I can´t install applications (apk) to the tablet. I am running 4.0.3 Comp 9.2.1.27. I have allowed the unknown sources in the security tab, but when hitting in the apk application, I got the install/cancel option, whne hitting install, the tablet doesn´t accept the option. If I hit cancel, it just cancel the installation. What should I do to be able to install apk?
Thanks
Héctor Aguirre
What app are you trying to install?
Some apps just will not install on the tablet for one reason or the other even if you have the apk file.
Also, what app are you using for the file manager on your tablet? My favorite is ES File Explorer.
I am trying to install of applications, one is Skype keyboard and the other is pulling (pulimento). I am using 2 file managers, and one is Astro, and and the other is X-plore, same problem with both. Thanks for your help.!

Try installing ES and using the ES package manager to install the file, if it doesn't work then I would say the apks you have are incompatible.
If they are system apps, they might need manually copying to /system/app/ and permissions setting to RW/R/R
install button doesn't work

I can't install any apk. I can't install anything from the Amazon app store. I attempted to install the bootloader from the Asus website and it still wouldn't work. I can install anything from the play store no problem, but with 3rd party apks the install button won't work. No errors, the install window stays open until I tap cancel. I did attempt a clean wipe of the device. After the wiped I was able to install 3rd party apps no problem, but after a couple of hours I could not it anymore just like before.

The problem is the last update from Google play services. In order to install 3rd party apps you have to uninstall the updates from Google settings ad you should to install 3rd party apks. Hopefully the next update will fix this problem.
Have you enabled Unknown Sources in settings - security?
If not, you can only install from the play store.
^^ Yea that's what it sounds like, but doesn't it usually prompt you to go to the settings to enable that option when you try to install an apk ?
It should. At least it always has for me, but then again I have not been on stock for a long time to remember that well.
And since it is 4.2, it may be another "feature" that google added to protect users (like hiding the Dev Options)
Yea I can barely remember stock either, thank God
I can remember all the RR and SoDs however

Here is the problem I am facing while installing apps from the Android market.
After I press on install, the Market apps shows either downloading or installing (right below the install button) but nothing happens. Nothing shows up in the task bar. Sometimes the app does not installed at all, and sometimes after a few attempts the apps install.
I had the problem with the stock Asus 3.2 firmware and now also with Prime 2.1.4 firmware.
Is there a way to fix this problem ? Whenever I try to install a app from Market app, I am not certain it will install in one attempt.
Go to manage applications and clear the cache for downloadmanager (or whatever the English translation is) and market. Then download again.

Thanks. It worked after I cleared the Download Manager cache.
Hi All,
Android Police have posted the new Market version 3.3.11!
Quote:
It appears an update to the Android Market is now being pushed out to handsets, and we've got the .apk file for you right now. Warning: this updated Market does not seem to work very well on Honeycomb tablets, there appears to be a number of glitches.
Download Android Market 3.3.11:
mirror 1
mirror 2
Note: Root is not required.
Note: If the Market starts force closing, just open Settings > Applications > Manage > Market, and clear data.
What's changed? So far, we've found:
New setting: Auto-update apps (presumably, sets all apps to auto-update mode, woohoo!)
New setting: Update over Wi-Fi only
New setting: Auto-add shortcuts (automatically adds homescreen shortcuts for new apps, a la Honeycomb)
Smaller font
New app drawer icon
Microphone (voice command) button in search menu
Star rating chart on app pages
Minor UI tweaks
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/1...te-update-over-wi-fi-only-shortcuts-and-more/
by installing this, it asks to replace the system app - and when i choose YES - it tries to install and then says "couldnt install app".
whats wrong ?

I am having the same issue.
Tried installing manualy by opening the .apk, install failed.
Tried clearing data and then replacing Vending.apk in system/app, rebooted and the market starts to force close immidiatly :/ really strange. Will stick with 3.2.0 till someone comes with a fix for this

Same with me- tried 'regular' installing, wiping cache/data and uninstall previous market with TiB, and also moving as 'vending.apk' to system/app + rebooting- no go on none of them...
good to see, that I am not the only one with this issue.
if you have issue installing over 3.2.0:
- delete /system/app/vending.apk
- download Market 3.1.5.apk
- rename it to Vending.apk and copy to /system/app/
- Launch Market Accept rules and quit Market
- Click on Market-3.3.11.apk
Voilà
i could solve it via another way.
settings --> apps -> manage apps --> market --> uninstall updates.
then - reinstalling market 3.3.11
issue solved!
Very unusual but after I istalled this, I cannot see any games. No result of all of thr games on the market

Is anyone seeing maps in their list of installed apps? Mine dissapeared from my installed apps, but if I search for maps, it still shows that it's installed. I have tried a few different nandroid backups, and roms and maps always disappears from my installed apps list after I update the market. I cleared data on the market too.

