Me too. Battery life is very short using Pacman v18.0, at most 5 hours. The screen is the process that consumes more battery. Maybe it is only a my problem, but with Fallout v.5 I didn't have this problem (but others :laugh.
Well I find the battery life good on pure CM10.
If it wasnt for the graphics glitches when browsing, it'd be a really good ROM!
I have installed Pacman v18.0 about 3 days ago and am very impressed with the ROM. No problem with battery life but one major problem with the phone randomly going into Sim Lock mode. Could be after 5 minutes, could be after 5 hours and sometimes while just using it.
PACman, way to go.
I'm using Andromadus CM10.1 and battery is good...Overall is good except Bluetooth that doesn't work yet...

Mine has about an hours worth of battery...
For now I'm switching to my sense rom
On the latest build (build 10) of Andromadus 10.1 I found that the bluetooth was fixed!
Overall, at this time, I believe that the 3 andromadus ROMs are by far the best Jellybean effords!
Thank GOD I got here...
Could someone help me with rom that includes these features?
1. The official ics look (nexus ics)
2. That includes all apps like the sensed ics got. (fM radio, voice recorder, youtube etc)
3. My wifi doesnt turn on when i use any custom rom It just says "Turning on wifi" for the whole day.
4. The settings tab normal (not the tablet type like pacman got)
....
Thanks
battery life when using pacman is sucks, only 7 hours with minimal usage, texting, phone with 3g/hsdpa signal

I'am trying different roms all the time... right now I'm using FullySamsung-1.0.1 since couple of days... battery life sucks on this rom...
I do not see the connection between battery life and "preferences and taste"...
From my experiences all JB roms for DS are draining battery very fast...

some people prefer to UV their kernels. Some people don't prefer. Some kernels allow UV, some don't. see it all comes down to preference,of course UV also may cause performance to decrease. so it stills come down to preference.

That still isn't answer for a question from first topic... "So which rom from above offers you the best battery lifetime?".
It's just general deviation about the opportunities offered by kernels...

Hmm, when ppl say try it yourself, it simply means that u would have to flash the rom to know what's best for u.
Everyone uses his/her phone differently, so basicly there is no ideal rom that pleases everyone.
Everyone will you give a different opinion in terms of battery/speed/etc. That's why it is a bit pointless in asking what's the "best rom" for the other person when the usage is different.
So no point having second doubt and just flash the phone, try every single rom, i have flash from sense to cm to ics and now back to gb.
Go ahead and experiment the roms for yourself. Today someone might give u a suggestion, the next day a another. that's why it is consider pointless in asking such question as 'which is the best can u recommend me' and much better to try it for yourself instead of being shortchange in case there is another better than that is being suggested.
Camera Issue
Does any one facing camera issue?
I tried installing many JB roms but camera lags in all while video recording.
Is there any work around for this??
Thanks..

Can someone help me wh my bluetooth isn't working on Build 12?
I can't receive any incoming file etc.

THANKS in ADVANCE Folks!!!
I am running [ROM][4.0.4] Slim ICS(T959V)-UNOFFICIAL posted by beastmode, Question is there a more updated kernel I could use with it ?
I am thinking either [KERNEL]Proton Kernel build2[ICS][TFQ] or [Kernel]ICS/CM9 LZ Kernel from Team Fah-Q (Updated 20OCT12)
I am very happy with this ROM and GPS is working great (after a few hacks from other threads) but battery life is the worst !!! I lose 5% when using Waze/GPS plugged into the car charger and about 20% overnight just sitting there, I have tried all sorts of battery apps as well as turning off wifi at night with no luck. So I am thinking that a new kernal would help.
I only use the phone for GPS and Web browsing.
Has anyone used these kernels and with what ROMS ?
Interesting in upgrading not bricking my phone and installing everything from scratch
yes i am a newbie so apologies in advance ! Thanks.
Neither of those kernels (nor, really, anything else) is going to make Waze or any other GPS app stop using as much power as they do. If you wanted to change your scheduler and governor, those might make a difference... but anything with working GPS is a Herring kernels using the same paths to talk to the GPS.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. Even if GPS is a battery sucker what can I do about the fact that leaving the phone on takes so much battery ?
Could you suggest other stable kernel/ROMS for the SGH-T959V that support GPS and have decent battery life ? I like the simplicity of ICS and since all I do with this phone is browse the web and use GPS I really don't need any bells and whistles.
Thanks.
The two best ICS at the moment are probably Ultragen 1.01 (be sure NOT to use 1.00) or HebMIUI, which is the only ICS that still gets irregular updates.
The big thing to do with Waze is, if you don't NEED to stare at the screen, turn it off and just listen to the audio directions. Sucks down a LOT less battery that way, though it's still a bit painful.
Regarding general ways of improving battery life... look into Greenify if you haven't yet. Can tell apps to stop running in the background if you don't actually want them to. Just remember NOT to Greenify Waze if you don't want it to shut down with the screen off, or your music app, or anything else you actually want to use while you're not actively looking at it. Oh, and avoid Greenifying your email too. Though it's funny, it's not a good way to find out about new messages.

