hello
i have NEW Galaxy tab 2 p3100 from about two weeks ago ..i want to ask about battery life
the battery work on half screen brightness with always wifi on with browsing internet ..the battery last about whole 8 hours ..
when i play big games the battery last whole 6 hours until be 5%
when i watch movies the battery stay whole 9 hours ..
is that normal for this tablet or should be more ??
because i hear that should battery last more than that ??
No thats perfect.. Im using GT-P3100 too and my battery life last for 6hours max *screen on*
today i give another try and the result is : with screen half brightness and browsing internet WIFI Constantly the battery last just 5 hours and 30 minutes !!!!
that really frustrating !!!
what you say about that ?!!
Btw with a custom rom like CM 10.1 your battery will least for a long time than the stock one..

Screen will always use the most battery, sounds normal. I know it sounds weird that it lasts longer browsing than with games, but remember: it is still a computer. When playing games, the CPU and GPU will often be at their max clocks! I found that this burns battery very fast. You can certainly underclock it for longer batt life, and this is often recommended anyways since it lowers heat and puts slightly less wear on the CPU.
I noticed that when I'm browsing, typing, wifi, facebook, photos, ect. that the CPU hardly goes above 600mhz! Good! Also remember that the tab2 has a dedicated GPU, so movies will use the GPU and actually use very little CPU (the battery killer). Watching a movie, the GPU is simply decoding a file and displaying an output... requires very little CPU. Playing a game though, requires the GPU and CPU to constantly decode and recode multiple files and display outputs, while processing inputs, and performing advanced math calculations.
You can compare this to another (older) device without a graphics processor, and you'll see that the CPU will be maxed out during a movie on those devices!
Use an app like SetCPU or No Frills CPU from the app store to underclock as you wish.

Oh, congrats on getting a great device! It has probably the best battery in the industry, at a whopping 4000 mah (milli amp hours). You'll notice most phones have about 1500 mah and tablets ranging anywhere in the 1700 to 3000 mah range. This is almost getting close to the 6000+ in laptop batteries lol! You cannot even find an extended battery for it. You could, if you're on the go alot, get one of those portable rechargable usb battery backups to plug into while you're out. It would fit in your pocket or backpack, but I think it wouldn't be worth it.

just turn on the power saver budy.. i charged my tab 2 till 99%. and then i turned on power saving.. it lasted for 22 hours .. i played temple run 2 for 1 hour 30 mins and also watched a movie (i guess ) .. but then i had college on that day .. so it wud be on standby for 2 hours from that 22 hours..
Dont find any prob so far..
i calculate it that every two hours of work with 50 % screen brightness the battery consume 30 % of battery life ! with ( 1 hour wifi on + 30 minutes play video + 30 play shadowgun game ) !
note : power save button is on
what do think ? is that normal or should be more ?
Please keep in mind, there are various factors that ultimately decide the battery life...its not easy to define a users habit/trend...different games use different level of CPU power, different video formats/resolution may also contribute; MP4 vs MKV/720 vs 1080...different operational temperature...application installed...application running in the background...update interval for email/news/weather etc...
I would typically say at least 5 hours of usage on the battery size of the Tab2 7.0 is to be expected...Ive clocked over 9 hours on video watching and as little as 6 hours when playing games among other activities...but I think 5 hours is reasonable...

Shadowgun is a relatively graphics intensive game...powersave might be on, but not active when engaged in high demanding tasks such as gaming...powersave is only more significant when device is idle, such as lower screen brightness, reduced or disabled email/news/weather etc updates...otherwise powersave isnt actually doing much while you are playing games...30% consumption = 2 hours...60% consumption = 4 hours...90% consumption = 6 hours + 10% remaining...sounds about right when you do the maths...looks about right!

my battery life experience ...pathetic! ...i got the phone 3 days back and never charged it above 60% i guess....i used it all the time out of excitement ...finally today charged it to 100% ....and it lasted only 5 hrs .....5hrs is so less....in those 5 hrs 1 hr say standby.....and for d rest 4 hrs i was usig the phone....playing asphalt 6 , doodle jump, angry birds rio , surfing and yes w-fi was on for say2-3hrs ....i know these all things drain a lot of battery but 5hrs is damn too less......and i used battery indiactor to check my battery usage and i was shocked by the result ....dsplay always uses around 40-45%(i dont think this is normal)....i really hope the battery life to improve after 2-3 charge cycles ...
Your battery is fine, everything is normal 4hrs playing games is pretty much what you can expect.... in this case 45% of display is fine too.
If you are not satisfied, what i can say is: dont use any android device, just choose another plataform. Cause the results gonna be the same (or even worst)

