top "S-OFF" and the name "Revolutionary" as well. My Hboot version was totally different from the one mentioned on the "Guide to S-Off,Root,Flash CWM Recovery", But I did Root and flashed few ROM's till now. As soon as you instal CWM, install ROM Manager, Update the CWM and reboot into recovery and make a BACKUP(To be on safeside,as it was useful for me)
Good Luck.
Thanks. Ill keep trying and hopefully itll work eventually like you guys said.
First upgrade to Windows 7 But yeah, like the other 2 two guys said, just keep trying

HTC sync was the only way it worked for me, on the the third loss of communication it worked, s off. As others stated, keep trying, it works.

Please Make Sure you have HTC Sync uninstalled and Droid Explorer uninstalled.
Did you check the Post #2 of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300

Try putting it to charge only, fastboot off and debugging on.
Try it 2-3 times.. eventually it gives s-off. Then you can install recovery by booting the phone & putting PGxx.zip on your sdcard. Then turn off the phone and boot to bootloader (Vol - and power) press vol + when it asks for update.
I had the same problem on the 3VO. When I disabled the fastboot option it worked!!
I was having this problem, USB debug on and fast boot off. No number of resets would cure it.
This is how I solved it, in case anyone is having the same problem:
The application reset the phone a second time, at which point it would get the error, I was left in the boot menu with S-On and a sad expression on my face.
During the first reboot into the boot menu, I quickly selected 'FASTBOOT USB' (I think it was vol down once, then power button). It then started processing the ZIP file before the application could reboot it a second time.
The application will still get the same error, however on your phone, you will now have S-Off.
Disclaimer: I have no idea what I'm doing, as evidenced by my post count of 1. It seems to work fine, but my phone may explode in 30 minutes time, I have no idea.
press power key
when it asks for the fastboot second time, just press the power key once and u will get the s-off
after s-off...how can we push recovery and flash su zip...for root...
sorry guys, but I just can't get this to work. I'm having the exact same issue
as, well a lot of people. "Communications with phone unexpectedly interrupted"
I got a brand spanking new Sensation. (if that could be part of the problem)
I've scowered the internet for a solution and tried just about anything I can find.
- Phone is set to USB debugging.
- fastboot is off
- set to charge only
- sync is uninstalled
- all drivers are installed
I've tried every possible combination of the above as well.
I've tried "when it asks for the fastboot second time, just press the power key once and u will get the s-off"
for the "Try it 2-3 times.. eventually it gives s-off" I just completed my 25th try,
and still no luck.
What the f**k is going on here? I'm no noble prize winner, but I've done
way trickier stuff than this.
any ideas?
Thanks guys,
I think this error message only applies to 1.17.0008 only...I did it successfully only by following this:
1. Disable Fastboot
2. Enable USB Debugging
3. Whenever the message says "waiting for..." unplug the usb fast...after the phone reboots...plug it back it...it will load a few seconds then it will say "waiting for fastboot etc." and keep repeating it (unplug USB wait for reboot before plug back in) till "waiting for fastboot (once moar)" and you will see S-OFF!!!
Hello Guys,
I solved this issue when I rooted my HTC desire using Unrevoked..
every time the desire rebooted, then the unrevoked said that " Communications with phone unexpectedly interrupted "
What I did is that,
- Phone is set to USB debugging.
- I couldn't find (fastboot) in my mobile, I just forgot about it.
- set the mobile to sync only when connected with usb cable.
- HTC sync is uninstalled from my computer.
- my computer recognize the device when it connected with usb cable otherwise you need to download some drivers (google it).
- then I connected my desire to the computer using the usb cable and start the unrevoked software.
- the unrevoked works and download some files then said that waiting for device to reboot. my device is rebooted.. when the logo of HTC started to appear in my mobile and just before the mobile completely works after rebooting, I have unplugged the usb cable from the desire..
- the unrevoked software still saying that "waiting for the device to reboot and it may take few mintues" !!
- when the desire is completely works and ready to use I have plugged it again to the computer and choose sync mode in very fast way before the unrevoked software detect it.
- then the unrevoked software start to download some files on the deasire and reboot it again for the second time and said that " waiting for device to reboot" .. in same way in have unplugged the usb cable after the HTC logo appears before it completely start and plug it again when the desire is completely working and ready to use and to respond.
- then the unrevoked software downloaded more files and said that " Done successfully" .
When I used this method, I have rooted and flashed my htc desire mobile and It is working fine. I just installed some custom roms on my mobile from the sd card using ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.7 and it is working great..
I hope this will help somebody getting same problem.
Greeting from Saudi Arabia.

