[Q] Touchwiz and CM10.1 - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been considering several ideas concerning touchwiz and cyanogenmod. I really like the look and the features of Cyanogenmod, yet I like the multi window features of touchwiz, as well as the stock Samsung apps. Is there any way to modify Cyanogenmod to include the touchwiz framework so that I can run android 4.2.2, have the look and feel of vanilla android, yet have multi window and stock Samsung apps? Help would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry at this point in time and possibly forever it is not possible as multi Window is part of touchwiz. TW is closed source and will never be implemented into aosp anything. If you want an aosp look you can change your launcher and possibly flash a theme that's aosp.

I know TW is closed source, and that launchers are available, but I would like the flexibility and features of CM with multiwindow. I have also seen several other TW threads with the S2 and other Galaxy devices where a rom was injected with TW. Isn't there just a way to insert the touchwiz.res framework files along with anything else needed into an aosp rom?

[Q] Current ROM that contains Samsung features

I wasn't able to find it anywhere in the original development, none of the ROMs even mention it. Some of the Samsung features were nice, like smart stay, direct call, smart alert, etc.; and I wanted to know if there was any ROM that had these features still in it.
Or maybe there is a program that lets you download these apps/features standalone.
Thanks
I'm using CleanRom and it has all the good stuff that I used (namely Smart Stay and S-Memo). During the install, you can optionally include most all of the Samsung apps. It's still based on the stock rom.
Clean rom, synergy, beans, the new jelly bomb, I'm sure there might be more
Anyrom that is stock TW and not AOKP/CM.
Like everyone has said and will say, you're looking for a TouchWiz rom.
Edit: Ninja'd lol

JellyWiz is the only JB TW rom.

I Need AOSP/AOKP ROM Opinions

What, in your opinion, is the best AOSP/AOKP ROM for the Verizon Galaxy SIII that is based on the latest SOURE CODE (4.2.1)?
Thanks in advance!

you wont find one. AOSP and VZW software are independent of each other.
do some research for yourself. visit the original development section for AOSP options, and developement for TWouchwiz options.
check out Jellybeans, its got AOPS theming with TW functionality.

The AOSP developers are no longer developing 4.1.1 based ROMs they are making ROMs based on the 4.2.1 source code. If you want AOSP ROMs go to the original android development section. If you want ROMs based on the official ota then go to the android development section. Just so you know AOSP ROMs are never based on official ota updates but on source codes released prior to any ota by any carrier which is why they are the first to develop the latest version of Android. I can't give an opinion on the AOSP ROMs as they are all in beta and will have problems. In the meantime check out the ROMs in the android development section while the AOSP developers work out the kinks to their ROMs.

This is true. I'm looking for AOSP or AOKP based on the 4.2.1 source code. Not a fan at all of TW... I like having that Vanilla Android feel.

here you go

If you like that vanilla feel then why are you asking for AOSP ROMs? With the exception of the Pure Google ROM, AOSP ROMs are not vanilla looking.

Rbarnett, I know what you mean by vanilla. I tried all the asop roms and I gotta say I liked liquid smooth the best. Rc9, built on 4.1 and still available, has a lot of nice features that the newer and less developed beta3 (4.2) does not. All the 4.2 ROMs have busted Bluetooth right now but besides for that they seem to run pretty good. If you don't mind some minor bugs, they are all pretty good to play around with.

Basically a ROM that looks as if Nova launcher or Apex launcher is running... but has samsungs touchwiz removed. Also all the menus are basic ICS and not touchwiz menus. I'm glad you get what I'm saying.
I'll check out Liquid smooth RC9 then since I need working Bluetooth.
Thanks for the recommendation.

Stock Samsung Camera on AOSP

Are we able to flash the stock Samsung Camera on an AOSP ROM?
Written with a "Vengeance" by my GS3.
I believe that's a no, since the TW camera is basically tied into the framework, etc.

A lot of the AOSP roms are adding the option of flashing the TW camera now. Beans build does and so does Synergy I think. Make a request in the thread maybe

You can install one of many camera apps from the playstore, a personal favorite of mine is procapture https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neaststudios.procapture&hl=en

[Q] TouchWiz on AOKP/AOSP roms?

Hi everyone
Have a question to you, especially to devs.
Is it possible to make or port or cut/draw TouchWiz system UI to AOSP/AOKP ROMs?
It's important for me, because I'm using a lot my Tab 2 10.1 3G and stock rom is lagging.
I don't know - can I cut TouchWiz from Tab 3 (Android 4.3) and "paste" it to Tab 2? I'm using Dhollman ROM now and AOSP status bar is... to be honest... irritating
Thanks in advance for interest and help.
I think it's a MAYBE (really hard, but maybe), but it will require A LOT of work and it will become even more laggy and unstable than your current ROM.
I recommend you to install CyanogenMOD 10.1.3 STABLE, I got no bugs, lags or even freezes on system....

good luck bye:good::good:
You mean uninstall AOSP Launcher (Trebuchet)? But what about notification bar? I'd like to have it on the top of the screen and like this as it is on stock 4.2.2.

AOSP on S7 and other Exynos Devices

Hi XDA Community,
Why developers could not use the source code from a TouchWiz Kernel for an AOSP ROM. Touchwiz is based on aosp or I'm wrong?
Touchwiz is built on AOSP correct but Samsung have made loads of changes (annoyingly but makes touchwiz better) and Samsung do give us developers source with thier OSRC website but the source they give is not enough to get a fully functional build of say CM or any other of your favourite Roms

Thanks for the Information :good:
May I ask what kind of libs or drivers are not in the publicly available source code? Because I thought that it would be possible to 'just' pull the libs and stuff from current Kernel or within /system/lib/
Now I am not a pro if talking about reverse engineering or whatever, but isn't it possible to extract necessary source from device or maybe fully decompile the Stock Rom? If all I said is the biggest bullcrap ever please tell me.