Actually 4h using the phone is normal. 4-4.5h with display on = empty. Also yes, 40-70% display battery use is normal as well, welcome to todays smartphones

You haven't posted a lot of details, but bear in mind the following.
Games usually draw more power.
Otherwise I would be looking to do the following.
Charge to 100 %
Then use it until it runs down to 15% or less. That should take about 8 hours (at least - but I don't play games on mine) so may be just do some browsing.
Repeat a couple of times to calibrate the battery.
If it discharges much quicker then you need to start looking at your settings.
Is power saving enabled (It's not in mine cos I think it's a pain in the ass)?
Is Bluetooth on all the time?
Is GPS on all the time?
How bright is the display and is it set to Auto? ( I find that mine is bright enough at about 20% for normal use)
Happy with all that ?
If you still feel that it's discharging to fast then look at installing an enhanced battery stats program that will try to identify any app that is acting as a battery drain.
Report back your findings

That can´t be, there must be something wrong with Your Note.
My wife unplugs hers at 6 am, plays games for 1 hr while we drive to work, works with it the entire day, plays again games for 1 hr when we go back home, then surfs the internet on UMTS and goes on playing games until around 10 pm and still has got 25-40%.
Before with her iPad she had to recharge already in the afternoon with the same user-profile.
Check batt consumption with the app "Better Battery Stats" and eliminate batt-suckers
I get about 10 hours of use daily with mines which is good.. but as for the ipad being better on battery that is true because it has a bigger battery than the note 10.1.. The note 10.1 battery is 7000mah and Ipad is 11666mah that is one reason why many people always say the ipad as better battery life.. Because they dont know the ipad battery size is bigger than android batteries..

Seems to be popular on the forums. Whats eating up your battery? Have you rooted? Custom rom? Tried apps like greenify and ds battery saver? I can easily get two days out of my phone with 3-4 hours of screen on time on the mf9 stock rom rooted.
Don't really know what's eating it. Mostly cause when i use it for regular uses like apps, web surfing, setting exploring (got it yesterday) and gaming.
And i want a hellish better battery, but the thing im afraid of is the safety of it, can it easily damage the phone cause of hot summer days or cold winter days?
And i don't root since i have managed to brick 2 previous phones even though i want a clean simple google edition of the android 4.3, but then again i want a stable one with every function included and some of the including samsung apps like shealth for temp check and the watch app for tv remote controlling.
Get it now!
These are my results on the battery so far
Max Brightness & Gaming = 12 hours
Min Brightness & No gaming = 25 hours 16 min
*Results are On screen time*
The results below are the Samsung 2600Mah battery
Max brightness & gaming = 1-2 hours
Min Brightness and No gaming = 4-6 hours
*Results are On screen time*
Another good app to try out is battery doctor.
P.s. you need a couple battery cycles to get best performance from battery
I get around 12 to 16 hrs on stock battery. zerolemon should be here any day now

25 hours on min brightness ?
cool
Most off the time i have around 6-8 hours screentime and i only need to charge every 2 days.(no gaming, auto brightness -2, wifi, bt, gps, mobile, nfc, all on...)
i tried once not to touch the phone for a full day and i had 91% left at the end off the day with about 20 minutes off screentime
Got the battery about 2 weeks ago, still very happy with it, only thing that worked on my nerves so far is to put the phone in recovery mode after turning off the device, i usually end up removing the cover to make sure i touch the buttons
the only thing im afraid of is if a unoriginal battery can damage the phone or in worst case explode (as mentioned in the manual)
Warning for anyone
If you are thinking of buying the White version i would suggest not to because it absorbs color from basically anywhere it can, Mines yellowish..