Today i tried to install an apk i downloaded from a company thats software i use, Touchdown for my email and contacts etc.
When i went to the download file to click on the apk to update my version it gives me the install option but i cant click on it only on cancel.
I messed around and then did the same thing though my file explorer and this time i was presented with an option to install it using package installer or juicy installer work around.
package didnt work the the installer workaround did.
Is this a problem with juicy or what?
If its a problem and they have obviously included a work around are they going to fix it?
This is a weird issue i guess idk.
Any responses would be helpful.
Go to settings>security and check the "unknown sources" box. Without that you can only install apps from the play store.

First off, we dont support piracy on xda.
To solve your problem, download a play store in apk format from sites like androidpolice etc. and push it to /system/app with permissions of rw-r-r. You are done.

Ok. Install the app directly. Download another app called link2sd. Grant superuser access. Then open app window. Click on google play. Click on actions button. see options and click "make system app". It will make it system app automatically. Then reboot your phone. If it still FC, use fix permissions option from cwm recovery.

make sure that you also have GoogleServicesFramework.apk and GoogleLoginService.APK. AFAIK you need these two as well to get the play store app to work.
superuser says my binary is outdated. when i go to update it, it crashes saying it has stopped unexpectly. on link2sd all the options under actions is launch manage reinstall unistall. i tried manage and it just took me to application settings. i hope i didnt screw up my phone rooting it last night because i cant do anything on it. google play has got to where i can go in install an app but soon as i hit accept and download it crashes. i did a factory reset last night so poot and superuser are gone. i tried to redownload superuser just now and thats when it said my binary was outdated and when i try to update it, it crashes. is this fixable or is my phone screwed up lol. i really appreciate you helping me!!!

You can disable notifications from superuser app. Also you won't loose root if you factory reset your phone. Superuser app is set as system app when you root it. Also follow what justmpm said above.

You must install the Goggle play compatible with your Android version and your phone.
Please provide the phone model, Android version and if you have a custom recovery or not,
If you are still unable to install playstore apk, i will recommend downloading gapps for your phone model. Flash them from custom recovery using install zip. This should install your playstore. No clue if it can override the pre exisiting apps. Still learning on xda.

I don't think he has a curtom recovery set up. Flashing Gapps would overwrite existing ones, but most gapps packages are configured to abort the installation if some gapps already exist.
Try this app as an alternative

He is already on root, and perhaps if there's nowhere the solution, ome simply can't live without playstore. I will advise full system wipe with data and installing a newer custom recovery and then new rom with new gapps.

Brother sorry we couldn't help you in this case because we don't know how to fix it . One thing you can do is that Google it and you will found some better response for sure
Dude, that is the easiest thing to fix, but if the OP doesn't tell us the phone model and version i wont even bother trying to fix it. OP is inactive anyways...
I've been trying to install a particular app to my phone, Nexus 4, rooted custom rom, etcetc.
The app in question was pulled from the Play store some time ago and it seems Google went further and removed the free version of the app from users devices without permission as well. I have the pro version as did many others and from what I've read, the pro version was not removed. However I flash roms and eventually lost it and that required a reinstall.
The problem: traditional methods of installing the .apk give the error "App not installed."
How can I install this app manually? The only other method I could think of was to try to root copy it to /system/app but that didn't work. And I'll reiterate, so we're clear, browsing to .apk and installing through explorer by clicking it does not allow the .apk to install. So, suggestions?
You could try sideloading it using Android Injector. (If it fails, it'll tell you why)

The app isn't warez but it is one of the unapproved apps by google now, I mainly just wanted to look for an alternate method of installing apps in case this kind of app blocking became more prevalent. You have to admit, Google did a real number on blocking this app. Thanks for the help anyway guys.
the command that worked for me was:
adb install app.apk
You can make a folder in /system/app with its name without space as folder name and copy the apk to that folder.
Apk name should be same as the folder name +.apk.
Then reboot your device.
After reboot the app will be definitely installed as a system app. But some apps might be stable but some not.
