Facing low mic volume issue - Samsung Galaxy R i9103

My Galaxy R is having a very low microphone volume, during calls.
This also happens when I try sound recorder, the recorder bars dont move much and very low volume is recorded.
And the incall volume works well when on speakerphone.
Any inputs ? for a solution ..

Actually the phone is out of warranty now..
Is this a software problem or hardware problem

Mine was a hardware fault, and since our issues are similar I believe yours should be hardware fault too. If your phone is out of warrenty at least try getting a quote and see if its reasonable to repair since without the mic/damaged mic renders phone almost useless for making calls. Or probably you can try a local phone repair, though I am not sure how reliable it would be.

[Q] Low music volume on earphones Galaxy S2

Hi,
Just converted to android from iphone.
When listening to music via earphones, im noticing the volume isnt that loud even when ive turned it up to the max (15).
Ive seen other posts explaining how to get into service mode and amend some volume settings, but this only applies to in call volume. Im looking to increase the volume when listening to music.
The current volume is def too low.
Bump.. Need help!
Using sennheiser cx180, getting amazing sound quality
any fix for this yet? really annoying!
bump
that makes two of us now. please someone nut this out
Bump. Same problem
Same problem here.
And another one here with same problem.
When I increase "Media volume" it only increases volume until it gets to about 50% on the bar, after that nothing happens when I continue to raise it to a full bar.
Bump same problem here, up full its about 3/4 the volume of my iPhone, its fine in quiet environments but and ambient noise at all and you hear it over this. Its just one of the many frustrations of this phone when it comes to music. Seriously thinking about eBaying it,
Cyanogen and MIUI teams are looking into porting their ROMs to the Galaxy S 2. That should fix everything
Hey guys is there a fix for this yet?? I am running lite'ning Rom and even before this the volume from music through the headset is so so low!!! In ambiant places like the bus or walking through the city u can forget talking to anyone or listening to music!!!
Is there anything that can boost it??? On my old iphone when i jailbreaked it i got an app that mad it very loud that i could not put it On full lol... Pls guys if anything please reply!!!! :-(
Anyone with any solotion to this please??? its the only real fault with the phone

Had the same problem...
Hey, I had the same problem with my unlocked Galaxy S II, The volume would not go up even at 15, same level of sound on all numbers. All I did was reboot it and now it works fine. you should try it too
seriously this is the phone that is apparently the 'best of 2011', yet it has such a huge glaring bug like this? To shock new buyers who were told this phone was great?
This is a dealbreaker. Volume on a phone matters. Why hasn't a solution been offered, or rather why is this such a concealed ill-discussed problem?
I don't think it's quite a bug or Samsung's fault. I've been using original Ipod earbuds from the Apple Store and they work like a charm. But when I try to use some sony headset, the sound is all noisy and it's quality sucks. I think that there may be a problem like drivers or something on how the signial is sent to the terminal.

BUMP!!
Same problem here, what is going on here??
I shouldn't have to root and mod my phone to be able to hear a call on the street or to listen to music. Which isn't a solution anyway.
WTF??
had anybody contacted samsung support?
Still nobody knows what is wrong?
My other media players, computers, hifis all play at ok volumes, so the problem is with the phone..
Any input appreciated

Can try this by SuperCurio. VoodooLOUDER is for SGSIIs but it is paid* and also Root.
*From Market Description
Only after its fully confirmed by a wizard that the application will work on your device, you're allowed to purchase it.
Simple answer: it's a commercial app accessible via a free compatibility detection.

Think right now that is about all that you will get w/o hardware hacks or something directly from Samsung.
I use Voodoo Control App on my GS1 with a Voodoo kernel and it works like a charm.
Voodoo + PowerAmp + Bose in-ears = Pure Sonic Enjoyment.
There are from what i know a few fixes for this (i think)
If you are running Cyanogenmod7.1 you have the DSP Equalizer that helps to boost the volume of your device.
Ive heard of a App on the market Called Volume plus (never used it but from searching on the internet ive heard of this)
And then if you are using Power Amp you can have full control of adjusting volume through the settings in the music player

[Q] noise during call..

Hi,
I have a very annoying problem on my i9003. On normal voice calls, I can hear incoming voice crystal clear but the person on the pther end invariably complains of a buzzing noise which subdues mine, I tested it by calling on my phone and listening and I observed it changes with position change. Its practically impossible to talk using this phone.
Does anybody else experience this? How did you fix it if u did?
Why does this happen? Any solution ?
Can I take it to any Samsung store and get it replaced?
I flashed my phone a good number of times, does the warranty still hold good or will I have to pay for the hardware prob(if it is) ?
Please help!
Don't worry just see
If you activate dsp manager or other sound equaliser software?
If you want send it to service center then flash your regional firmware.

I thought the problem was fixed but it only got resolved momentarily or just reduced maybe ...Please tell me how to fix it which software should I use to fix audio properties and what settings should I use, how do i know what's wrong, this problem persists in spite of flashing my phone with different firmwares... its too bugging ...the moment I change the angle of the phone in a particular direction the buzzing sound starts on the receiving end ..
If problem still persist after flash them may be its hardware failure just go to seed CD center and exchange your phone.
I have replaced my speaker after 1 month of purchasing so you cannot determine what's wrong ?

