My Xperia J has CM10 installed in English, and voice recognition set to Italian.
Whenever I try to issue voice commands, I only get web searches instead.
Examples:
"Chiama Carlo" ("Call Carlo")
"Guidami a Piazza del Campo 1 Siena" ("Drive me to...")
all of these, after having correctly identified the words I spoke, go straight to web searches when I issue the commands in Italian. If I switch the voice recognition settings to the default English, and issue the same commands in English, they get recognized as commands and I can successfully call Carlo / get driving directions to Siena.
I looked everywhere but couldn't find any other issues similar to mine, so I created issue 1865 on freeXperia's issue tracker (forgive me but I cannot link to external sites yet )
Another test I'm thinking about doing is setting the global system language to Italian and see if voice actions in Italian work.
Can anyone else whose system language is set to something different than their voice recognition language confirm or deny this issue?

update: when setting system language to Italian and voice language to Italian, voice actions work halfway: they identify the "call" action but are not able to identify contacts bein called.
For example, if I have a contact named "Mario Rossi" and I issue voice command "chiama mario rossi" (i.e. the Italian equivalent of "call ..."), the system will issue a call to the nearest business whose name matches "mario rossi", but will not call my contact.

its been an awesome time for me and my german o2 tornado (xda phone) since the wm6 rom releases.
seriously, didnt expact that few bugs and problems
but i've got 2 questions that, if answered, would make the roms (almost) perfect for me:
1. any chage to change the language of voice command?
Its not a problem for me to say "appointment" or "at work" but the german names are a bit funny to pronounce in english (my brother Tobias is called Toe-be-us for example)
2. live messenger has some really nice gimmicks, for example sending pictures. but against the wm5 version chosing the camera symbol doesnt start the nice new camera software but some kind of camera inside the pictures and videos application. know what i mean? how can i link the camera symbol to the camera.exe?
Had to change from 3 problems to 2 cause i solved one myself (application buttons)
Anyone ideas about the other 2?

I would love to have voice command in my own language but I am not brave enough to assume microsoft is working on alternative languages right now. It is not like changing the interface language. You must almost start from scratch for each additional language. Still, german may have a chance. did you check the microsoft web page? maybe they have some information there.
Ad 1. I am pretty sure it is not possible. I have to use Polish Vista bundled with my laptop The operating system is localised but the voice command of the OS is not. Exactly the same with opera browser. If desktop operating system do not support other languages natively I would not count on the portable ones.

I downloadd the official rom from HTC for my Tytn. I reinstalled favorite program Microsoft Voice Command 1.6. Everything works perfectly except for the incoming notification CID. I have set VC to announe incoming calls through the speaker. I do not use any Bluetooth headsets. Are there any tweaks or patches available. thanks

Microsoft_Voice_Command_US_SP_1.60 seems to work under WM6 (now ROM for tornado dopod Asia WWE ) with my Qtek8310, but I can’t manage to add the “Voice Edition” item into Contact Menu for voice record.
Any idea?

Can you explain this? What does Voice Command have to do with recording? I dont see any use of a Voice Command menu item as it works without any neccessary recording for each contact.
And again: anyone ideas how to change language to recognize german phonemes?
Have to bring my question more on top again.. sorry for pushin another thread on page 2 though..
Is MS Voice Control part of WM6 or still separate program. If so, how did Phil integrate it to his ROM? Can i do the same with a german version?
Any clues? german voice recognition would be so great for me and i guess all the other krauts in here

There was an error at the end of the installer.
BUT it works ! Now my WWE WM6 ROM speaks French

on my ROM AthineOS i have remove the official htc kaiser dialer and smartdialer and i have the standard WM Dialer this one have already smartdialer (WM)

when install this dialer HERE including already HTC Smardialer
but.. this one not found My Greek contacts.. found only English contacts..
with default wm dialer with default wm smartdialer find any contacts when push the numbers
when i want to find bob must push "262" HTC Smartdialer find bob only
WM smart dialer with "262" find bob and βοβ
so can have greek with htc smartdialer? or with other way on this dialer on the link?
Youn can find some clue on How to Change T9 Dictionary Language. More information can be found in this thread.
But I never try it, coz I use Chinese Language, which is more complex to do that that on an English ROM must use a seperate app.
The best smart dialer program for Chinese is called CeleDial, developed by Yonsm in 2007. Its English version though, does support multiple western language addons. Please check here. In the zip downloadable from the site, there are two files, the cab I'm sure it will support Greeks if you add a language file in the folder. But it will change a dial pad for you. It is a very nice-look and finger-friendly pad, but unfortunately the pad does not support 3G video call, since it was last updated in 2007, and 3G is not available in China at that time. (Strange it is still compatible all the way through WM2005, WM5, WM6, WM6.1 and WM6.5 now).
There is another exe file there, use this exe you don't need the cab, just paste a shortcut of this exe to windows startup folder. And this way it will not change the dialpad, only act as an addon for dialing program. But I'm not sure in this way it support additional language or not.
The advantage of CeleDial is: It will read from contacts, call history by any clue from your T9 input. Example if you have a contact named John Smith and his no. is 0123456789, you can just dial from the pad 'john', 'smith', 0123, 234 or 6789 to locate the contact, any along with you input more clue,the target range will narrow down. It is especially useful if you have many contacts. Like me I have more than 900 contacts named in different languages. But I never use the 'contacts' function of the phone, every time I want to look for somebody just go to the phone pad and dial some clue.

I really enjoy my NxS but I'm unable to change the language of voice dialer. When I go to select my native language on the phone setting (recognition language), it's work with every vocal item (like search) but the voice dialer still stay in english.
I've not find solution on forum : I've read to reselect language but it is useless for me.

on my old phone -HTC tattoo- I had romanian language and I would like to instal it on my nexus. the thing is my searches on google got me nowhere! any ideea about what can I do?
I sometimes just wanna voice dial a number and I get all sorts of results, for example I said "eu cosmote" and the phone understood "you should suck this"!

Hey, so without further ado i'll just describe my problem.
I just got my S6 edge and everything is perfect, except something that might seem not important but really irritates me:
I'm from Israeli, so obviously my mother tongue is Hebrew and so are my contacts.
I'm used to call using T9 method, the problem is i'm also used to English as my interface language, can't stand the Hebrew because it also changes the interface directions and confuses me a lot.
The problem is when my phone language is English there are only English letters on the dialer pad, and it doesn't allow me to look for a contact in Hebrew.
I looked for a way to add or change T9 language without any luck.
On my previous phone (S4) i used an alternative dialer, Ex Dialer, which was great and allowed me a lot of options, including adding a T9 language.
I would use it again now but I'm really not interested in rooting my phone, after rooting and too much flashing practically ruined my S4, and without rooting there's a problem that prevents the Ex Dialer app from cleaning unanswered calls and i have to open the stock Phone app each time I missed a call to clean it.
I'm looking for a way to use the stock dialer but change its language to Hebrew without having to use Hebrew as my main language, or any other alternative solution.