It applies to Hboot 1:18.0000 as well. However in my case, no amount of plugging and unplugging will fix the problem...
Edit: Solved by running on Win 7, outside of the VM where I usually do my phone stuff with adb installed ect... So not sure if adb was the issue or that the VM is WinXP. Anyway, seems clean install of drivers without adb installed fixed it.
try to install adb, it works
When I was rooting and s-off an htc desire on linux using revolution. It fails every time on "waiting for fastboot...", then exit with "communication with phone unexpe...".
I have adb installed with android sdk. however, i haven't started the daemon. The last time I use "adb devices" to check the connected device, this also enables the adb daemon. Then everything just goes well and i get s-off.
Remember to install adb and start it by executing "adb devices"

How do I Unbrick? Small twist

Ok so here is the issue. My Nexus S i9020a has a power button that is no longer working. Whenever I put the battery in, it automatically boots up, to reboot I take the battery out and slide back in. I want to bring it back for warranty since my bro got the warranty until 2014 or so. I had previously had a couple of custom ROMs on it. I wanted to flash stock ROM and lock the bootloader.
When I boot into recovery (hold up while I put the battery in), I can't do anything. Even the volume up/down doesn't do anything, and of course pressing the power button doesn't select anything. So I got ROM Manager and found a copy of the stock rom. ROM Manager was supposed to install the rom from the .zip file, which it sort of did. It wiped everything and installed. I left it on while I went to do something. When I came back, the phone is stuck in the bootup animation.
If I was able to do anything in recovery I would just reflash a different ROM and go again.
I have watched some videos, and tried the Oneclick Unbrick, but doesn't work. I've read some other threads here that talked about getting Linux on a USB, or other mod. But I am trying not to go that route, as it seems pretty complicated.
When the phone is in the bootup animation and I connect it to the computer, I hear the sound that Win7 detects new hardware. If I am in the bootloader Win7 does not play any of that sounds.
I remember using adb and I still have the files on my computer from when I unlocked and rooted.
Not sure what should I do now?
also, all of my soft button lights are on during the boot animation. read in one of the threads that different lights on mean different modes. so not sure if this means anything.
hi, I am afraid the bad functioning of power button is responsible of all of these problems,
probably you can send it for warranty as is now
---------- Post added at 12:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:10 PM ----------
have you tried already the linux app UnBrickable Resurrector ?
maybe you would be able to install the stock rom via fastboot
Possible fix: Remove all drivers and reinstall via Nexus root toolkit. Go to adb and flash TWRP, or CWM Touch Recovery (make sure it's touch-enabled), then flash a new rom.
Permanent fix: As far as I can remember (I also had this issue about 6 months ago) samsung will still recognize the warranty even when your bootloader is unlocked, at least in my place. The issue you're returning with is a hardware issue, not a software issue. So tell them to just replace the power button and you'll do the rest. As long as the samsung warranty sticker on top of the screw is in-tact, you're good to go. Again, this is my experience in a samsung service center near my place. I don't know how they deal with things elsewhere.
if this can help, I read in forums that also in Italy samsung support fixes nexus s in warranty even with unlocked bootloader, this is not a direct experience though
So I have tried the wugfresh Nexus Root Toolkit and tried installing different drivers. None of them can detect the phone when it is in the bootloader, windows only makes a sound when the phone is trying to boot up.
I've tried the "Flash Stock + Unroot" button but as soon as it tries checking the fastboot it cannot detect anything. The mini description says all it needs it to have the phone in the bootloader, but I can't get it to do anything else.
I have tried the guide at DroidViews (can't post links yet), but in the command prompt, fastboot just keeps waiting for the device again, windows does not detect the phone unless it starts to boot and enters the bootloop.
what do I do now?