I have flashed my phone so isn't my warranty void ? I bought the phone through an online store can I get it replaced with the local samsung service center?
I don't know Online purchase policy but usually warranty is not void.
Before go to service center make sure you have flashed regional firmware and phone is not rooted. Then you will get your warranty.

Flash stock FW and get it checked at the Service Centre... that's it!

Help me to buy an original HTC MHL Cable and an original HTC One X+ 2100mha battery, i'll try to add full battery support for One S and video-out at [email protected], i read somewhere that FullHD support is crappy
Other things you can do:
Help me to understand what's the best kernel/rom combination, so i can try to fix incoming call quality (incall volume fading).
I must say that I'm a little surprised that the noise suppression is done in the phone apk, wasn't expecting that at all. I will definitely test this to see if my theory was correct. And if it really fixes the problem, you've definitely earned yourself a beer.

I think it's my bad, noise suppression is referred to our mic, not incoming call. So this mod can help to fix outgoing call problems, not incoming ones.
The good news is that i have an idea, i may know where are parameters to change incoming call settings too
@luxandroid, @rosswhite, @CazeW: can you tell me what rom/kernel (new or old rom) is/was working better for you (regarding in call quality)?

That's from a different thread. Don't know if that causes the problem but I am a 100% sure that there was no data when calling on 4.1.1...maybe it logged into GSM network as stunner2002 said?!
EDIT: when googling found something about dual mode transfer setting (ro.ril.enable.dtm) in build.prop. Was that disabled in 4.1.1? Does that have anything to do with it?

May be it's just me but the fading only happens to me when I'm on the phone to a landline (and not all the time). Mobile phones seem to be ok.
Outgoing is definitely no issue so I'm not sure how noise supression has anything to do with it
For me the quality only gets bad when the other side speaks quiet. If the person speaks loud, quality is okay. When the opposite is speaking quiet, it seems some parts are cut off...

I don't know why i haven't experienced any in-call volume issues. May it be incoming or outgoing. In fact, in-call volume is more louder now on maximusHD than when i was on viper before. But in case in the future, if i experience those issues (hopefully not. ), i might try flashing this mod. Thank you anyway.
The problem happens with headphones too?
This is for me to understand if issue is earpiece related only
I'm still unable to reproduce the problem
I'll post soon a mod to improve earphone volume, it may help a little bit
Japp, headphones to. It wouldnt fix it if the volume is raised its a Software issue. I notice sometimes the data connection is disabled by default when i call someone. If its the case Sound quality is outstanding. But its not always the case it disables automatically

I've had data completely disabled and still get problem so I doubt it's caused by that. And I agree that raising the volume will most likely do nothing to fix it.
I could also mention that I've tried both a different kernel (ElementalX) and a different radio and still had the problem.
I really think i've found the bastard now it's kernel related
please test this kernel, it should fix incoming call quality issue:

I also had the same issue. I was on 8.1 developers preview. I have installed the nokia software recovery tool, backed up my phone and went back to 8. Now its still low but a lot better than before. The problem I have found was that my phone did not restore from backup, so I lost all my photos. It must be a software issue.
As a previous iphone user, there were some apps like volume booster that made the sound extremely high. I installed the app and had my volume half. Lets hope the developers make such an app for the lumia1020.
But still, its half than my wife's iphone 4 :crying:

I had this problem too, but on another thread they found a solution, and it works great now.
The problem is that CM has build the mic sensitivity too low, this zip just turn the sensitivity up.

That won't work, the mods don't just trawl through threads searching for messages to them lol. To have a thread closed you need to report it. To have a thread stickied you need to contact a mod via PM and request it (it may or may not be stickied though, it's at their discretion).

Hi,
Thanks for this thread as it lead me to a solution for the 'ok google' problem by replacing the mixer_paths.xml file.
However, i had another speakerphone mic issue that may or may not relate to the 'ok google' problem.
Everytime i made a video call, my friends is complaining he cant hear any voice from my side at all. So i get to test it with my other phone and found that it was the OnePlus One speakerphone / mic issue. Everytime a video call started (Google Hangout, LINE, etc), the speakerphone is always on by default as we get to speak and watching the phone at the same time.
However, at the call recipient's side, there is only a buzz sound and cant hear anything from the call. When i mute the OnePlus One mic, the buzz sound is gone. Unmute the mic and the buzz sound continue. (So the buzz sound is indeed an input received by the OnePlus One mic)
Next, i switched the speakerphone off to earpiece mode and the buzz sound is gone. (So the buzz sound was caused by speaker output?) And then the mic was actually working now (with the speakerphone off), the call recipient's side can hear the call conversation clearly.
It seem that the mic activated some noise cancellation processing or similar when it detected noise from the OnePlus One's speaker itself? Anyone have the same issue? I'm pretty sure its not the App issue as i tried a few different app and all are having this issue.

I have the same issue too, but luckily not as severe. There is definitely a lot of echo/buzzing sound on the other end of the call but if i'm very close to the One and i'm talking loudly they can hear me. Not very ideal, but it's working to some extent.
Search for BACON-549 on the JIRA, looks like the same issue.