There's no such thing. Better battery life is completely dependant on you. Since we all use our phones in our own unique ways, battery life will be different for everybody regardless of the ROM.
That being said there are a few great threads that will show you how to get the most out of your battery on ANY ROM. Look up T.J. Bender's thread The Total Newb's Guide to Wakelocks and/or Insanely Better Battery Life When Idle by Skipjacks. They're well worth your time if you want your battery to last longer.
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.
Thanks for your reply!

Thanks for the reply. I know the battery varies depending on the user, I was just trying to ask and see if what other people are getting on other custom roms. As you can see there are a lot of Roms in out dev thread, picking out one thats good is hard enough xD. Trying to compare better/ smooth roms with other ones. And btw I was not asking how to improve it xD

Jelly Bean Leak 3 :good:
I have tried them all...
Sorry But Kexec doesnt play well with the battery
And non-kexec ones have heavy Bugs
So after a year of wandering and flashing...i came to the conclusion that JB Leak3 has the best battery backup...atleast on my phone .....:good::good:
If you are counting Leak 3 as stock...I have heard JBX 1.0 Kernel gives a long battery life...however i havent tried it personally....So go ahead do some searching and flash any custom rom and then the JBX 1.0 kernel over it...
Thanks! I'll try that!

You're right, JBX won't load on the jb leaks because it requires a based kexec ROM.

That first question has been answered here:

And JBX has been thoroughly explained by the original developer in the JBX thread over in the development section. Read over that and ask relevant questions there.

I apologize for being disagreeable but my experiences with the ROMS suggests there is more to the story then a blanket statement about how much you use your phone determining the battery life you will have.
thank you for your suggestion to look at the jbx thread

No need to apologize. My experience has been that there's tons of things (apps, scripts, mods, kernels, CPU settings, etc) that will make battery life better regardless of the ROM and tons of things (rogue apps, CPU settings, poor data signal, wakelocks, etc) that will make it worse regardless of the ROM. With all of the variables and available options it doesn't seen to me that someone can simply pin good or bad battery life on the ROM, alone.
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.
I think numa has the best battery life till now over the many roms ive tried . .

Hi there, despite this topic I'll like to know users experiences with kernel on the Nexus5 since I'm looking for one based on battery duration. See I tested n3oHammer, franco and ElementalX from this three the best was n3oHammer but in recent Cyanogenmod updates it stop working so I'll need to change since Cyanogenmod kernel drain battery to fast, any advice? Any configuration on any kernel to get this battery duration?

In my personal opinion I would run Chaos Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551441
Comes with NXT app to tweak it. You could easily change the clock, voltage, governor, and other things in combination with screen brightness, Gravity Box's smart radio and a few other things to achieve maximum battery life. I am not a fan of CM never was never will be.
I personally could care less about battery life as long as I get through the day doing what I need to do when I need to do it. I don't do all the little things to prolong battery life. If I made it through the day and had 50% left well I would have to charge it because the next day it would die and who knows if I would use it more or less.

So you admit that you know these threads aren't allowed yet you post it anyways? That's going to go over well.
OP, as you know these threads are prohibited and will be closed. Best advice I can give you is try a few out and see which best suits your needs. Battery life depends greatly on which apps you run and your overall usage, both of which vary per user.

hey guys. I just bought an Nexus5(well...like 1 motnh ago actually) and I realized that I think I like CyanogemMod better then the default android(used cyanogen mod on my Galaxy S1 for 3 years).
My question is, how is the battery life on CyanogenMod compared to the stock default android 4.4.2 rom that nexus comes with?
Thnx in advance.

There's no good answer to your request imo.
You should check this out to have an idea of the average battery life. (or have a look at CM11's thread)
For instance you can install more apps thanks to root permissions so you will be able to install more apps and use more battery but it doesn't mean that the battery life is worse.
One advantage is that you can try different kernels and settings to find the best configuration as per your needs.

As with any battery life comparison, it's almost impossible to answer properly because there are far too many variables.
You'll get various answers saying it's much better / worse / the same. Ultimately the responses will be of limited value to you, because everyone's usage is different.
Thankfully you can always backup and try something out. Revert if if makes things worse.
Find out what's best for YOUR usage and preference, not someone else's...
And repeat this for every device / ROM / kernel combination
Battery life is what you make of it. I can make my phone last 8 hours or around a day and a half.
to prolong battery life I recommend turning off mobile data and sync when not in use. You can look into tasker (I think) to turn it on at specific times. Quick tiles help out or the app "power toggles" which I use
Ok, thnx guys. I think I will make an nanDroid backup and install cyanogen mod and see what happens.