Remove all android/samsung drivers and install PDAnet drivers. PDAnet detects the phone even on bootloader.

I just tried the PDAnet, I choose the Samsung drivers, then once it pops up with the screen to ask me to connect the phone then I'm stuck. Whether I put the battery in and let it bootloop or hold vol+ and put the battery in, it doesn't get past the screen. Only thing I could do was "skip USB" which still installed PDAnet but possibly without USB support and just bluetooth support.
I even tried it on my brother's laptop which is still in a relatively clean OEM state but the got stuck at the same place.

[Q] Is my Lenovo A850+ bricked? If not how can I fix it?

Hello all.
I just received my Lenovo A850+ today that I bought from China (via ebay). After charging it to full I put in my o2 Sim and blank micro-SD card and started having a play with the phone. (It worked fine before I started messing). Noticing there was no google play store I set about finding a way to put it on. The first thing (perhaps wrongly) i did was install some lenovo usb drivers that some site told me to use with the idea I would flash a custom rom (which i never did in the end) and enabled usb debugging.
I tried to root the phone with a program called Xroot, which unsuccessfully rooted the phone, then I downloaded a new version which updated to Xroot 1.7.7 and that supposedly successfully rooted the phone. It also installed a new app with a name similar to xroot which i then opened. It has what looked like an app manager so i started deleting apps that i thought were unnecessary (bloatware). Suddenly the list of apps changed and the phone froze. I took out the battery and attempted to restart the phone. I now have the following problem:
After hitting the power button the phone it vibrates once, plays an animation and then gets stuck on the logo screen:
Left like this it occasionally vibrates once every 20secs or so but doesnt load any further. When plugged into my PC via usb, after a minute or so my pc recognises the device (but not removable storage and CD Drive (D Lenovo Suite (an exe) pops up. after installing a chinese software suite is installed, which does pop up when my phone is plugged in.
The phone only responds when i hold the power button, which turns it off. Basically I want to fix my phone, hopefully without sending it back to china. I assumed I could just get into a recovery menu and factory reset it. I dont think I can. I can get into the following 3 menus:
factory mode: (power+volumeUp) I dont read chinese, the top few seem to be info/component checks, the bottom one restarts the phone and the eMMC option doesn't fix anything.
recovery mode: (power+volumeUp+volumeDown)Has a menu with power off, reboot, wipe user data (didnt fix anything) and install update package (i tried copying an official rom onto root of sd card but it doesnt recognise it (it looks like it specifically wants a zip called update.zip) i even renamed but didnt help.
meta mode: (power+volumeDown) Doesn't appear to do anything and has no options.
Does any1 have suggestions on how I can perform a factory reset/install a rom or fix my phone or is it just bricked? If you want me to try anything just post and I will give it a go.
Thankyou.

you can go download a rom from needrom dot com.
there two roms there.
the official older is multilaguage and the newer is english/chinese.
sorry, but cannot post a link.
You need:
1. Flash tool
2. ROM (official or custom)
see instructions here: www*needrom*com/mobile/lenovo-a850/

You need to install the ADB drivers and the Drivers for your device. If they are both installed you can check if your device is recognised by PC by typing this command: "adb devices". If you don't know how to use ADB I posted a helpful tool.
Then you need to download a ROM on your PC and then flash it via Sideload to your device.
Possible bricked A850+
Have a possible bricked A850+ I tried to install custom recovery as I wanted a custom rom and it wanted SuperSU we installed but it failed to update binary 3 times on normal, when turned I it off and back on again it was stucked in the boot screen.:crying:
I have tried to wipe all date via Recovery which I can access but still no luck with the ordinary boot, when trying to use flash tool absolutely nothing happens when the phone is connected, so can anybody in here help with my problem?
Thanks in advance

