Vanilla RootBox Q&A - Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G

Post all Q&A discussion about rootbox rom here:

Plan on releasing a features list, and/or some screenies? Just a suggestion. For some people that may be the difference maker. *cough*. Lol. I'll try this ROM.

yep, needed a break from trying to figure out the new kernel so I thought this would be a change.
There are a couple bugs so far and I am sure there may be more... It's a nice rom for a first build.
I had to edit the default.xml in order to get the repo to sync as they have moved on to 4.2.2 source and we are not ready for it yet...

Is there any way I can pull the kernel and try it out? I've always wanted intellidemand

x2 kernel
Just thoughti would throw it out there and not ask when, but if there is a chance the x2 kernel could be zipped to flash? Always have used the blue lightning kernels on my blaze and am not stopping now! Lol thanks racing for all you do to make this phone blaze!!!
---------- Post added at 05:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:48 AM ----------
I also have the issue and cannot logcat, but wondering if there is a way to switch the search button and menu button around? It would be a work around for now?

I changed my ROM since I needed the menu button. But I'm kinda stupid I am a little sure that there's a setting to change hardware buttons to do something else. Will go back to this ROM on the weekend!

I can't get it to work. I have placed it in system/media and local/data but I still get the stock at&t animation. I am rooted running the stock 4.0.4 rom. I have changed the permissions to meet those of other files in the directories but nothing seems to do the trick. Someone wanna offer a hand?
(edit) made sure to specify my rom version.

Stock kernel doesn't allow custom boot animations - you'll need to flash a kernel that supports it. Check the dev section for them.
Will that trip my flash counter?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Not if you use recovery to flash as opposed to Odin. Plus there is a thread somewhere in dev I think with info that allow you to reset the counter.
What kernel is suggested? And what benefits would it bring to the table?

This thread has links to mohan's kernels
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28350575
It's got a modified ramdisk which gives you the ability to use custom boot animations and init.d support.
Seanscreamz' latest ROM thread also has links to similar kernels, but they may have been adjusted further to work more specifically with his ROM; mohan's kernels are pretty much stock.

Yes! While I've had no problem with Gingerbread it's about time that we put this S3 Snapdragon to use. We are fully capable of running Jellybean, and likely Keylime Pie. I only purchased this phone in the first place because it's a good cheap, yet powerful hardware, that could go far with the right development.

Rofl love that "the other guys backup"
Mine wasn't meant to be easiest just slightly more convenient and familiar. There was a cry for a cwm solution and since I didn't know how to build a cwm update I debloated Thomas's stock and prerooted and did a nandroid. If I had known dwitherell would post his mere hours later I wouldn't have bothered.
So how's this for ironic? We give Sammy and t-mo the middle finger and say "screw you, we'll do it our way" and they respond with "oh yea? OTA, muthaf***as!"

I tested almost 2 days and everything was working. (data, wifi, BT,GPS,calls). The ROM does have root access, I installed Root Explorer and follow directions to set permissions for the app. Drove me nuts for a few minutes thinking I screwed something up. Any app that requires root access will ask to set permissions. Highly customizable ROM. CAM works same as CM9 from TFQ. Give it a go and let me know what you think

If you use Titanium Backup, be patient with it. You have to answer a million questions about giving root access. It eventually grants acess.

Beautiful rom, MIUI was my rom of choice when I had my ATT SGS2. Having run into any issues yet, except I can't apply themes. Also, when I've used MIUI in the past, I was able to swipe the notification bar a certain way and open up the app drawer. I think there was a zip or something to make that doable, but it's been a while so I can't remember. Is there something like that available for this rom? Is there, or will there be a fix for the theme issue?
Thanks alot for all the work that went into this.

This is most likely Epic modem standard, but you can use Effsi's modem swapper zip to switch to Nexus if you want. If it's Nexus modem standard, you can use the same zip to get back to Epic modem.