i guess your right, i wanted to do some testing myself
from 100 to 50 % battery in a little more then 8 hours & 30 minutes with :
-> brightness at 100%, gps, wifi, mobile, bt, nfc, everything toggled to on
-> autosync 8 accounts from wich 3 are email accounts
-> 4 hours music with screen on and volume almost at maximum (done with battery test utility)
-> watch over 3 hours tv (streaming with wifi)
-> trip from 30 minutes with (Waze) navigation (forgot to turn it off in the background, turned it off after an hour i think)
= screentime 8 hours and 50% left
So max brightness probably gives (about) 16 hours off nonstop screentime based on my use.
After a couple off charging cycles with an app called android tuner, it tells me i can have over 14 days on standby, i wonder if this will be correct but i don't feel like testing that

Many people helped us to give specific informations about this battery. I got mine (7500mah) last week and I wanted to say THX and share my first-cycle-stats experiences.
Phoenix ROM with Ktoonez kernel
- Mainly 2G Data
- Flightmode at night for 5 hours
- Rebooted ~8 times for flashing stuff and doing a full Backup (~1 1/2 hours totally)
- Greenify and some security apps.
- 4 mail accounts, Whatsapp
- 30 mins of navigation
- Screen mainly on auto
- Bluetooth transfers, pictures, etc....
Max screen time could be 12 hours, because the battery resisted to die and stuck at 3% :silly:
Pro
- more easy holding smartphone now
- battery life
- soundoutput better when laying on the backside
- good grip, less slippery
- now also available in europe (amazon.co.uk)
- fair price
Cons
- a bit too thick
- signal problems from time to time esp. when holding in your hand on places with poor reception

In regards to your cons, it's about 2 mm thicker than the 5200 extendeds out there. I think the bigger drawback is the weight.
I haven't noticed any signal problems myself, but I think you would be more sensitive to it if you already have signal problems. I don't live in threshold areas so I don't feel this drawback, but a lot of people have mentioned it.
Zerolemon 7500mah Battery Review
Hey, guys! I did a review on my Youtube channel of this battery. There's a link in my signature if you want to check it out Got some crazy battery life with it!
Woo got mine. First cycle 1day6hrs. Screen time 8 hrs. Runing goldeneye.
I got the 7500 as well. I've been using it for about 5 days now and the most i've gotten is 7 hours screen time. My main battery drainage is audio_out 2. I went from 96% to 30% in a day. I might've either gotten a defective battery or my usage is crazy. I still don't know what my audio_out2 is.
I find my Z3's battery life not that impressive as critically acclaimed. A lot of people have posted their battery estimated time to be two days or more but for me, even after cycling the battery from 100% to 1% twice I still only get 1 day and a couple of hours more. For sure I can make it through one day with probably a lot left but I'm sure not a heavy user. Dumb ways to die 2, crossy road and wordament are the only games I play and they aren't even that big of games. I don't play them much either, maximum of 2 hours combined in a day. It says the screen takes up most of the battery consumption a but I usually just leave it on WhatsApp and do nothing. HOW??? AND WHY???

Do you really care about some dumb estimations? What is wrong with you all?! My Z3 works for ~2.5 days with like 2 h+ a day of PowerAmp at max volume , dropping to ~30 %... WiFi off (also not available for location, check that in wifi settings), location on precise settings (no wifi obviously), screen time 1-2 h. Projection is just a projection, why would you care? It just takes the average load, so if you turn it on after an hour of playing a game it will show a lower value...
exactly... want it to live a little longer? use the stamina mode.. (helps with screen off and some screen on battery life depending on how u configure stamina mode..)
all in all a very nice phone with a good battery capacity..
im starting to think 3000mAh should be the minimum/standard in every smartphone that comes after the Z3... u can seriously feel the difference compared to older phones with less battery capacity..
u need to learn how to use the phone without keeping an eye on the battery percentage.. im starting to get shocked when i hit 70-60% by the time im off to bed..
yes at days i get down to less than 10% but without keeping an eye on the battery percentage its living longer...
stamina mode on 24/7 , 3g/4g on 24/7 (no wifi) , auto sync on, whatsapp, instagram, twitter and 2 bbms sucking my battery but nothing this beast cant handle
by the end of the day im at whatever percent ... and sot between 2-7 hours ..
(not bragging but i guess i wont need bbs/amplify/greenify/bmw... with how the stock rom is working)
Well gaming will ramp up the CPU clocks/voltage so lower SOT would be expected.

