I have a GT-P5113 running the latest CM10.1 nightly.
It seems that when I restart the device, the touchscreen works perfectly. However, when I put it to sleep, or sometimes even during use, the touchscreen responds horribly to scrolling / multitouching. When turning on "show touches" in developer options, the response appears to freeze up while trying to scroll / use more than 1 finger.
Even more interestingly, when the problem arises again, multitouches work fine when using any finger BUT the thumb. It's very hard to play games without using thumbs.
This cannot be a hardware issue because it registers all fingers but thumbs properly. This can't be an issue with my thumb because this works after resetting, only until I put the device to sleep. As for software, this problem existed when I had stock rom and when I had the 02-19 nightly and the 03-04 nightly.

Was there an occasion where you had firmware which didn't cause this issue?

Yes Samsung replaced the mainboard for free. And yes it was like in your video but worse.
I made a Video for samsung to show them the bug. This bug was strange cos it disappeared sometimes after standby.

Do you have that video still? Or can you share it on YouTube?
In Russia, many users were denied warranty with such a problem.

Hello,
my Backbutton activates itself. While I am watching Videos, or whatever I do it stops shining and I am out of every application I'm using. After about half a minute it's shining again and I can use it normally. It's like pushing the button multiple times. Does anyone has an idea how to fix it? I tried different roms but it looks like an hardware failure to me.

Happened to me as well it is an issue sometimes with samsung but covered under warranty bring it in to sprint
Hit the thanks button if i helped
Sending it back for support is not an option for me. I imported my device from the US to Germany. The support at Samsung Germany told me that they are not responsible for AMOLED devices.
My second problem ist that my IMEI is crashed since I flashed a rom where the dev made a little mistake. So Samsung won't give me any support.
I thought about changing the display but the price for a new one is about 190 Euro. Way too much... I can assemble and disassemble the device but I think that cleaning the device will not solve the problem.
Any suggestions?

It has nothing to do with the display though.
That's likely the part failing:

http://stellatech.com/samsung-gt-i9020-nexus-s-ui-flex,a,en,810423.html
Verify that the one you currently have isn't simply not connected right.
Thank you. I will have a look if the part is not right connected.
Maybe I have to replace it. But in that case 25 Euro are much cheaper than 190.

This happened to me once. A day later my display completely died. I could turn on my phone, answer calls, etc the touchscreen worked, but I couldnt see anything. I had to get a new one..
I had this problem too.
I flashed a different radio, and boom!! issue resolved
I occasionally get this too. It only comes up when I'm using cm/cm based kernels though, very odd. I'm on matrix right now and it seems to Beowulf, anybody have some tips or suggestions?

I tried a different kernel and it looks like the problem is solved. I know that you should not count your chickens before they are hatched. But I really think that the kernel was the problem.
Anyway, I am just happy that my phone is working properly.
And now I am waiting for jellybean.

What kernel were you using?
It was not the Kernel!

I don't see how the kernel would have anything to do with the backbutton. Although if it worked out then hey that's awesome. Amazing how much I have learned by reading the forums on this site.:victory:
Just clean off the the backbutton, and maybe it will stop or you have a software bug.
Hi
I did try searching but couldn't fine any else with this topic open.
Sometimes when using my note the screen go off and I have to press the power button twice to get back to lock screen to login.
I knw a few have mentioned this when using LN but I have found i have the problem at random times.
I have change both my display setting locking and screen going off.

Same issue on my end. I'm stock. I use LN, but it happens when I'm not running the app. Has anyone uninstalled to test? It would be last resort for me due to all of the notes I have.
I contacted samsung and was told the normal wipe system (factory rest ) I have done that before and when asked with the same problem.
The next fix by them was to take it to a walk in centre, my tablet was sent to Samsung in about feb.
So that wont help.
I have seen sum1 say the fault only happens with auto brightness on.
So I will try with this off unless sum1 can say if the fault us still there either way.

So for some reason my gps has bad signal and can't find a lock on roms such as purity and dirty unicorn but not catalysm. The odd thing is, when I ran purity rom a few weeks ago, I never had any issues until lately. Now only catalysm rom has a working gps. Any ideas??
If you pnch the N5 at the upper left corner does it correct the problem? If so the antenna contacts between the back cover and the phone body may be loose. There are videos on YouTube that explain how to fix this, or you can RMA the device or send in for warranty repair.

That would make sense if ALL roms had the same issue but if one rom doesn't then I don't believe the connectivity of the gps chip is the issue
Are both ROMs using the same drivers?

It's funny cuz when I installed dirty unicorn and catalysm, I did the same exact setup to test and dirty unicorn has the same issue as purity while catalysm is issue free.
Hello! Sorry if my English is not great, it's not my first language.
I have a Prestigio 3400 Duo and I have two issues with my touchscreen, the multitouch function in particular. My phone is freshly factory reset, done while trying to solve this problem, and
The first problem is pretty apparent, when I'm holding two fingers on the screen in a horizontal line it registers only one point at the center of the two I'm actually pressing (that's what a multitouch test app sees, at least). This happens exclusively in an horizontal line.
The second problem I have is when I'm holding two fingers on the screen and I let one go, the other one - the one that's still holding - is not getting registered for an instant before appearing again. So when, say, I'm playing a game on the phone and my character walks and I press a button at the same time, the character stops for a second. Really annoying stuff.
Is there any solution for either of these? I saw some fix for other phones but they're exclusively for those, not mine.

Well I don't know if it was something that I've done that caused this, I don't play many games so I've noticed it only recently. I can tell you that for a while the phone was rooted - now it isn't - but I've never installed CFWs or stuff like that.

Thank you, but there's no stock rom or a tutorial there, so...
I'm bumping the thread, hoping that someone that knows how to fix the problem can see this.
I'd like to at least solve the second problem, because the first one is barely noticeable to me. I basically can't play any game with the second issue because it's really annoying. I read that sometimes these kinds of problems are when you have an app that is used to block the touchscreen of the phone, but I've never used any of those so I don't know.
I have the n915fy version of note edge. When i turn on the camera, it take about 15 -30 secs for the auto focus to respond/start working. I upgraded to lollipop 5.0.1 few days after purchase but did not take note of this issue before upgrade. When i clear camera cache and data, the problem gets fixed for the first time of camera use but problem comes back after first use of camera. What could be the cause and what is the suggested solutions.
Same problem here, not fixed yet. I noticed that autofocusing is instant if the phone is very hot...

Rightly said, i guess its a hardware issue, since updates did not fix it. The only way i get quicker focus is by tapping the phone close to the lens. Could be weird sometimes.
