[APP][ICS-JB4.x]|How to create a floating app switcher - Eee Pad Transformer Android Development

How to create a floating app switcher.
If you want to do one-click-switch among apps, a floating app switcher, as shown in Fig.1, may help you a lot. The switcher window is floating on top of any running app or home-screen, and it can be hidden or show at your will. This post tells you one easy way to create such a floating widget.

Fig 1.
1. Prerequisite:
1.1. install "Elixir 2" and "Elixir widget"
1.2. install "Widget Window"
1.3. install "Tasker"
All can be found in google.play.
2. Build Procedure:
2.1. Create a Elixir 5X1 widget
click an X icon, select "recent application" and then app index (from 1 to 9)
repeat the above step for every X icon
adjust label, icon images, background transparency as your like
name it, for example, as "app_switcher"
create the widget.
Instead of "recent app", you can choose your favourite apps as action items.
2.2. Create a Widget Window
Run "Widget Window"
click menu button and then select "New Window"
select "Elixir 5X1" as widget type
click "Restore Button"
choose "app_switcher"
click "Create" button
Now you would be back in "Widget Window"
Name the window, for example, as win_app_switcher
resize and relocate the window as your like
2.3. Create a Tasker task to show/hide the window
Run Tasker
create a task, for example, "aswitch"
switch on/off the window is down through tasker-plug-in "Widget Window"
Fig 2 gives more detail of the task
Fig. 2
2.4. Create a task shortcut for "aswitch" on desktop, or create such a button in a Elixir widget (or widgetsoid widget) in notification area, as shown in Fig 3.
Now, you can click the "aswitch" button to toggle the floating app switcher.

Nice! I'll try this, but for now, gmd has gestures to switch from app to app and to see the last apps and chose one
Sent from my S150 using xda app-developers app

You can also use "quick launch" to set a keyboard shortcut to the tasker task and therefore toggle it on and off with search + w for example.

It looks great. Try it now
It is quite good. One thing I would prefer if it minimized to the start button itself (the 4 square icon thing) rather than as a bottom taskbar on top of my dock and then I minimize it to the button. What I said in my review.

Google actually has a
few other themes built-in. You just need
to uncover them with this trick.
You'll need a custom launcher that can
access Android Activities for this to
work, like Apex or Nova—which we
highly recommend downloading
anyway , since they're awesome. Once
you've got one installed, just follow these
steps:
1# Long-press on the home screen and
head to Shortcuts > Activities from
the menu that pops up.
2# Choose "Google Keyboard" (or
"Android Keyboard (AOSP)"
depending on your device and
Android version), and head to
"Android Keyboard Debug
Settings." This will create a
shortcut on your home screen.
3# Tap that new shortcut and you'll
get some advanced settings for
your stock keyboard. Choose
"Keyboard Theme" to pick a new
theme for your keybaord.
You can choose from Basic (which is the
pre-Gingerbread theme), Stone,
Gingerbread, and IceCreamSandwich
(the default on ICS and higher), with a
few variations. Pick which one you like,
and enjoy!

FAQ
Why I cannot uninstall Sidebar Launcher?
The "Lock screen" feature requires activating device administrator, you have to deactivate it in security settings before installing.
There are two ways to uninstall it:
1. Open Sidebar Launcher, go to settings page, find the "Uninstall" option. (Recommend)
2. First, go to "System settings" -> "Security settings" -> "Device administrators" deactivate "Sidebar Launcher", then uninstall Sidebar Launcher in a normal way.

It skips the screen off animation. Is it possible to add it back? Maybe power off with root to achieve this?
I use this widget "Screen off - Widget & tile".

We don't have double tap to sleep on stock.
I always use double tap to sleep features that come with Nova Launcher. Great works, regardless

As mentioned yes unfortunately there is no double tap to sleep on stock unless you use a custom launcher.

You mean on Nova?
Is granting accessibility access to an app a safety concern?
