[Q] Best Rom for gaming (JB) - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have almost every rom but none runs games on full speed though GB runs those games perfectly.
Can anyone suggest any rom in which gaming is lag free .
Currenctly on hellybean .

tried jellyshot too. which kernel are you using? and please do tell me your kernel settings.

CM 10.1 with these settings makes a big difference.

Can play all my games just fine on CM10 using devil kernel. Pretty sure other 4.1.2 based roms would do just fine.

Devil kernel is supported on 4.1? Sauce please

I'm using CM 10 Alpha 3 with Revolution Kernel...
But its laggy ....
I have tried it on stock ddlf2 but it does not work. it starts till the menu and force close anyone facing such problems or has anybody got it working on ddlf2.
CM10 A4:
Works fine [draw distance 20%]
~15-20FPS so it is not perfect, but playable

But you said it's working fine?
GTA 3 works well on SL, and it's a good game too.
GTA III (v1.3) used to be playable on ICS. I didn't try it on Jelly Bean 4.1.2 for our device b'cuz I forgot to save the data files.
GTA Vice City sucks on Jelly Bean for our device.

This works perfectly & smooth on DDKP3 Stock ROM .

Need Stock Kernel

Hi all, i have custom rom jellyShot 2.8 (4.2.1) on my Nexus S... with custom kernel...there is a problem with my phone... while playing games the touchscreen and hardware keys become non responsive... but game keeps running... i have to pull out battery every time... Devs said that is bcoz kernel...i hv tried many other Custom kernel with many custom roms... but when i was on stock rom didnt faced that issue....
So i need Link on Stock Kernel for my 4.2.1 rom
as well as link of Stock rom for my Nexus S... both flashable via CWM recovery...
Thanks...

Problem persists in v2.1?
Show dev logcats.
Or you are running too heavy games for NS..
Only you are moaning about that problem

I bought modern combat 4 in the play store and tried playing it on my nexus s, the stuttering is really horrible, i cant play it..
Have you guys got this and how is it on your device? Is there any way i can improve this?

Buying a new device with better hardware is the only option I'm afraid..
EDIT: or maybe go back to gingerbread..
Me Gusta!
I'm using slimbean and it doesn't lag or stutter. I'm not over clocked. What ROM are you running?

Gingerbread uses less ram as a system, and is a lot lighter in everything. So there's more ram left for the game

A GB ROM -> 90mb + 5mb gapps, so 95mb to load
A jellybean rom-> 140mb +80mb gapps, so 220mb to load

You're right. It's pretty amazing... But I'll probably stick with cm 10.1 because it has HWComposer working... Super smooth UI
I think Lolation will create a new xgamerZ rom based on CM10.1 soon
Yes it is a excellent rom for gaming but is very light and basic as compared to CM roms
Performance of xgamerz alongwith Jb 4.3 / 4.2 will be a great combo for all Galaxy SL users
