I'm wondering if i can add chinese support on my smartphone without commercial apps.
I have seen on a forum that we can add some languages on T9 by modifying the register. But this method need the associated T9 dlls that are on other smartphone roms... I have already ask if someone has the chinese one but nothing
Can anyone help me?

I'd like to tell you that a Chinese ROM would be the best solution.
Is there a way to change the language for the dictonary/spellcheck?
I live in Sweden and would like to be able to text in swedish and have the spellcheck enabled for Swedish language! Would also be nice if I could use the special characters on the keyboard!
Can someone help me please, is there a file that I have to replace or what do I have to do?

I'm from Poland and some smart people here just found that all required files for T9 PL settings are already on Touch Pro.
They just change some available languages on T9 (registry settings) and it works like hell Afair their exchange Italian for Polish. There is CAB file and steb by step guide to change settings for Polish language but I belive it can be easly adopted for other languages.

I know that you dont speak polish but try to use google translator to get this thread "readable" It really works

It's sad because the fonts apparently supports it. At least they support chinese as some of my contact have chinese name and they appear properly in the text editor.
What's really missing is the IME or a virtual keyboard

It's sad when a product is restricted to iso-latin. Even if the product was not intended for outside of the US market a good chunk of the population in the US speak and use a second language on a daily basis. Whether it's Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese, Russian or something else.
I18N is a pain, and managing different IME is another bigger one so I understand why it was postponed to a future date.

somebody should help us (Arabic language speakers) to fix this G1 phone Arabic support issue ,,, when I read the roadmap and did not find any plans to support Arabic, i felt disappointed...
I can't read any Arabic text msg's nor the g1 browser is supporting arabic websites ,,
please somebody should deal with this issue seriously

what we need to it work?
i have some java program for it but when i convert them it netmite there r not work.
some java app in arabic and persian lng dont use unicode metod for display char. but app read text in unicode and rebult it by bitmap.
it`s only work for standalon app not for os
but problem is that our converted java not access to sms db in G1!

It's JF1.4 (RC30) with arial as the fallback font. You can read arabic msgs and websites but no writing yet.
Same goes for everyone else: If you need your native alphabet, just replace DroidSansFallback.ttf with whatever font that supports your language.

I am using a version of IGO that I found on site ppcwar**. I don't know if I can quote it ?
Personaly I canceled all the TTS that I don't care about.
If nobody helps you in these 2 days , this WE I could try to extract from my computer the TTS in arabic language IF THERE IS inside.
Then I sent it to you.

Ok ive done alot of research and cant find any solution to this. Lets say me and someone else want to text in russian which has alot of different symbols and characters. We both install the same Russian keyboard however it wont send the sentences we make.
any ideas ?
i dont want to make both of our phones fully russian , just the optional keyboard