Im trying to fix my GFs phone its stuck on the boot screen when the phone got turned off during an update
I got ADB installed and can see it in the CMD but its not showing my phone as connected,
I suspect this is because I dont have USB debugging enabled but seems the phone cant turn on i cant enable it, ive spent a few hours googling and googling but i cant find any way to get anything to work seems it wont connect to the phone
The phone does show up on my drives list when plugged in but it does not show up as an android device in the device manager. Am i screwed or is there another way to fix this?
Every single thing i try has "Make sure USB Debugging is enabled." ......
is there some way to enable it when i cant get the phone turned on....

Try to install stock firmware

tf300t infected stock rom. Unable to connect through fastboot

Hi,
After a complete factory reset my kid's tf300t starts automatically installing applications like 'adult browser', 'hot videos', ... even before I'm able to select my language and connect to my wifi during the installation wizard. The device has also become extremely slow and many windows are popping up all the time.
It is still the original stock ROM, the boot loader was not unlocked.
Now I'm trying to overwrite the (infected?) stock rom. I'm able to put the device in fast boot mode (I see a status line that fast boot is enabled after pressing vol-up + per) but when I connect it to my PC 'fastboot devices' doesn't list the device. I tried with another device to check my fast boot installation and that works fine.
When doing a normal boot after a long time I was able to enable debugging mode (i saw a popup 'usb debugging mode enabled') but adb was neither able to connect.
I even tried another cable.
Anyone any suggestion how to recover my device?
Thx!
Seriously.. Wow that sucks..

Xperia Z5 Dual E6633 - Failed restoration attempts

So my Xperia Z5 Dual E6633 died on me suddenly and then gave the dreaded sleep of death with red led blinking three times. Whenever I tried to turn it on, it would vibrate once and the screen remained blank. Initially I thought the LCD has given up and I replaced it with a new LCD, which was a extra expense booked in losses now. The phone still showed the same behavior , sometimes a long press on the power button made it vibrate three times and then nothing happened. Unfortunately it had a lot of data which was not backed up.
I tried all the tricks in this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170
and followed the bits and pieces here as well
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35332880&postcount=141
However till to date I am not able to make a successful resurrection. Just wanted to share the situation so maybe I can get some additional help or guidance. I have downloaded the XperFirm and Flashtool latest version and downloaded the latest FTF files for my reigon.
The phone was "not" rooted and the USB debugging option was never activated.
I am able to boot in either FLASH (Power+Down) Green LED and FASTBOOT (Power+UP) blue LED. The phone is able to hold the states and get recognized in Flashtool.
Using the Flashtool I have tried to flash the FTF with full wipe in the FLASH mode, the flashing completes successfully, however when I turn the mobile on, it still remains in the same state of a blank screen at startup with no signs or LEDs to let me know its state.
I think I have lost my data anyways since I chose a full wipe including SSD and USERDATA during flashing, however I had a hope that if I am able to boot into the system, i would run some undelete apps to restore my pics.
Using the Flashtool , if I boot in FASTBOOT mode, it gets recognized and I am able to run commands to get version and check state and even I have sent the Kernel.sin and System.sin via fastboot mode as well, dont know clearly if it got thru or not. This doesnt help the situation as well. The fastboot mode somehow does not work well with the ADB command prompts. If I run "adb devices" on the command prompt, I am not able to see any devices, however it does get recognized in the Flashtool.
I think I have run out of options when the board is responding to fastboot and flash mode, however unable to boot even after a full flash.
If anyone has any other options or guidance left for me to try, then I would appreciate the help.
Thanks.