Not sure why he doesn't realize this.... Screen on for 2 hours playing a game is going to use your battery.
I'm having the same issue as OP. Been through around 5 charge cycles so far. I don't play any games at all. Main usage is for WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, a bit of camera use and general web browsing. It's usually an even split between being on WiFi and 3G through the day.
I've had the phone for a week and my battery usually lasts around 28 hours (30 max) with around 4 hours of SOT, (with stamina enabled from 50% down) which I'm kinda disappointed by, given how everyone I see on forums posts great stats of 7-8 hours SOT. (Beats the crap out of what my old Nexus 5 was giving me, but still - bought the phone because I didn't want to think about my battery anymore)
Don't know if I just have a defective battery or I'm doing something wrong, but does anyone have any tips, or anything in particular that you do to ensure your battery lasts two days?
I read that the Facebook app is a bit of a hog, but I don't see any flags under the battery usage page, or any warnings in the section that monitors which apps are power hungry. Going to uninstall it and see if it makes a difference. That apart, my screen brightness is usually set at around 35% (with adaptive brightness on) Any other suggestions would be very welcome
Thanks!
Hello,
I have a problem with my Nvidia Shield K1 tablet
Running system: Lollipop 5.1.1 (downgraded from 6.0.1)
ROM: Carbon 5.1.1-UNOFFICIAL-20160809-1925
Kernel: from the above rom
I've brought this tablet as used and it works very well and smooth,
but when i just want to browse the web, watch some youtube videos or play some emulator games
i can see the battery draining very quickly, with simple web browsing and youtube my battery is draining with continuous use in like 4-6 hours (100% to 0%),
my question is is this normal?
1 time when i used some battery info apps from the playstore it once stated that my battery condition was "bad" when i had like 5% charge left, but never saw this again.
I've also tried to disable 1 core so it will run on 3 cores, down clock both cpu and gpu by a couple hundred Mhz with Kernel adiuator but somehow the settings jump up and down.
This battery drain is on marshmallow, and lollipop both on stock and custom roms, even after restoring stock rom.
Can someone say what is a normal battery duration with continuous use of the tablet? a rough estimate will do, i'm just wondering if my battery is defect or something,
also overnight it will drain like 7-8% if not used, i dont know if that's normal too.
Or can someone help me with this issue or a way to pinpoint the issue?
P.S. i've also applied multiple doze applications like Greenify and disabled most of my start up applications at boot, battery stats don't see any unusual wake locks either.
Thanks in advance for the replies and help.
First of all, it depends on the brightness of the screen. The higher the brighteness level the higher the battery usage. Second, if you play games or stream HD videos 4 to 6 hours is normal. Just browsing the web, word processing and office work should give you easily +9 hours.
Did you deactivate **Adaptive brightness** under **Display**?
Because no matter the ambient lighting, it's always too bright! Manually is the way to go.
Last but not least, is **app optimization** off? If not, do so. It only slows down the performance and drains battery.

Thank you for your response, and yes i have my brightness on manual as overday i like it at around 60-70% brightness and at evening/night i use 5% with a screen filter app to darken it even more which i like for my eyes.
I play emulator games sometimes but if i do i wont get 4 to 6 hours i can get around 2 to 4 hours max, as with browsing the web and office related stuff i have never seen it getting 9+ hours, the max i would get and i tested it several times was around 6-7 hours max, do you have any idea why this is?
I haven't tried disabling "app optimization" but i will sure try to disable that option and hope for more battery life
Could it also be that my battery is worn out/kinda dead as i've bought this tablet second-hand and not new?
+60% brightness that's something. My brightness level usually won't pass the WiFi symbol at daytime and when I game. So it's something like maxi 20% to 30%. And at nighttime and dim indoor lighting it's on 0%. I've to assume that's why I get more on screen time.
Haha, I'm used to darkness.
Either way, I highly recommend a 10k powerbank to double the time.
Moreover, WiFi takes a lot more battery than the Nvidia battery stats show! Just tally up the percentages, and it'll never add up.
The other day, I was streaming HD vids, playing some games, browsing the web and after +5 hours my battery was at 5%.
Most days, I work offline and I get way more on screen time.
