Hi all. I saw some great chances to repartition the Memory on some Android Tablets that use Internal Removeable microSD cards for their OS.
However, can it be done on a normal Tablet?
I Mean...
I'm getting a 7 inch Marvell10 (Marvel 800mhz) Android 2.2
256MB Ram and 2GB Internal Storage.
I WANT to resize the memory partitions so the APP section & Cache gets most of anything the system doesn't need.
IS THIS POSSIBLE? you can't remove the OS memory card in this.
If anyone knows how can you point me to a tutorial or pm the instructions?
I'd also need to know how to see what my sizes already are (and what space the system needs to remain).
MANY THANKS ! x7
I am going to ask very basic question regarding ROM in Android Device.
Searched for Android Devices and found as below (different devices):
1) Memory - 1 GB RAM, 4 GB ROM
2) Memory - 1 GB RAM, 8 GB ROM
3) Memory - 1 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM
because of ROM size, prices are different from one another.
Is it just the normal internal memory which they are labeling as ROM, or does it have a different purpose altogether. Because once phone is up and running the OS is loaded in RAM and not ROM.
If OS is installed in ROM, it may occupy 1 or 2 GB, what is the use of remaining space.
1) user can install app of his/her choice
2) app data storage
3) cache / delvik cache
3) anything else
if someone purchase with Memory - 512 MB RAM, 4 GB ROM, what approx Internal Storage he/she will have to install apps?
I would appreciate your help and response.
Regards.
Hi, i have a little problem with my mediatek terminal, in settings -> storage I have something wrong.
My device has 16Gb of memory but in the storage menu appears something like in the pictures ... and in mass storage mode with usb connected to pc it say partition has 19 Mb ( on ubuntu )
Which value are right ? When i try to install something I recive a message about insufficient memory storage. What can i do to about that ?
My dev specs:
cpu: 2xARM Cortex A7 1.3ghz
android vers: 4.4.4
hardware: mt6582
total ram: 1071 mb
model: SM-G900H ( MTK6589_e_lca )
PS: For me it's weird the fact that after insert the memory card micro sd ( 2 GB ) it's sayd the card has 16 .24 GB and the phone memory is 17.84 MB ( same like UBUNTU show ), at the memory card used memory are calculated right but the real memory card are wrong.
Can i do something for right showing of that value ?
Thanks.
Hey everyone,
I bought an offbrand tablet from eBay, model name Softwinner v11 or Aystar y3 (build number says its an Astar y3, so does build.prop , "About tablet" under settings says its a Softwinner v11), running a Quad Core Allwinner A33 CPU and KitKat 4.4.2, already rooted with Kingo Root.
When I bought it, I was told it came with 16 GB of storage. As I started it up, I imediately checked the storage to check if those 16 gb where really there. On the storage screen, under settings, it showed up as having 2 internal storage, one with about 0.98 GB of space and another one with 14 GB of space. Almost the 16 GB, but that wasnt the issue.
The tablet was writing app data to the 0.98 GB internal storage, leaving me almost imediately without storage space for apps. The other 14 GB of space remained completely untouched. After further inspection, I found that the other 14GB were being used as an internal sd card, mounted at /mnt/sdcard.
Now here comes the real issue. I was messing around with it, and remenbered that I could partition my SD Card to work as internal memory. I had done this sucessfully before in my phone, so I gave it a go on the tablet, completely forgetting the fact that I had no MicroSD card on the tablet, only internal memory.
Stupid as I was, I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2236566http://
After doing step 1, I realized my mistake. Storage was completely broken. In MiniTool, it was now split between 2 discs, one with a ~10Gb partition called "POLARIS", in fat32, and another with a 2GB partition, which is unallocated.
Now, under Settings - storage, I still have 2 internal storages, except the second storage is now only 428mb and completely inacessible from Windows. DiskInfo only shows System, Data, Cache and RAM, but no internal memory or SD Card.
ES File Manager shows 2 storages, one called "sdcard", with 428.06MB of space and another called "93_81" with 10.38GB of space.
In Windows, via MTP mode, the tablet shows up as v11. If I open it, there is an "Internal Storage", with 426 mb of space. Inside that is a folder called ".android_secure" and another called "93_81". Via USB Mass Storage nothing shows up.
Attempting to copy files over 428 mb to the root or to "93_81" results in a "file is too big" error.
Is there any way to fix this issue? If not, can I return it to how it was, with 1 GB + 14 GB of storage?
